What self loathing cultural Marxism can you see in the UK!? it is full of nationalism, patriotism - just turn on your TV and it is full of event after event with union jacks cladding everything from cooking programs to sporting events. If there are practical questions about improving the way our country is run then just leave the psycho-analytical babble to one side and address each on their merit rather than label them as "marxism" .

The issue is that if people don't take the time learn about any "way of life," instead they go on with their life thinning bad about other ways of life. Not all Muslims are bad. Not all atheist or Jews or Christians or Buddhist etc are bad. Take the time to learn about other people different from your own.

Zara Faris - "Muslims face censorship on discussing our beliefs" - Huh??? 5minutes earlier Peter gave you an opportunity to express your beliefs but you all declined.
@veganath
@veganath 7 лет назад
hallmark agree with your sentiment, they can't publicly make an admission to specifics of sharia for fear of self demonization of their own ideology. The entire debate was cringe worthy.... I applaud Peter for his courage. But we in the West shouldn't hesitate to demonize and reform our own socioeconomic system as it incentivizes people to gain and maintain a differential advantage over others, no love/joy there(think military industrial complex, big Pharma, big Ag...etc). Money and it's inherent profit motive needs to be retired as it is no longer the most efficient and equitable way to manage resources, that title goes to the direct application of our science & automation technology. The fact that 10 million people die from starvation every year, mostly children should never happen with the abundance we are capable of creating. But you are right Islamic ideology is more immoral(evil as u say)

They receive everyday this sorts of inquisition, like he said he could have mailed him to ask him clearly and in more detail. But no, seems objective of Pete isnt to debate but rather to ''umask'' this bas guys, doing exactly what the debate is aiming to clarify and change -> blackmailing people with technical words that 99% dont understand : extremisms, radicalism, fundamentalists...
@veganath

Domna Zara Faris - "To you your beliefs to us our!" - absolutely agree with her, however do you agree she should have clarified this by saying, "as long as what one believes isn't the impetus to cause others(human & non-human) to suffer unnecessarily". If Islam is the solution, how would Islam solve the issues of crime, corruption, environmental degradation, starvation, poverty and our greatest admission to failure war?

Secularism is a mechanism - not a belief - that creates a safe space for a diversity of ideas (economic and political)and religions with no dominate religion. The Caliphate is a mechanism that imposes a dominate religion, economic system, and political system on everyone within its jurisdiction. The two systems are diametrically opposed and cannot occupy the same space without great tension.

Powerful! It's great to see Muslims stand against interrogation by Peter Tatchell. Yes or no questions are infact bullying tactics in this setting. The questions Peter Tatchell was planning to ask were only part of a ploy. A ploy Muslims seem to fall into all too often. You can't debate theological morals in a debate. Learn to spot them and you will go further in articulating your point. I do respect his work and his commendation of human rights abuse etc, BUT he seems to be asking one sided questions.
@argotcalo5575
@argotcalo5575 8 лет назад
+rikleybanw I agree with the questions. People need to know if the muslim speakers want sharia law, that rule above everybody, and allow stoning, decapitations, death to apostates, death to blasphemers, and of course the creation of an islamic state that put that in practice. Is a crucial question. Because in UK that is not permissible. If muslims would like to see sharia law implemented and their leaders inspire in their communities the desire to have sharia law. Then, it will be a cause of constant violence. Because there will be always a group of muslims that would like to make jihad to help in the implementation of sharia or in the defense of its principles. Is like having universities teaching and inspiring the desire of implementing communism. Then, it would be natural to expect that many students will form groups that will enter in conflict with the democratic states with the objective of having or defending communism. The central problem here is that islam is not only a religion. Is a total system, that have the aim of submit all aspects of life of the persons and the functions of the states. So, islam as a political entity, and by teaching sharia, at the end, will always bring conflict with other forms of government and lifestyles that are not islamic. I am no judging islam. It is what it is. But is foolish to ignore that islam is antithetical to many basic principles of democratic states. So, is natural to expect conflict with muslims that pursue the objective of implementing sharia in a democratic state.

Well the Noble Quran was not revealed to please anyone in particular individual but was revealed for all those who want to ponder, reflect, try to understand the Divine Commandments.. I am pasting some verses that talk of not fighting , which means they promote peace.002.193 And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression 004.090 Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them). 049.009 If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies, then make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair (and just). 045.014 Tell those who believe, to forgive those who do not look forward to the Days of Allah: It is for Him to recompense (for good or ill) each People according to what they have earned. 002: 256 Is the governing word for all skirmishes or wars. It says that there is no compulsion in religion. Throughout the Noble Quran are ayaat that show that peace is better than war. Ponder over all ayaat specially 045:014.I hope that you are a genuine seeker after knowledge and not a person who is not yet Muslim and just wants to fence with Muslims.

