Is HUT In Trouble? Rewards, X-factors and XP 

Like I said in the video (multiple times) we have to wait and see what Friday's reward path brings before we panic - it could be great and this video will be for nothing But I can't help but be concerned 😅

If they didnt want players to have a big 7 day head start they probably shouldnt have sold a 7 day head start.

Alright Thrash buckle up buddy this is gonna be a long one. Oh and I hope this is what u meant by share our thoughts. 1. Bronze players- I get it’s early access but bronze players are completely useless and we should not be getting them in our xp path. 2. Reason to win- I’m not sure I feel how u do on this topic. I like winning! I don’t like to lose but that’s just how I am. However, I will say that my mind is MUCH more at ease knowing we don’t have to get 5 goals and 20 shots on goal to get max points for rewards in Squad Battles because it’s just xp and yes not getting max xp sucks but by no means is it a big stresser. 3. Objectives- yes not many objectives this year and that’s a little odd but nothing to really stress over as they will no doubt add more soon like on Friday. 4. Change- completely agree! Change is most certainly needed. No @ss backwards change tho that’s not what it should be. Ever!. 5. EA xp path- I don’t think they suck all that much but they could’ve most definitely been better! No bronze players. Silver players ONLY at the start. Would’ve been nice if they had given us an 82 or 83+ pack as a bonus reward as those need to be much better! 6. Fridays xp path- yes! The new xp path has gotta be good! That’s my BIGGEST concern. Relying on EA for rewards is a really scary thing as they’ve proven to have a very negative track record. 7. X-factor change- I like the change! Quite welcome. I will say they could’ve executed this idea in a much better way. For example- have all x-factors upgradeable like normal, but have the collection aspect still there. So be able to upgrade guys like Raymond, Pettersson, etc so u, Henreek, myself, and others can use those guys, but have it where the x-factor has to be fully powered down in order to trade it in(meaning we’d have to do the set again but not a problem. At least we could upgrade the card we want) 8. X-factor and Icons not being able to be pulled in packs- I think the fact we can’t pull captain x-factors like Kucherov(who I REALLY REALLY want bc I’m a Bolts fan) and McDavid, Nylander, Heiskanen, Gretzky, Lemieux, etc is so so so bad. Every card except team builders should be able to be pulled in packs. 9. Hut future- I think Friday is going to say A LOT to where we’re going to have a good year or one where it will not be all that fun. Again, Sorry for the long comment! Hope Seattle was fun ! The game is trash again ! Packs $100 for 20 crap cards , I don’t care if you pull a 85 McD $100 no way ! Servers the same ! Online is crap unless you live near the server ! No real rewards for SB or R , Win lose doesn’t matter that’s the EA propaganda

New x factor is a big L. And how the fuck the pack prices are 3x more but the ovrl are lower than any other year? That doesn't make any sens. Ea got some great suggestion and there like: great idea, we'll do the complete opposite🤡

Yeah I wasn't going to buy it this year but said fuck it, it's almost winter I want a game I can play for a few months and somehow they've made HUT even worse then other years lol

They could have kept rush, more tiers on the XP, change back the X factors so all can be upgraded. And lower the damn price in the packs store if we still get the same amount of coins for a rivals game. Imagine playing 30 rivals games and you still can’t buy a prime pack💀

Thank you for being a voice for us F2P players. The game changers are truly the only ones who can bring concerns to light and have their voices heard. This game has taken far too many steps backwards - and it needs to be addressed properly by notable figures before it gets even worse. This game had a plethora of features, rewards and game modes over a decade ago that have somehow been gone in the wind. My mind can’t comprehend how a sports series like NHL can go so backwards as technology and revenue gets better. Hockeys a growing game, and forcing kids to buy packs to keep their heads above water will keep it stagnant as the least played sports franchise, not to mention it’s a heinous gateway drug for gambling.

Mut gets tired fast, chel game play is one timers and skating that’s way to fast with all the methheads just flying around and not fumbling the puck. Franchise is just reskinned……….. everything that was good in past hockey games is none existent.

I hope EA does makes it way easier to make X-factors cause I made Nikita Kucherov and that’s all I’m making because that was way too much work and it cost way too much so imagine making Mcdavid X-factor

Louder for pretty much EVERYONE I've been talking to on RU-vid and reddit, most people just don't see the issue. It's nice to see I'm not alone or crazy. I also want change but I still think rivals should get rewards, like you said there's just no point to really play it anymore now. It feels poorly thought out.

Bring back weekly rewards for SB/Rivals

There are two ways they can completely ruin their game to increase play time. Increase the experience required between each reward or increase the difficulty of the objectives and moments. If we go back to scoring 5 goals in the top left side on Superstar in one period, I give up!

