As you can see, this person talks out off their *ss... You know nothing about collecting something with value. There is a big difference between first addition and new print, there are Pokémon cards that cost as much as houses, and they will stay there probably for longer than you and I my friend. on the other hand the "stock market" always go up and down, and it's not like you buy a "stock market" you buy stocks there, and you can, and Honestly probably would, lose everything you own fiddling with stocks (me too that's OK, don't feel bad).

⁠@@avivp69sure the stock market goes up and down, but at the end of the day, it’s always going up. If you have a diverse portfolio you’re not going to lose money, and even with the example of Apple to Pokémon cards, Apple is still the safer bet. If spent thousands on cards and Pokémon lost all of its popularity tomorrow then you’d be out of luck. Apple isn’t going to suddenly go away. Pokémon’s is held together solely by fans, but those fans won’t be around forever. I’d be willing to gamble that if you spent every penny you had on Pokémon cards today, in twenty years you’d have lost money in the investment.

I’ve seen a lot more people losing it all on options trading than Pokémon trading though. Regulation doesn’t make things safe for the consumer; just protects the system. Ultimately if you’re not an idiot, you don’t have to worry about that though.

Lol.. That's all I have to say... Way more people lost everything because of the "stock market" than people who lost everything because of a first spring Charizard, not to mantion people that took their own life over losing everything in the stock market

@@pokene_pokemon options, puts, trading on margin. None of that is investing. It’s gambling. Investing is leaving it in one stock, ETF, or mutual fund for at least a couple of years at a time.

@@avivp69How many more people have invested in the stock market than have in Pokémon? You’re comparing a skirmish to a war and saying they’re on the same level. They are not. Generally, regular people do fine when they have a wide range of investments. The people who lose in the “stock market” are those who go in big into one stock and that stock fails.

Yep. Not sure why there are even people arguing about this. If you collect pokemon cards, you are investing into pokemon whether you call yourself an investor or not.

TCGs are terrible investments which is why they're looked down on. Those pokemon cards I bought in the early 2ks are just pieces of paper with pretty pictures on them. spent hundreds on them. Someone MIGHT be interested in buying them, but the likelihood is slim to none because they're so common. The more there are and the older they are the more likely they're better kindling than anything.
