Amazing comprehensive answer according to the Shariah. However, I believe that a woman can directly deal with the opposite gender following the guidelines of Islam on opposite gender interaction, from behind a hijab, maintaining serious tone, and on work related issues. For example, if a Muslim woman is a CEO of a company and has male employees (like khadijah did), she can speak to them about their tasks, without side tracking the conversation or being friendly. Their are etiquette of interaction with the opposite gender in Islam, which does not involve absolute segregation but rather professional communication based on sheer proof from the lives of sahaba and the holy prophet ص. It is proven that there was never complete segregation between men and women even on the battlefield or in other works but rather a respectful etiquette of interaction. I agree to everything you said except the part that there should be separate premises for men and women. If this rule exists, this should apply to both men and women and moreso for men as they tend to fall into fitnah far more than women. However, without any discrimination, the muttaqun, whether man or woman, can guard themselves in mixed professional settings by lowering their gaze and keep communication restricted to necessary things.

Dear sister, I really like your answer and it's really logical but I find it really difficult to choose whether or not this segregation is possible in today's society, because even in muslim majority countries there is a lot of fitna. I am currently studying political science in the west and if i don't show up i will get expelled but to mix would defeat the purpose of hijab, wouldn't it? Nobody acknowledges that I dont want chit-chat, all classes have mandatory group work, this is just too much for me. My parents would be so heartbroken but i just can't disappoint Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

@@shaneanfriends well I am doing group works and some of my group members are male. My husband is aware of this. He is very practicing ma sha Allah but he knows I know my Islam and how I need to communicate with the opposite gender. My husband's business involves women too and he keeps his interactions limited. There was one woman he was really friendly with and even shook hands with her (which I would never do with the opposite gender, ever) and I took offense and told him that this is not acceptable behavior and Allah does not accept it. So he stopped interacting with that woman. I never felt any fitnah in my university or workplace, and only focused on my work but i think it's more difficult for men to be in mixed environments than women (I'm talking about practicing Muslims).

I agree. There are many Muslim women out there who have to fend for themselves. People will say, just get married. Good, practicing men are scarce and finding the right one for you is like a miracle. What with there being more women than men nowadays too. And here is why, in Islam men are allowed to marry more than 1. But a lot of women tend to dislike the idea of "sharing" their husband.

@@ojaswimr3245 Those rules are for our own good. Because God, The Creator of us and the universe, knows what's good for us. E.g: The scientific benefits of praying in Islam, there is wisdom in every move. Fasting the way Prophet Muhammad / Dawud (David in Bible) do. Which science have shown, cleanses the bowel. Obligatory charity for all Muslims, called Zakat. So we can share part of our (God given) wealth to the poor. Staying away from what God prohibits (Haram), like consuming any intoxicants or harmful substances to the body such as alcoholic drinks that loses your sanity, cause addiction, brain damage, prevent drink and drive. Etc,etc,etc. Seriously, if you really study Islam, you will know how amazing the rules are. Unfortunately, a lot of Muslims now care more about enjoyment in this world than following God's words. But I think Islam is truly beautiful and complete. All you need is a sane mind, and critical thinking. Alhamdulillah.

Do not worry. There are strict rules against sexual harassment in UK schools. Your wife is very safe working there and if she enjoys her job then it is good for her mental health. It is also very good for children to see people from all cultures so it is great that your wife works in a school.

@@luluah1198 yes there are plenty schools separate for male and female but the area where we lived in, those schools weren’t good “education” wise. Not good quality teaching etc and only the international schools were good which provided international education and the private ones were good and that’s the ones I went to and they were CO. In big cities like Islamabad and Lahore etc even those international schools have separate campuses for girls and boys but it’s difficult to do so in small cities where there’s not enough students. We were hardly 8 students in our GCSE class in total

Asalamulaikum, I am from the UK I have been working my whole life before and after marriage, alhamdulilah I have 3 children and my job has been fantastic and given me flexibility to work around my children however apart from the prayer room and the toilets there cannot be separate premises for men and woman it's not possible. I am in hijab when I am working I have my own desk space to work but men work in the same building so does that mean i can't work? How do women become doctors? A doctor refuse to see you because of the gender?

doctors can treat the opposite gender patients as it is necessity . Regarding office work, ur work environment comprises of free mixing and that is not allowed, sister. Can you try working from home/ also, if ur work is necessary for financial reasons then InshaAllah u can keep working there as it is a necessity.

You don't need to lower your gaze as long as your mind is pure and you are just doing your job. But for example suppose an extremely good looking person comes for a checkup. And your heart flutters looking at him/her. I think if you ask forgiveness, Allah will forgive you easily as long as you don't do anything bad.Because you had no control over that natural reaction. But remember you have to try your best to control your mind as much as you can. So at least you can say that you tried your best.

So, do not be too soft in your speech, lest someone having disease in his heart should develop fancies (about you); and do speak with appropriate words. so we can talk to non mahrams but not in a friendly manner. But we should be polite.

I would do is sing things that won't be haram and I would not show anything so I would have to dance, I hate dancing anyways because people dance sexually sometimes, I just hate those ppl that's why I wanted to sing without wearing any haram cloths or dancing moves, I not show my face or anything, I would just probably sing halal things that is all.

Quran 6:108 And do not abuse those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest exceeding the limits they should abuse Allah out of ignorance. Thus have We made fair-seeming to every people their deeds; then to their Lord shall be their return, so He will inform them of what they did.

The wisdom for wearing hijab is to prevent women from displaying their beauty to all man that may arouse/attract them. This is to protect from evil eyes, or harrasment of suspicious men. It also simultaneously help Muslim men from having lustful thoughts toward any women they pass by. But sadly these days, hijab has turn into fashion not like how Islam meant it for. Youngsters fail to be educated about this important fact.

However, in general, there are a lot of advantages to wear hijab, or wear loose modest covering outfit. Which is why it's an obligation in Islam.