Well that's not good to hear that the bonus xp levels have bronze players in it very disappointing

It is best time to try another modes of game....franchise, be a pro, etc...

One thing is that if the squadbattles (or whatever the xp path this year is) take less time to complete to max packs and rewards. People are more likely to play champs and online modes after that. That is, if the champs are rewarding enough even on worse players with like 5-6 wins. Last year i couldnt be arsed to grind champs cause i feel like i had to sweat 20 games to get anything thats even close to being worth of my time since im 11-12 win scrub. Having to play 20 games for 5-6 wins like some people do, the rewards were absolutely not worth of anyones time.

Great video. I honestly like that X-Factors will be released in ‘Series’ now but I agree, we should be able to upgrade them. I truly think the fate of this game all lies on Friday’s content release. This first real XP path will tell us all we need to know. Also, hate that the Cover Athlete MSPs are in sets but not complete-able. They should have just been removed until we get the content needed to make them.

It is v alarming that ea is going to be gatekeeping the rewards for all modes except for champs. Cautiously pessimistic bc it’s ea but Friday will be a hit or a miss. I understand what they are looking to do but if they were to look at copying the fc franchise they have a cap path in addition to weekly game mode rewards..

was in the stream today. i may play more WOC this year cause im not great at 5v5 and its hard to keep up and having a competitive team throughout the years especcially with school and stuff.

Even with better rewards come release bay, it doesn’t change what we know. Which is that the very basic xf and pu paths have been turned into just outright insulting grinds. That’s won’t change with release, and other than having significantly more packs and easier access to huge volumes of cards, nothing makes that better. I take it as an extremely discouraging sign that they have pushed very hard into pay to win. If that’s true I can only hope that their engagement and microstrans revenues absolutely tank.. because if they don’t then the message is “hey these gambling addicts will pay pig no matter how minimal and insulting the returns are”; which just means they will keep pushing it further. The actual path grinds are also obscene, and the new OVR tiering is just putting 95% worthless cards in your inventory that you can bump 1 to 2 points for x4 of them. Feels like it’s gonna be “hey look at all these cards you get”, but they’re basically worthless filler. Maybe there will be more ways to use them, but probably not. I can already see event sets being gold cards only. Based on the early access, HUT is looking much much much worse than before, and things like absurd grinds for the McDavid don’t get better with full release imo.

They need win 10 online games in a row rewards etc

You are not over reacting. Online Players and Offline Players are at complete opposites. A lot of popular content creators are online players. And those creators talk constantly about how much they despise playing offline squad battles. And well, that’s exactly how I feel about playing online. I hate it passionately. But I have to play it for achievements and progression. Even though I hated every second of it. Going 12-8-7 Online was Faster than it would’ve been Offline. So, XP progression path I think was needed. So we can each play our own ways. But the XP needs to be even. And the rewards need to be way way way higher. Changing the card overall requirements was also confusing. It felt much simpler just sorting by gold cards, knowing they’d be NHLers. But now you have bronze and silver NHLers. I need to see the purpose of bronze NHLers. Also, a lot of the rewards were 72 overall cards and I don’t understand why because 72 overall cards do not have a purpose in NHL 25. If I am mistaken, please let me know. But I believe team builders require 77 overall NHLers, icons require 76 overall cards, X factors require 75 overall cards. So what is the use of any card below 75 OVR and why “reward” me with them.

For me, I loved the idea of the XP path (as an offline only player who isn’t playing at max difficulty) but the execution of it has me very concerned. And idk maybe I’m the only one that thinks this way but so what if the people who didn’t get early access are far behind. What was the point for the people who did get early access if it’s not really beneficial. Most people who didn’t preorder are likely BAP/Franchise players anyways because the only real bonus for those players would be the 7 days early. Also to the players being behind and giving up could be countered with the fact that letting down early access players could have that same effect to those players

The dam 1 player packs for a 75 is so annoying I have like 10-15 of those packs sitting in my inbox they need to make it easier to quickly open packs instantly and the menus laggy like always such a pain in ass

I already refunded and went back to 24 because I don’t feel that there’s any technical support. There are between 30-75 reported issues right now with no potential resolutions. These include lack of pre order rewards and no controller Vibration let alone these horrendous changes to hut.

