I appreciate that, Ashley Tellis was able to bypass the illiberalism trap laid down by Arzan in the last Q. Experts tend to lose credibility when they start taking political positions based on mainstream narratives and will risk alienating a largely supportive audiences. Especially when the silent majority is fighting a civilizational battle in Urban India at social and intellectual level against mainstream narratives.

Will be interesting to have Ashley back today, April 2023 on the same topic. How have his views undergone change; if any?

Learn from Singapore, a small city state. When they don’t feel insecure, why do we?

I think there is an untested assumption that China will escalate the Ladakh conflict if India chose to eject them from it. What interest would have for China to counter escalate if India only seeks to restore the status quo? I don't see China doing so except only to save face.

Chinese air force trains with the best, the US, hundreds of times a year along with Japan, and Taiwan. Everything happening tells you the US thinks Chinese air force is capable. India'a accessment of Chinese capabilities are myths created by emotional thinking. If Chinese air force is as bad as India says, then the situation happening now would make zero sense. The world knows Indians have an inflated sense of its capabilities. The conflicts with Pakistan proves it.

India's greatest weakness is that it has lost its image in the region as a good government. It has actually exposed its cheapness of morals and principles and its inhuman policies and use of government and public institutions to destroy its democracy. The government has also lost its strategic direction with respect to growing the region economically. It has extended the Indian psychic of not giving and not leaving anything good for the general public. Indian politics is dividing people on religious grounds. The statements Mr. Ashley is making about Indian and China people are crossing a line. Mr. Ashley seems to be an arms trader. Mind you Trump is coming back and the American army will no longer fight for its big corporations.
