The only reason I think differently from Tua vs the argument of everyone is getting concussions is how he looks when he gets them. Not a doctor but they look really scary.

The most concerning thing is this was NOT a hard hit at all….

Tua should listen to his doctors. His doctors, not the team’s.

He also had the "back injury" in 2022 that was clearly a concussion but the Dolphins did not classify it properly.

I think he should reach out to Andrew Luck and speak to him, could get some good insight

Going into a fencing position once is bad but twice is beyond that.

One thing I notice about Tua and not as much on other players is that he tends to lock up or seize more when he gets hit like this. The other time he started running and just fell down. That is the most concerning thing for me for him. He seems more prone to more significant immediate side effects and possibly more long-term.

I'm a big boxing and UFC fan. Guys who get knocked out badly more than once are never the same again. They are severely more likely to get knocked down again with less force than previously. It's like they have a shutdown button installed on their chin.

Tua seems like a great dude, and as someone who watches UFC on a regular basis, you do not see guys throw up gang signs after a heavy hit like that very often. Even when they’re getting flatlined by a headkick. It’s difficult, but man from an outside perspective it’s hard not to say that he shouldn’t be taking those hits anymore. Regardless of whether he’s a “football guy” or not.

It's not just the fact of him having concussions, it's the fact that EVERY TIME he gets 1 he postures, those are MAJOR damage to the brain. A "regular" concussion is bad enough but when your entire body seizes up that's wild

Former EMT with a degree in Neuropsychology here. Up to him if he plays or not but 3 major concussions puts you squarely in the danger zone for drooling on yourself at age 40. Former Colts wide receiver Austin Collie called it quits at 3.

That wasn't even that big of a hit tbh. You're more prone to concussions when you've had a few. He should absolutely retire before his brain turns to mush

If I were him, I'd step away. Look at what happened to ppl that suffered these concussions. Their quality of life is ish. Look at A. Brown! He needs to retire enough is enough. How many times we gonna see him experience effects of a concussion on the field. This is a serious matter this man life is more important than football.

The problem is that the symptoms aren't going to manifest right now. So while he may feel fine in a week, he's making his retirement worse and worse with every concussion.

We just don’t wanna see the headline in 20 years “Tua found dead in murder suicide” we’ve seen it too many times it’s not just his life he’s putting in danger. Everyone he loves will live with the fear he may wake up & no longer recognize them. How many more documentaries or Zac efron wrestling movies do we need to see to know how terribly this will end up if someone doesn’t stop him.

The only reason that super mild contact caused a serious concussion is because of his history. If he keeps playing it will happen again, and it’s probably going to be much worse. It’s not a question, just a matter of when. Of all people, out there running beyond the first down, not sliding, not wearing a cap, he just showed everyone that he can’t make the decisions he should to protect his health. So how does Miami and the league want this story to end? Either he leaves the game on his own will now or he leaves the game on a stretcher in the future. Those are the choices. It shouldn’t be hard to make the right one.

Was working on my car when I got a notification from the nfl app “Tua leaves game with concussion” and literally my first thought was “damn the dude needs to retire” then I went inside and saw the clip smhhhh dude seriously needs to retire lmao!!!!

At the very least, he should take a significant, significant break. Maybe done for the season.

The problem with concussions is that after you have as many as he does, you are prone to getting them again and a lot easier then before he had a single one. If he wants to live a long healthy life he should retire.

I am snowboarder from northern Utah from the ages of 16 when I could drive till 23 I was averaging between 70 to 90 days on the mountain every winter, with that being said I suffered my third and worst concussion… I won’t go into what happened to the aftermath of it was I stood in front of the mirror in the men’s bathroom at Brighton resort starting at myself and I just kept saying “what happened” That continued for 45 minutes… Lucky enough I was riding with some Homies and they went and got ski patrol ski patrol told them that I should go home, as we were walking to my car… I make a hard left and start walking towards the left, and my friend stopped me and I like “what are you doing?” “Snowboardbig!” I replied… And I said no you have a concussion we’re going home,?I said “What?” That’s my friend started to realize how bad it really was… it wasn’t until we got to the bottom of the canyon that I started to realize my brain kept resetting… when I was in the bathroom for 45 minutes it kept resetting every 20 to 40 seconds… By the time we got to the bottom of the canyon about an hour and a half later I remembered I had a concussion but I couldn’t remember how but my brain was resetting every minute and a half to two minutes. Concussions are not something you should mess around with, sure you are young guy you think you’ll bounce back.. But CTE Is a real thing, and that concussion “depression” will enter your life after a year or two… I’m not Tua, I’m not a dolphins fan. I’m a human being with personal experience of concussions… and unlike me, tua will have every medical thing under the sun so evaluate him. I hope he is okay, and so hope he does not jeopardize his entire future.

My dad said the NFL might just tell him hes done and cant play after a Dr's diagnosis because if he gets hit too hard again and cant get up the NFL would be done forever.

I've hit my head pretty gnarly from skateboarding which is a completely different sport, but I've never had a reaction like Tua's once hit. That's pretty insane man. I'd just advise he makes the right choice for himself man. I love watching him play, but I understand.

