I don't understand why this question needs to be asked if you have SOOOOO MANYYY other halal options with literally the same concept in just another productname. Teach your kids that they won't die if they can't have MCdonalds or kfs. It's not that hard. We had nothing, no muslim resto's, no muslim dinners, just 1 halal butcher and i lived well hamdolilah the first 25 years. it's not even healthy and too expensive for only 3 bites: go to our muslim pakistani, indonesian, nigerian, turkish, afghan, bengale, algerian, somalian, egyptian, lebanese, syrian and morrocan brothers. For my understanding can anyone share a verse from Quran that says that “ any animal slaughtered without taking Allah’s name is haram” In my opinion its the other way round which is , a meat is haram if “it is slaughtered on the name of anyone but Allah” The above two statements are totally different. When Prophet SAW said “Say Bismillah and eat it”. Maybe he knew it was halal and that’s why he said that? Also, he SAW did not go out of his way to order food from a christian restaurant. It was an invitation which is different from a person choosing to eat from a restaurant out of their own accord. After hearing our Scholars, I believe that eating meat from people of the book is permitted as long as they slaughtered in the zabihah way and pronounced the name of the one true God. Which is what the Jews and Christians did in the past. In the present, only the Jews still follow. So Food labelled Halal or Kosher are permitted, no matter who under the sun serves it. If I am In doubt as to whether it is halal Or not, I totally avoid it because of the hadeeth that says, if you are uncertain about something, it’s best to leave it. Moreover, food - vegetarian, seafood, eggs, are available in abundance no matter where we go. I would not risk picking out the doubtful food to satisfy my desires to eat non veg. Err on the side of caution and eat either proper halal/kosher food - OR - pick veg/seafood. This is what I follow since 20 years in the west. Even in a non muslim restaurant, picking fries for example can be unhalal because many places tell me they use chicken oil to fry it. If their restaurant isn’t certified halal Or kosher, I will not order their fries. If I know that they have a separate fryer and dont use other food’s utentils in the kitchen then I would have it. Alhamdulillaah it is so so easy to ask a simple question and be sure before eating something. Meaning I do some checking and try my best to get the information before eating anything. Now if they lie or mess up, then Allaah does not punish or hold us accountable. All Allaah wants from us to be sincere and try our best, do our part. My personal opinions, to each their own ❤

If this generation is so tempted to eat at these non halal restaurants, where has our Iman reached? We cant even avoid eating these places even though we have halal options. We, as muslims should be proud of our customs and encourage these big chains to bring halal options
I follow the notion being discussed here. That is, the food at these establishments are not halal nor intended to be halal. They don’t run their restaurants with the intention of providing halal foods. And the Christians don’t follow the kosher laws of Moses. So that should give you a message that you are not eating in the way of the verses of the Quran. On the other hand, those meats, etc., from Orthodox Jews, is a different story. We may eat from their restaurants or whatever circumstances. Pretty straightforward. Logic in the concept prevails here. We can eat somewhere else. The Home cooked food is the best food . A balanced food with lot of veggies and fruits saves the medical bills. Excess meat eating is an addiction at the cost of health.

As Salam Alaikum, please clarify this for me, In the Quran, verse 6:121 of chapter 6, Sūrat l-anʿām (The Cattle), Allah says, "And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience". Other translations of this verse include: "Eat not of (meats) on which Allah's name hath not been pronounced: That would be impiety" "And do not eat of that on which Allah's name has not been mentioned, and that is most surely a transgression" Jazak Allah Khairen.
A very important feature of Halal meat is not only how the animal is slaughtered, BUT, it is how the animal was raised. Most people forget that fact! And l am not a fully practising Muslim.

