I moved from Atlanta to El Paso , after 2 years I'm going back to ATL. Wages were way lower than ATL and it was harder for me to survive, I was coming out under- weekly- monthly etc Tax in my house was 4,800 for a house valued at 155,00 in the lower valley.
I hear you, definitely helps to ensure you have your home stead exemption. Congress recently passed a bill which will help tremendously with taxes, originally the tax exemption only covered up to 40k of the value of the home, now it’s up to $100k 🙏🏻 it’s helping a lot of families, happy to help if you have any questions!
Same here. We came from California, and the wages here are meager, and most jobs do not give you full-time. The lack of diversity was also prominent. We plan on moving to a larger city in Texas or possibly Atlanta.
It really depends what industry you’re pursuing. I believe anywhere you go, you will always be compensated in direct correlation to your skills. Take Atlanta for example : As of April 2023, the cost of living can vary widely between cities due to factors like housing, transportation, groceries, and healthcare. Generally, Atlanta, Georgia, is known to have a higher cost of living compared to El Paso, Texas. This is largely due to higher housing and transportation costs in Atlanta. 1. Housing: Atlanta’s housing market is more expensive than El Paso’s. The median home cost is significantly higher in Atlanta compared to El Paso. Renting in Atlanta is also typically more expensive, with costs varying greatly depending on the neighborhood. 2. Transportation: Atlanta might have higher transportation costs due to the necessity of commuting longer distances and potentially higher fuel and vehicle maintenance expenses. 3. Groceries and Healthcare: Grocery and healthcare costs in Atlanta are also likely to be higher than in El Paso, but the difference may not be as pronounced as it is for housing and transportation. 4. Utilities and Miscellaneous: Utilities (like electricity, heating, cooling, water, garbage) and other miscellaneous costs (such as dining out and entertainment) can also contribute to the overall higher cost of living in Atlanta compared to El Paso. Bottom line, all places that pay you more in terms of hourly wages will always have a higher cost of living. That’s the unique aspect about El Paso, most people start up business on the side and end up leaving their 9-5 to become entrepreneurs which really seems to take of due to the support of the community (if you get involved enough to bring exposure to your business). Most of us who are born and raised here definitely see the growth and opportunities. Hope this help at least gain some perspective 😀
I dont understand with the poor construction El Paso texas? Its like they dont believe in putting propper ceilings in there homes then they wonder why the electric bill is so damn high.So many corners they cut in in el paso construction
I dont know why anyone would ever settle in El Paso.?Its like living in Juarez Mexico except there is no cartel and the quality of the houses of el paso are complete garbage with cheap illegal alien labor.Even how the houses are made the quality is incredibly poor and 3rd world like quality.
I do think you get what you pay for. Not all builders are the same but again, we all have different opinions. Anyplace you go to will always have its pros and cons. “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorns have roses.” - Alphonse Karr
Cost of living used to be low in El Paso, but the housing market has become efficient with the rest of Texas. Further, I traveled to LA recently, and besides the lower cost of houses (compared to NY or CALI), the groceries cost about the same. Traffic congestion in LA was way worse during rush hour, but the drivers in El Paso are horrible. I would argue driving in LA outside of rush hour is better than in El Paso. The only reason why housing is lower in El Paso now in comparison is because of outrageous prices in Cali, not because it’s lower than the other states similar to those mentioned in the comments (GA, UT). Also keep in mind, prices for everything have increased since this video posted.
I totally hear where you’re coming from, and I understand why the cost of living and traffic are big factors when comparing cities. But it’s important to remember that El Paso and LA are very different in terms of overall lifestyle and costs. For example, while groceries might seem similar in price compared to LA, the high housing costs, taxes, and other living expenses can quickly outweigh any savings on food. Here in El Paso, the cost of owning a home and basic utilities is much more manageable for most people. I do want to point out, from personal experience and traveling to LA frequently I do believe groceries and basic activities are a lot more expensive but once again that’s my own personal experience. As for traffic, LA is notorious for its hours-long commutes, especially during rush hour. While El Paso can have its moments of congestion, it’s nowhere near the level of traffic gridlock seen in LA on a daily basis. Ultimately, we’re fortunate that we get to choose where we want to live based on what’s important to us. Both cities have their pros and cons, but it’s all about what suits your personal lifestyle. Wishing you the best in finding what works for you!
I'm comfortable living here with my fam of 4. Born in EP, left for 10 years and came back. I'd say for an engineer here it is hard to find a career that pays a worthy skillset. I work remote/from home which works out but if I didnt, not sure if we'd still be here. Also the cost of living stated is a bit off... OH and I HATE TX property taxes. Might just relocate a few miles away an into New MExico!!