If he plays again, it will happen again. There’s no sense in continuing, it’s over. It doesn’t matter how he feels about it or how anyone feels about it. It wasn’t even a hard hit. He’s gonna take one hit and it’s gonna happen again. And we’re talking about football here it’s not like it’s tennis.

It's his decision to make obviously. But my concern is what more can they do to protect him? He already has a specialized helmet for him. He's already taken classes to help him fall safer. Every position has concussions but his are pretty routine plays. So i just don't see what more his camp can do to reduce the risk.

Wouldn't be surprised if the NFL gets one of those doctors telling us he'll die or be paralyzed if it happens again, to recommend he's never clearing protocol and Goodell makes a press conference.

My son got two back to back concussions and a 3rd months later when he was 7. The second one he barely even fell but the first one was bad severe vomiting etc. I decided at that point I could never let him play football the game I loved so much. He’s 20 now and I wish he would have played but not at the cost of brain damage. He needs a year MAYBE 2 off. Concussion protocol can’t apply here based on a wet fart will give him a concussion. The brain needs TIME. For the record I love football, but I love my son more.

It may be too soon to have him retire, but acting like he's got one more knockout shot in him then he can retire is crazy.

This shouldn’t be a hard decision. Have a doctor say it’s not safe for him to sustain another concussion so that he can be medically retired and get the rest of his $$$. Simple as that

It doesn’t matter if it’s “difficult to tell him he can’t play.” The league has a responsibility to its players to protect them, even if it’s protecting them from themselves. He should be paid out his injury guarantees for his contract and the nfl should tell every team they’re not allowed to roster him.

If I remember right...Steve Young shut his career down after getting a rather nasty concussion, which was his 8th If I remember...while still having plenty of career left. All of that was before the revelation of CTE...

Rodgers had a few concussions early in his career, probably not as many as Tua, but I remember a lot of people saying he needed to retire. Rodgers even started wearing an oversized helmet afterwards that looked really gumpy. It all worked out I guess because he stopped wearing that helmet and it hasn't been a issue since. Every situation is different though.

Let's not make this a stand against "woke media" boys. Of course it's ultimately Tua's decision but he's been knocked out in scary fashion at least 3 times now just in the NFL. It's a fair opinion/observation

i played football for 4 years and got two concussions. i stopped playing after my junior year of high school. i’ve subsequently gotten two more from my current job. i’m 32 years old and i find myself fumbling over my words and just not feeling as sharp as i should. and i’m just a civilian. it’s obviously up to Tua, but he has a whole life ahead of him that he needs to think about. he’s made enough money that he’ll be taken care of for quite some time if he’s been smart with it. he can retire now and say that he’s been a national champion and a pro Bowler. even if he never throws another pass, he’s achieved greatness and can be proud of that. i just hope if he chooses to keep at it, that he really takes care of himself and that the Dolphins take care of him as well.

His mom wanted him to quit after the '22 season and he was seriously thinking about it. I suspect his family will want him to shut it down. Actually wasn't that violent of a hit just ran into the guy neck got bent awkward angle and he went to sleep with the fence posture. I have watched a lot of football can't recall ever seeing it once besides Tua and he has a triple. Mention one name that can summarize possible results from repeated concussions Junior Seau.

It’s not only that it’s about Tua’s life and career. It’s that his brain is actually already so damaged, he’s medically incapable of making the decision to hang up the cleats. I agree he’ll feel fine in the next few weeks. But by the time he’s 40… the guy is going to be really struggling with memory. He’s made the money. Go live the rest of your life.

It’s not about whether or not Tua can go back out there play. I’m sure he could go back and still have some very good games. Question is how many more times can he afford these kinds of injuries before it has permanent lasting affects on the rest of his life outside of football, and continuing to play worth the risk.

Sorry, but it's not just about Tua. Which defensive player wants to be the one that finishes Tua just by getting in his way like Hamlin did? Tua CONCUSSED HIMSELF for God's sake. Hamlin cradled Tua, he did not tackle him. Screw his feelings. He's a grown man. Put him in the booth calling games. You think someone wants to live with finishing Tua by being in the vicinity? Von Miller was pulling up ALL NIGHT. Why? Because he didn't want to hurt Tua. Result... Tua concussed HIMSELF anyway.

It’s as plain as this. We like big hits as fans. We don’t like seeing someone potentially die on the field. That’s what this is nearing.

Tua works (under contract) for the Dolphins. They will either convince him (negociate $$$ with him) to quit, or outright cut him. They can't have a high probability knock-out case QB taking the field every sunday. It will freaks everybody out and untimately hurt the team too much at this point. They took a chance on him with that big extension, they lost. Time to cut their losses and move on.

Hopefully this message gets to you Pat for consideration for review. I’m a retired 22 year AF vet. We have this thing called “medboard process” where docs determine if an Airman is capable of performing their duties. If not, they will either discharge or medically retire the Airman. How does the NFL not have a similar process?