Dr Zakir is the wisest scholar you can rely on.. Logical scientific answers.. as for the meat ,, why not have fish and eggs for as long as you want ,, healthy and cheaper...Im a regular meat eater but I was surprised in a recent trip to Europe that Halal and Kosher was prohibited by law ,, so what , even without knowing a clear answer I just ate sardines and eggs and fish ,, lost 5 kg , energy went up , skin better and above all felt a sense of peace and achievement .. I've heard both arguments and I agree with the other view. I feel like it's atleast logically consistent. It takes Quran as the starting point and brings an authentic Hadith to clarify the confusion . I mean how many Muslims go and ask butcher houses in Turkey to check whether the butcher is not an Athiest as the probability of him not being considering himself as a Muslim is quite high. Is that really more Halal than having a meat from a pre-dominantly Catholic country such as Mexico?
I cant believe why a Muslim ask this question. I stay in foreign country most Mcs Kfc etc are not halal. I educate my kids not to consume haram so as they grew they know as where they can eat halal food. I heard some actress ate pork. Please note the hadith where the prophet said, you say tasmiyah and eat was meat from recent reverts to Islam NOT ahlu kitab. And if a Muslim serves you meat you don’t need to ask but Sahabah were concerned if the new Muslims were doing tasmiyah or not.
Imam, the question is: Is the food you mentioned, halal for Islam, yes or no?! Islam is ONE. Islam is not all of these: Hanafi, Safi, Maliki or Hanbeli. Things in Hanafi that are haram are halal in Safi or visa versa, so that can not be in ISLAM!
Jazak’Allah Shaikh. I am a little bit confused on the taking of Allahs name part. Isn’t the actual verbiage that the food is prohibited if anyone name besides Allah’s was taken ? So if no name was taken at time of slaughter then that should be fine right? I know I’m getting into nitty gritty but if the intention was that we are allowed then I just want to be sure.
Taking name is basically from the belief of a muslim that Allah is the all mighty and with HIS name i take the life of this animal. This belief is not there in non-muslims

Method of slaughtering has to be islamic. Most non-muslims kill poultry by guillotine. When there's no option only then it can be consumed by saying Bismillah to save life

Dr Zakir Naik is not interpreting the Quranic verse of the Holy Quran of surah Maida correctly. Allah says, " Forbidden is...and on which the name of other than Allah is invoked", NOT as he translated "on which name of Allah is not invoked" It changes the meaning completely. Also it is narrated in authentic books of hadith that "Hz Aysha(ra) asked the Holy Prophet(sw) that many people visit us and offer meat as gifts. We dont know if they have invoked Allah when slaugtering. Should we eat it?" He replied, say Bislillah and eat it wholeheartedly"
Why does Hadis override the saying of the Koran?. If you follow the four imams you will constantly fight between yourselves. So following the Koranic directives is the best way to avoid confusions and frictions amongst muslims.

Actually in McDonald's they do not cross contaminate. They have different preparation areas for different products. You do not know anything about their food prep. The argument that we should check weather food is lawful before eating is the case of Ahlul kitab, then if the food is found to be lawful even if served by Hindus, we can eat it, why to segregate Ahlul kitab then? In kerala, many Hindu wedding parties serves Halal meat and we eat them. Halal meat can be eaten even if served by anyone. But food served by ahlul kitab can be eaten saying bismillah not having to look deeper into it is the relaxation. Living in a Muslim country I can never know for a fact if the animal slaughtered by a Muslim was Halal either. How come I should doubt non-Muslim but not a Muslim? Zakir Naik first of all need to understand that the "people of the book" as mentioned in the Quran is not existing today. The mentioning of the people of the book in the Quran is referenced to those people during the time of the Final Messenger of Allah who believed in the genuine and uncuncocted teaching of Jesus PBUH. The Christians of today who changed belief with disbelief by believing that Allah betook Himself a son, can in no way slaughter animals to make it "halal".

Im curious, is halal certification an innovation? The prophet never verrified if it was salughtered in a specific way. It was just assumed it was if it was from a jew or christian.
there is one question after living in the western country and in this field I came to know even the Jews who are slaughtering the animal (kosher) they don't take the name of Allah or their Lord, it is just the method they follow. Like for them it is mandatory to have very sharp knife (chalef) single cut throat.. but no where they mentioned about taking name of the Lord. so in this case is it still permissible to have such meat?
i live in Canada and will never eat from Mcdonalds or other restaurants that are not clearly certified by Muslim associations. But that being said, when Allah very clearly mentions in the Quran that you can eat from the plates of Christians and they can from yours, so why are we then raising further questions that Christians should be eating and serving halal slaughtered meat for muslims. If that is the case, then why did Allah even mention this in Quran and why did Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said to say bismillah and eat it. All these Ayats and hadith then becomes meaningless, if eventually only muslim halal meat can only be consumed.

Surah Maidah 5 stated that people of the Scripture of the food is halal to us. However, this verse is only talking about jews. The food of the jews is halal. The prophet was invited to eat by jewish lady after the conquest of khandaq is because of this verse. Yes when the quran says people of the scriptures sometime it refers to both jews and christians or sometime it refers to only christians or only to jews. So in this case it refers to jews only.