Imagine trying hard in one day and complaining some of us actually have real jobs and the games content is fine I wish RU-vidrs would stop crying and ruining the game for us casual gamers

Seems like people were complaining last year that you needed to sink too much time into the game each and every week to stay competitive and now there’s complaints that there’s not enough stuff to do. Regardless of what the developers do, people will find a way to be critical…

They should look at how HUT worked in nhl 13-14. Remove the garbage x factor players, bring back leaderboards, remove the momentum bar in the game (idk who thought this was a good idea), remove untradable cards and just make HUT simple again…

OH HELLLLLL NAAAA, not buying the game until rewards are changed back to what they were thats absolutely crazy, why would I play the game for an xp path😂 what a joke, ill play nhl24 with my 99 god squad this is lame af, opening packs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or Friday if you save em for events, that was to me the sole reason I even played hut

I agree. Disappointed the lower level XF aren't upgradable like the lower level PUIs. This early access period has been a let down. Last season felt like a reward. We got some special player through a mini event. Excitement was rising This feels like a scam and the excitement is already waining (and the game hasn't even fully launched...)

I started playing franchise mode because there’s nothing to chase in HUT. Hopefully content and rewards are better after the official “launch” date. Seems like there’s a ton of inflation right now in HUT…I have more than 200k coins, but a 76 card is going for 3k…so what’s the point?

I'm okay with the way xFactors works this year since it will be different series and everything (I suppose)... BUT they should at least make the Holograms xFactor and Icons packable... I'm not putting any money this year and it would be much more exciting to have rewards if we know that we could possibly (even minimally), pull theses cards in rewards pack

I can't believe that menu is still lagging. They had 1 year to fix some things, but still game is broken. One-t overpowered, goalies are saving what they shouldn't and taking goals which they shouldn't. Players are clunky. I cant purchase any NHL arena. Everything is expensive. Packs are overpriced and terrible, wild card is boring, XP factors cant be upgraded, no reason to play rivals, Supercharged McDavid is pay to win......

The bronze packs have to stop. Period. Cards below 72 are effectively worthless, or close enough to worthless, at least. Crap like "guaranteed 68" packs should not exist. I'm fine with most of the changes, but many of the "rewards" are just insulting. And who made the brilliant choice to make everything not a player or coach either effectively useless or literally useless? You know what, though? I'll certainly take this over having to score in certain parts of the net (which was INCREDIBLY stupid) or "100 hits with a specific bronze player".

I'm really glad you made this video because I had the same thought yesterday when playing HUT. I'm capped out and I'm tired of earning bronze garbage cards. I was really sad when i saw i was done with wildcard and that mode is so damn fun. I really hope the content in 4 days really makes up for this.

Congrats Trash. You said everything what we all in community are thinking about the game. The circle will go like this: play your wild card, play rivals if needed for qualifying in champs, maybe some moments if worth it and then loose half of games in champs against bots. Take your mid rewards and so on... Also no GWC or something really hot competitively. EA is going in direction of casual gameplay with best cards hidden behind paywall. They want to destroy competitive community as 2K did with 2K24 where they created gambling simulator and created new community of vales who are spending money on packs. Because this is the bottom-line. I think that if they not successful to raise incomes, maybe we are playing the last NHL game.... This is only how I look on things in HUT....

Xp path is perfectly fine... rewards are the problem... and they gotta fix the gameplay... players got stucked together... the puck is making some mach 10 weird rebounds...

Can we talk about how they falsely advertised the packs in the store. Legends are not NHL players. Also I bought the game to play NHL. Not OHL, not ECHL, the fucking NHL. Let me play with nhl players.

Just seen the bullet that was NHL 25 fly past me... when EAFC 25 is in better shape you know it fucked up, they murdered the one thing I regularly played (squad battles) and then murdered rivals rewards... utterly pointless game modes

100% agree with everything you said. I've never been this unexcited at early access\launch. Not being able to pull the good PUI is idiotic. Those being possible pulls helps sell packs how dumb are they?

I think the problem is easy to solve, these extra 3 packs needs to be repeatable in the XP tree, and they need to be as good as if you were getting your SB and Rivals rewards. Last year I was doing my SB and Rivals until I had gold rewards untradable for 2x packs... If I can't get some equivalent It's a big L and I don't know if I will continue playing for that long.

I think it’s a huge mess that the very high-end Power up/Hologram icons and high-end X factor like McDavid is no longer pullable as a random pack. Way less of a dopamine burst and less incentive to play. Having that one crazy drop opportunity in the back of your head always makes things way better.