Enough to read in these commentaries even after this debate that Islam is the solution to the problems of the world. This is said in the face of the miserable history of Islam in relation to those who do not agree with his tenets, nor of his rule by the caliphates over 1400 years. Also in spite of what Christ who was called the prince of peace never suggested that there will ever be peace in the world or fairness in the rules or justice under any system in the world. Even when the Torah was introduced by Moses who is greater than Mohamed, the laws never created a harmonious society, nor they were given to Moses to force them on the world. I hate to say it, that if this is the teaching of Islam, I dare to conclude that this is the ultimate ignorance and foolish prevention.

He says we should or would never debate whether Hinduism encourages oppression of women?????!!!!!! Really???!! Of course, we can, should and would debate that. Look at the ubiquitous oppression of women in India. Do we have to disregard reality?? I am not Jewish but I do know a great deal about the culture and the religion--peace is the highest most embraced ethic among the majority of Jews. So, no, I wouldn't debate it seriously--but it would be fun to massacre the opposition. Debating whether Islam is extreme is perfectly reasonable if we are living in and embracing reality. I think the first thing all non-Muslims and Muslims should do is read the Koran in chronological order--after Muhammed was in the majority--in power, all his pronouncements were warlike and violent and abrogated his earlier conciliatory statements, as regards Jews, Christians, pagans and dissenters.

Muslim Ant "There is no God but You!!" - Now all u need to do is produce merit worthy evidence for your claims, do u understand why there will always be people who do not believe as u do, simply because they demand higher standards of evidence for claims that are extraordinary, e.g. the existence of a supernatural being who u claim is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent?

"Liberalism's own belief that military expansion is the way to spread liberalism".... Am I seriously hearing this woman say that? She also says the notion that there is a connection between extreme violence of religion is "debunked"... Sorry, I'm a Muslim but I really don't see what we achieve by putting our head in the sand like this... Also, I've lost a lot of respect for Hamza at 33:00 when he is called out on previous statements. Instead of saying he has changed his opinion on these matters which he sometimes does say, he claims it's out of context. Disappointed.

Relax. The concept of shariah has very little to do with the debate in the first place. Theyre talking about extremism and what's Islams stance on it (in the title) not what the views of the panel are on shariah. Second of all Peter had little respect for the panel and audience. Face it he had an agenda in this debate which he wanted to carry out. The answers he wanted were yes or no. Legit the concept of shariah is so vast these guys couldnt answer Peter's questions in the time they have. Specifically why one of the panelists invited him for a coffee and a discussion. Shariah is not a term you can just loosely use such as in Peter's questions. Finally the idea of true freedom of speech does not exist. Peter even agreed with this point indirectly. He mentioned that people who advocate for violence against other Humans shouldnt be given a platform. Peter unfortunately had shown poor behaviour when it comes to debate. You don't force or barge your views or questions across in such a manner. Especially when you are talking about a topic not relevant to the debate.

