I used to say repeatedly that if Govt of India repeatedly squeeze common Indian tax payers and only concentrate to enhance individual tax collection, that will affect consumption which is happening exactly. If Govt takes away surplus income in the form of tax collection, such happenings are inevitable.

With more then 90 % of the population just struggling to maintain daily sustenance it is inevitable that one day the whole system will go down and affects the whole economy. That is why education, job creation, more constructive investments, less bureaucracy, more efficient system, solid infrastructure etc is needed. We have a very long way to go … and at the current pace it looks skeptical