I think the xp path idea works IF they add a similar path thats currently in wildcard, to Rivals and SB as well. Have one unified XP path (similar to MLB) that all modes contribute various levels of XP towards, BUT have separate paths for all modes that actually incentives someone to play said mode. That way you can work towards which ever path you want to and you get instant rewards as opposed to weekly, seems like a no brainer

Im nervous too worried they might pull a MLB and the good stuff will be only packs ... Im hoping this is not the case ... Hopefully the have a bunch of moments to go along with the XP path I feel its not going to be enough

Regardless of rewards my team is looking prettyyyyyy good for early access, just didn’t get lucky enough to pull the mcdavo base. I am hoping rewards are better… quite literally didn’t feel rewarding

One of the reasons I stopped playing mlb the show xp paths suck/programs. Same four on four glitch in rivals freezing syncing issues. Glad to see ea is like my work and the same problems r allowed to continuously occur. 😮

I’d say there’s cause for concern. I’m a mid level player, Div 3 at best in Rivals and this was the first season that I’ve been able to finish all the content that is there. Nothing really left to do but play SB or Rivals and try to get those last XP rewards. Not to say I don’t like the fact the moments were a little easier but ya, missing out on more content to have something to play for right now. Like you say, hopefully Friday brings new content and a better feeling about the season. Right now the PS Network is down, so maybe there’s something already in the works?!?

I guess everyone forgot about the pack nerfing in 24 !!! To me that was it the game has been in the shitter since 14 and this is just another recycled turd E.A. you won't be getting my money this season..Just cause you can get fools to spend a hundo on Madden don't mean you will get that out of hockey for a 85 over all card that won't be worth a nickel in two months nope no thank you good bye E.A.

First time in eleven years I haven't jumped on right away and pumped couple hundred in packs. Best time for me to play is mid-week at night. So nothing over ten champs games. Rivals mostly. . . Combo platter of servers and no game presentation / gameplay improvement. Small goalies always suck certain meta abilities and such lead to same teams.

In a way, they have made the mode less grindy and removed incentive for people to play in an annoying/glitchy manner just to get wins. It feels more like people can play for the sake of enjoying the game with a team you build.

I didnt even play today... After completing all the moments and the wildcards in 1st 24 hours i was already like now what? Play rivals? For what there no other rewards than some xp, it feels like there no point to even really play rivals or sb...and it feels like the whole thing about game being competitive is gone, like you dont even have to win to get same rewards everyone else gets... Also its so hard to get any decent overall players other than buying from market since those rewards on xp sets...you literally just get some bronze players and if u lucky get one silver every now and then... Then that every team be just filled w icons and xf cards now... especially the anount of icon players everywhere is just ridiculous... Its sad that game feels already boring after very few days especially that the actual game play been feeling very good now...but knowing ea they will change it soon too back to how its been for years... But hey if i need give them something im glad about its the new franchise mode i like how the contracts go even though its harder now and feel like alot ahl level players only accept 1 way deals which isnt too realistic...there downsides too the thing that youd need go and talk to every player and the conversation starts same way everytime...so what click 20 players and same answer from all of them is just boring... Also i really like how u can see the trophies players have got now and players seem to grow better now and also lose ovr when they an old player And what i have already said in comments b4 its shocking that Usa and Canadas womens teams players not in at all...and the fact i had not heard anything about it b4 actually seeing it myself in the game...hoping they be added asap

I think everyone including myself forgets that the game isn’t “officially” released. I hope EA is listening to everyone’s complaints during this period to add more to the game.

I think sets that you cant do brings some hope but honestly I don't wanna see 900k packs like come on ea

The XP path is very similar to what college football did which was fun for about two weeks and then was super stale. Everyone getting the same cards is boring

If they turned hut into hut rush in terms of the xp reward system being dogshit this game will be dead in a matter of weeks. And i agree that there is no incentive to win. Players like opening packs and getting unique rewards, having set rewards on an xp chain takes a lot of that away. Easy solution for both issues is adding weekly rewards back in along with the xp path, scaling to wins.

Best part is, as of Monday night at 8:41 pm eastern time, PSN is down and I can’t even play the damn game!! 🤬

I totally agree, I really dislike not having the weekly rewards. It gave you a reason to play to try to earn those top rewards. I have a feeling the XP thing is not gonna make up for getting ultimate and ultimate choice packs every week. Sure an 87 is cool but it rather have packs where you can pull things and use them to make other cards

The College Football team is similar to what we have here. Almost no objectives to make and no games for their promos. Value in terms of content is awful there.

Any one having troubles agains the cpu in squad battles I swear pro is like superstar and I cannot score for shit the goalies are like on crack like I was getting max points against superstar last year every game even against the 90+ teams I literally lost to rookie mode today cus I can’t score

People get upset cos the game is difficult and takes time to progress. It’s actually refreshing to see users not always having the best cards to play attained so easily.

It's called early access for a reason. Just because people pay extra and pre order it doesn't mean they should have the ability to have a better team than player who get it on release or later on. Limit the rewards so people aren't miles ahead when full game releases
