Black speed knobs Black Pick Gaurds w/extra pickups switch for 12 str side pick up selector N/B /Both. I love the Sg;'s i have I just wish they were thicker & a bigger neck.

The richlite not swelling like wood may be why the fretboards separate on some. The mahogany neck changes but the board does not.
@oskarileikos
@oskarileikos 4 года назад
That might explain it at least partly. Still, maple, mahogany, rosewood and ebony are all different woods with different densities, so a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard would have a similar phenomenon happening: the less dense one of the two will swell more when exposed to humidity.
@angry546
@angry546 4 года назад
@@oskarileikos , Petey is correct. I have a nice collection of vintage guitars, and they all have one thing in common. They are all made of real wood, and expand and contract pretty much equally. No issues I can see, anyway. Whatever the neck wood is, it will change slightly but plastic will not. How many Ovation's are left in one piece, with plastic backs and the rest wood?
@oskarileikos
@oskarileikos 4 года назад
@@angry546 okay, I take your word! My theory was not based on anything I've ever experienced, only my own assumptions. Never seen an olf Ovation but I don't think they age well, do they?
@daemonelectricity
@daemonelectricity 4 года назад
@@oskarileikos yes, but there would probably also be some moisture exchange which would maybe keep the shrinking and growing in sync. It definitely would still create internal stress over time, but maybe more gradually.

Richlite is an effective material. I have a Gibson Hummingbird AG which has a Richlite fretboard, The guitar sounds phenomenal, even though I was skeptical of the material at first. I am not sure about the fretboard on this SG, but it does not look like it was either finished well or someone took an abrasive to it. The fretboard on my Hummingbird is finished nicely. Being a wood-based (paper pulp) composite, it is incredibly strong and stable. It doesn't envoke the aura of ebony, but it is a solid fretboard material that plays like ebony.

I own one and it is a quality, great sounding guitar. Because of the larger, thicker body and neck ( If you're used to standard SG's.) it can be a bear to play. But with the right distortion it's a monster. Inversely, with the coil splits I can get a nice clean almost Strat like tone that sounds beautiful with chorus/reverb. I bought mine new and it's still in primo shape. When they first came out they didn't seem to sell well but I'm glad to see them becoming more appreciated like they should.

I love it. The first thing I would do is remove the push pull pot for the neck pickup and install a red kill button. Then locking tuners. I have no issues with Richlite, it affects nothing. If you’re one of those tone Nazis who think it has some affect on tone, you need help. And I have huge hands and stand 6’6 so that guitar would be very comfortable and look proportional to me. The $ is a little salty for my taste, but I would buy in a minute
@alabamahebrew
@alabamahebrew 4 года назад
Lol I literally just made a comment about not liking the richlite board then I saw your comment. I honestly never really had much of an opinion of them either way, if I bought a guitar and it had it, so be it. But.. after seeing it zoomed up on todays video I kind of determined that my preference would be to NOT have one. I love the ebony boards with the wood grain being able to be seen, richlite is just flat as you know. Plus, using water to clean anything on my guitars just seems so wrong ya know? Lol, but no it wouldn't stop me from buying a guitar that had one. As for it affecting the tone, Hmm I dunno - I know that I can tell a difference between a maple board and a rose wood or ebony BUT.. I truly believe when we experience things like that it is usually caused from the way we are playing the instrument and how much pressure we are applying. Maple has a different feel so someone used to say Rosewood might play the maple neck differently, see what I mean?

Intriguing video. I've never played an SG. But the larger scale lenght is interesting to me, moreso on the SG than with a Les Paul, for some reason. I'd give this guitar a go, even if it feels larger than normal. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to adapt.

you could use an s1 pot a s a killswitch, you would however likely want to use different knobs so they all kind of go together. no new routeing required this way. and if you are mechanically inclined, you could mod the thing to be a killswitch in the more traditional arcade style.

Trogly, if you put your guitar strap out towards your left shoulder joint, you will have less neck dive. Also, my chiropractor told me one should wear their guitar on or near the shoulder joint, because hanging something that weighs 10 lbs around where your neck meets shoulder could cause muscle pain, if you play a ton.

You can get a push push style kill switch that can replace a volume or tone but would still be a control rather than the modded arcade buttons Buckethead uses (well originally they were modded arcade buttons I think they get made specially now). You find them a bit on guitars with just one control. If you can find the 27" Paul Landers LP that basically the same as the BH but in flame retardant black and has EMGs and just a single volume.

I'm looking at buying my first high end acoustic and I'm hoping for some feedback from seasoned experienced players. I personally really don't like the idea of a synthetic fretboard like richlite and would absolutely prefer ebony or another wood board. Has anyone here bought a richlite fretboard guitar? Does it feel the same? Is it not a big deal to you? Any help would be appreciated.

Imho, stay away from Richlite. Especially on an Acoustic guitar. If money is not an issue? Go with Gibson, Martin or Taylor. Personally I like Big Bodied Acoustics, i.e. Gibson Dove, Gibson SJ Model, (Super Jumbo) Or Taylor Grand Auditorium is really nice! The prices vary wildly depending on what Woods you prefer.Then there is Guild USA. Very nice stuff, been around a very long time too. Then you can check out Martin. They too have many many diff models. Again the prices go from $1200 to $10,000. Remember, Do not be in a Hurry. Go and play different guitars. This will be an investment you can pass along to your kids or Grandkids. Good Luck and enjoy!

Awesome, Trogger! Let me get that white beauty for 300$, pleeease. Lol just kidding. That is a beaut, though! I'd go full-on Doom Metal with that guitar. Edit: that thing sounds freaking bubbalicious.

What can you do to put me down for getting a Buckethead SG like this? Want money now? Best sounding guitar demo’d on your channel to date!

I'm gonna be picking one up in a few days for a partial trade. Has some dents and dings as well as a good amount of yellowing. If you're interested, I can put it on Reverb or something.

Players grade for me, not a collector, if it is is in good sounding condition, then that’s good enough for me.