I understand that high taxes and challenges in finding employment can be frustrating. Texas, like many states, has its unique set of economic factors that can impact both residents and job seekers. While the tax rates may seem high, they often support essential services and infrastructure that benefit the community. I’ve traveled to many places with lower taxes and I would never live there given the safety issues and lack of infrastructure. Regarding employment, certain industries can indeed be more competitive, and it might require exploring different opportunities or even considering a career shift. Texas has a diverse economy, and there may be emerging sectors that align with your skills and experience. I appreciate your feedback and hope you find the right opportunities that suit your needs. Thank you for being part of our community and engaging with the content on our channel.
Definitely some places pay too low, however thankfully there’s a lot of opportunities for growth. I came from earning $16k a year, dedicated time to service people and that definitely changed dramatically. 🙏🏻
To afford a $2500 monthly mortgage you would need at least have $10000 a month income. How many people make that much, even with both spouses working? That is not realistic.
@@svtmach148 This lady is selling to the wealthy. Not the rest of us. Property taxes on houses in any county in Texas have gone up exponentially since beginning of 2021. Why? To feed and house all of the illegals crossing into the United States. Rent went up also by 60%. So, I had to move in with my brother in AZ. I am paying a fraction of the rent that I was going to pay after rent went up.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. I completely understand your frustration with taxes and the cost of living. It’s true, taxes are a burden, and no one enjoys paying them. However, when you compare the cost of living in El Paso to other major cities, it is more affordable in many ways. In fact, you don’t necessarily need to make $100k to afford a home here. With a low debt-to-income (DTI) ratio, many people qualify with an income of $50k-$60k. Renting, while an option, has its limitations - you're paying for a place you’ll never own, and rent can increase unpredictably. Buying a home isn’t ideal for everyone, but for those who are able, it can provide long-term financial stability. I work with clients across the financial spectrum, and I’ve learned that perspective plays a huge role. Focusing on personal growth and financial education has helped many of my clients create more income, but I understand that not everyone may see it this way. In the end, it’s about what works best for your individual situation. I wish you the best on your journey, regardless of the path you choose!
El Paso has been great. It has grown and expanded so much. Great place to raise a family. Retired here and don’t plan on leaving. There are plenty of things to do you just have to step out your comfort zone.

I am from PHX AZ. I would love to move to El Paso. But the property taxes are too high. It's almost like being exported. What is the state income tax there in El Paso. How does it even out?
Hello :) Thank You for watching the video, we appreciate the support. Yes ,we have heard from clients that have the same feeling however when it comes to income tax it is going to be around 6.25% and it is one of the things that actually helps with the improvement of schools, neighborhoods which definitely helps ensure that the area is invested in. An $18 billion tax break package by the Legislature this year will mean that most El Paso Homeowners will see the school property taxes, drop by hundreds of dollars. And for qualifying Seniors, the exemption reduces the property tax on the primary residence by exempting 50% of the first 200,000 in market Value.
really helphul for people who need help to mobe jus if you can do one or have one more recent, because I think prices incresed or mentione please, the inreased porcentage on this years
Many factors play at the monthly payment, Depending on your down payment and interest rate or buyer buy down this can vary but it’s definitely an accurate estimate. There’s people earning over 50k months, at which point it’s a lot more understandable to spend 6k on a mortgage😅
A lot has definitely changed, but I hear you El Paso isn’t for everyone. There’s actually a lot to do close proximity to El Paso but most people don’t go explore. If your looking for a affordable place to live and still have close proximity to places such as Ruidoso New Mexico to go snowboarding, places to go hike such as Guadalupe mountains, hueco tanks, Franklin mountains (to name a few) and amazing cuisine, its definitely a great place to live.
@@humbertovazquez3733some things good some not so good At least we are not being charged for the rain water that comes off the mountains Roger's was a funny man
I was interested in moving to ELP from Utah, because I thought it would be a lower COL, but now I'm not sure. In my experience, Utah comes in a little bit lower in everything you listed: House payment: $2,000 for 2,500 sq ft Electric: $75-100 Gas: $40-75 Water: $20-50 Guess I'm stuck here lol
Hi Jimmy, COL in El Paso is very similar to Utah. In terms of my comparison, we are a family of 5 and I charge my car at home, definitely plays a huge part in my electric bill😅, it definitely works out for me since I still save more compared to the cost of gas prices (I’m always driving). Hope this helps!
Terrible presentation too much use of the word " obviously", expand her vocabulary. Also keep her hands from getting in the way of the presentation. All in all I would not move to el paso. She makes the city's cost of living sound like Beverly Hills and unless your very wealthy you do not belong in el paso. Try again and gear the presentation to a more realistic audience and not one that a get rich quick one. Just an opinion.
Obviously, I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. With that being said, El Paso is nowhere near the cost of living in Beverly Hills. It’s astonishing how people who only spectate love to criticize people who are in the arena trying to make content to help folks who truly need more guidance. We work with clients in ANY price point, don’t be so quick to assume based on what you objectively want to see, this is a video intended to help people compare. Regardless thank you for watching and hope you have a fantastic day. 💫
Agreed.. just another basic women with one of the easiest licenses to get lol 😂 had no idea about macro economic and needs a commission… another pretty face without intelligence
