I think western must not view India by its own lens rather they should try to understand every country correlating its history,challenges and other issues especially in the case of such a vast and immensely diverse country like india….there must be the space of Indian way of doing things and that’s what modi government is trying to show.

About vote share, they fail to realize that India is a union of states and each state has its own identity. People vote differently for federal vs state elections. 10 years ago there we would never have had a positive discussion like this on India. Instead of ignoring or belittling India, the world is now paying attention. Interestingly most of India's issues today are a consequence of centuries of meddling in India by colonisers and non Indic religious groups. How well we are able to throw those monkeys off our backs will dictate how far India goes. We may not get this chance again for a long time.

Over 2.5 million Indian soldiers had assisted Britain to stabilize the world during WW2 out of India’s then population of 300 million & 28 of the 32 highest gallantry awards - Victoria Cross were bagged by the fighting fit traditional ethnic warrior regiments of present day India. In the 1950s, the Asian Tiger Economies, (ie Taiwan, HK, South Korea, Singapore and China) raced ahead economically and developed. India under Nehru was INTENTIONALLY kept under developed and suppressed. It was Nehru's FABIAN SOCIAL POLICIES, (also known as Nehru Socialism) kept India under developed and Indians poor and suppressed. All that has changed in the last 10 years!