Myth - Islam is a Religion of Peace>>>> So where did that expression come from? It turns out that there was a book printed in India in 1930 (and again in 1988) with the title - The Religion of Peace. The author was (Ishtiaq Husain Qureshi), a British-educated historian who was later involved in the establishment of Pakistan. Actually, as you will read below, it is derived from the word submission (to Allah and Sharia Law). A more revealing verse regarding “brotherly love” is Surah 48:29: “Muhammad is Allah’s apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.” Due to the Quran being comprised both of revelations received in Mecca when Muslims were outnumbered by non-Muslims and of revelations received in Medina when Islam was the dominate religion, Muslims can find Meccan verses supporting a peaceful Islam which were later overturned (abrogated) by the more militant verses revealed in Medina. Qureshi engages in some sleight-of-hand to underscore the brotherly love of Muslims for all people. His book, of course, was written before the partition of India, when millions of Muslims fled India to the newly-created Pakistan to avoid living in a mixed community ruled democratically by both Muslims and non-Muslims. Qureshi misquotes Surah 2:213 as “All men are a single nation.” The text actually explains that all men were a single nation until, through envy of one another, people began to dispute the good news and warnings of the prophets. A more revealing verse regarding “brotherly love” is Surah 48:29: “Muhammad is Allah’s apostle”. “Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.” How to be assured of Peace in Islam: The Quran reminds Muslim that those who “fight for the cause of Allah” are superior in Allah’s estimation than those who stay at home. (Surah 4:95) “Allah has purchased from the faithful their lives and worldly goods and in return has promised them the Garden. They will fight for the cause of Allah, slay and be slain. . . .Rejoice in the bargain you have made.” (Surah 9:111) A reliable Hadith compiled by Bukhari states, “I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “The example of a Mujahid (“one who engages in jihad”) in Allah’s Cause- and Allah knows better who really strives in His Cause--is like a person who fasts and prays continuously. Allah guarantees that He will admit the Mujahid in His Cause into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise He will return him to his home safely with rewards and war booty.” (52:46) What Honest Muslims Say about Peace: In April 2010, in the United Kingdom, Anjem Choudary, an Islamic radical, said, “You can’t say that Islam is a religion of peace, because Islam does not mean peace. Islam means submission. So the Muslim is one who submits. There is a place for violence in Islam. There is a place for jihad in Islam.” He also said, “The Koran is full of, you know, jihad is the most talked-about duty in the Koran other than tawhid belief. Nothing else is mentioned more than the topic of fighting.” (There are 164 “jihad” verses in the Quran, including passages that mention a military expedition, fighting, or distributing war spoils.) In June, 2014, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-appointed caliph of the Islamic State (ISIS), said, “Islam was never a religion of peace. Islam is the religion of fighting. No-one should believe that the war that we are waging is the war of the Islamic State. It is the war of all Muslims, but the Islamic State is spearheading it. It is the war of Muslims against infidels.” (Sharia Law - Reliance of the Traveler - defines under “objectives of jihad” as the caliph making war on Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax - (Para. o9.8.) So the next time someone touts Islam as the “Religion of Peace,” ask him/her to show you where it says that in the Quran or in a hadith. They can’t, because it isn’t there, and it never will be.

@@veganath The way he acted was very childish. In a muslim country yes I agree with the capital punishment. Regarding homosexuality in terms of the act and that their are 4 witnesses for all the cases. Also regarding apostasy depends on what the apostate does. @veganath
@veganath 4 года назад
@@SudaneseChamp *"The way he acted was very childish"* or he was simply a minority standing up to censor bullies. The question Peter asked for clarification on was a binary question requiring YES there are circumstances, NO there are no circumstances. Why were the panel reluctant to furnish the answer on a public forum?? Why?? The details as you elaborated on are not necessary. Both he and I simply want to know if under Sharia there are circumstance were people can be put to death for the inherently non-violent acts stated. *"homosexuality in terms of the act and that their are 4 witnesses"* if someone needs to resort to sexual activity in public then that speaks volumes to their state of mind and sense of spiritual grounding, the death penalty is not what they need they are sick, they deserve compassion for the unfortunate state of mind they are living with. *"depends on what the apostate does"* if they are non-violent then where is the need to initiate violence against them e.g. the death penalty. This is the 21st century not the 6th century we humans can do so much better, we have evolved many ways to resolve conflict and it doesn't include resorting to violence!! It should be noted that your prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him (in future please assume out of respect that any time I reference your prophets I implicitly infer Peace Be Upon Him/Her(female prophets??) & for the sake of expedience and not losing intelligibility I will refer to your prophets as Mo & Jesus Christ as JC, I can never get the spelling right for Mo, sorry) as you say advocated for the death penalty for homosexuals and adulterers, and yet your prophet JC forgave an adulterous women who due to the economic pressures as we still endure today resorted to prostitution. Few Islamic laws do not sum up everything about Islam. Those punishments have conditions, have several steps and regulations. For instance, punishment of stealing is cutting off the hand. But, if that person steals for he is hungry, for he is a miskeen, someone who needs support, then in that case the government he's living under is to be blamed and the leader must be held accountable. But since (unfortunately there isn't any Islamic country that actually follows Islamic laws properly) there is no Baitul-Maal, where there is help for the the poors and the people who are needy, the miskeen, the ruling of stealing the hands do not apply. Because the government has not instill Baitul-Maal process in the country. A reason why Dr.Anas asked Peter to come over to have coffee and discuss about it. It has many sectors and conditions for the rules to be applied and a lot more to know about Islam before jumping into irrelevant conclusions. But what will media do? They will shout Muslims are so evil to cut off hands for such trivial reasons ! What will people like Peter do? They will stick to their mindset and remain ignorants but won't digest or accept a race. Nor will they spend time exploring a religion followed by billions ! A religion which has the highest convert rates. C'mon don't you think they checked Islam and it's laws before accepting? May Allah(swt) grant us deep understanding of Islam.
