I'd been drawing all my life. And now I learn that drawing faces is haram yet it is the only thing I drew ever since my childhood. I was heartbroken when learnt the truth and thought about leaving the only talent I have from Allah. It made me depressed for a while but now I have taken to drawing non-living objects and it is healing me to some extent.
It is a sad reality, but our houses are full of images, even food packages contain cartoons. There are a lot of Islamic pages making animations to make it easy to understand.🤔

I am an artist I make a lot of portraits and my thesis was in the portrait series but I heard about it but I thought I am not disobeying Allah I am just doing what I like and It is a gift from Allah but now I researched about it and I feel very bad that I did it. I completed my graduation in art and it became my profession and I realized now that it is totally forbidden
When I heard that sketching is forbidden in Islam, my heart ached. Whenever I'm upset, I sketch. Dr. Zakir Naik's words comforted me that we can't make pictures that have soul but we can make pictures of inanimate objects. So next time I will try to make sketches of trees mountains etc. Thank you sir .

From what I have read drawing facial features is forbidden as it seems like mimicking Allah's creation as well as drawing full bodies/naked bodies/complete beings..If you draw a body and remove a part of it with which it cannot live,then it is permissible,or if you just draw a head with no facial features *e.g a shillouette* its ok..Thats what I have read Im not sure if this is true or not but it makes sense.

If it is permitted to to draw to catch criminal.. so artist should be very perfect in it and perfection came from practice and for practice that artist will draw portraits but portrait is prohibited so how it is possible for any one get a job as an artist who draw to catch criminal ???
A person who does that is choosed by the police officer he's called forensic or composite artists. he makes sketches for criminal issues he's been practing it for a long time.

@@911beats بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم For the first part of question that how are forersics supposed to practice drawing or sketching. They are practicing it from start. There aim is to become a forensic and if that's the case maybe they can practice and the person who becomes forensic has an idea what they have to do, they won't just come up and say i want to be a forensic , they will have to know how to be a forensic and for the more practice they can learn for other forensics. Now if a person is drawing or painting tress and making sceneries, they can draw human too, they can sketch too, if someone is perfect at makeup, he she can sketch humans too. Likewise in studies it's allowed, doesn't practice come there too? It does.... For the second part of your question, It's written in sahih bhukari 6130 that Hazrat Aisha (ra) narrated : I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the prophet , and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for `Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) this hadith tells that it's fine for children to play with dolls but not after the age of puberty. It's written in sahih bhukari 3224 that Hazrat Aisha (ra) narrated : I stuffed for the Prophet (ﷺ) a pillow decorated with pictures (of animals) which looked like a Namruqa (i.e. a small cushion). He came and stood between the two doors and his face began to change. I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What did we do wrong?" He said, "What is this pillow?" I said, "I have prepared this pillow for you, so that you may recline on it." He said, "Don't you know that angels do not enter a house wherein there are pictures; and whoever makes a picture will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked to give life to (what he has created)?" Now for the 3rd part of your question, Sahih al-Bukhari 5951 Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Those who make these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them. 'Make alive what you have created.'" If you know that it is not permitted in Islam but still do it then you will be punished but if you didn't know you won't be punished... It won't be counted as a sin and Allah won't punish you for a sin about which you had no knowledge before. In the Qur'an Allah says: Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful. (16:119) About the 4th part of your question, you said that trees are also natural and have a life then why aren't it not permitted to draw it. As far as the loving thing doesn't a soul, it's permitted to draw as trees, mountains, sun and clouds etc doesn't have but the one who have gotten a soul like humans and, animals it's not permitted to draw them. i am very respectfully asking a question that he said "if police try to catch criminal and make sketch of the criminal by an expert sketcher ,so it is permissible to create sketch. My question is how a man can be expert in sketching without trying multiple sketch himself. So what will be about his previous sketch? I am an artist who can do both sculpture and painting in portrait. There are many students who follow islam in my class room, and I observed this issue why many of them are not interested to do portrait painting or Sculpture. An expert is a person, already made his study on a patricular subject or field...I never met an expert in my life who can do a human portrait or figure drawing succeefully without previous experience and I Know that what a great effort I have taken to become a portrait artist..... but, I hope according this preacher some Dentist can do heart surgery without previous experience !. He Is a Great Learner having good memmory but, I think if it is used for good purpose to make peace among all human beings that would be rewardable act in front of God who doesn't give 72#### with beauiful ###### and everlasting ######.
How can there be an expert portrait artist if the drawing or sketching of face or human is prohibited? I hope from the reasoning it is permissable to learn drawing or sketching for a greater cause or reason.

If Allah has prohibited drawing in Islam then their must be reasoning behind it. Even if your intention is not bad, It is not allowed to do so in Islam.
It's allowed if you ensure that no any women is recorded in Photography and no any music is there in wedding videography... Otherwise cut off this profession
i used to sketch but ended up destroying my drawings and ever since i have been confused about this matter . it has been stated at several occasions that images can be made for children but the one making them is an adult usually so how can he do it without practicing drawing pics under normal situatinos.

If it is easy u can do it.. But if it is not easy or not applicable in certain ways(lost etc) then you can ask Allah for forgiveness and never try it in future.
yes you have to destroy them because Angels not enter the home where there are portraits of living creatures whether drawn or in photography... You shouldn't even hang portraits on wall; destroy it or misfigure it or hide it so angels could enter

I have another question: what about diagrams of animals and humans? this is how young medical students can really understand the body and cure patients when they become a doctor.
I think it's permissible as he mentioned above that diagrams or sketches which are devoid of any particular features or details and are required for educational purposes, might I add that they have not been drawn at a full body scale representing all humanoid features, are not haram.. And in the medical field I'm pretty sure you're asked to draw a specific section or limb etc of the body and not the whole anatomy of a human till each facial feature.
@@rehmanahmed7466 but u need the details since the human body is a very specific system, faces also need to be studied in case of injuries and illnesses that are related to that area. plus during the time when Muslims were the pioneers of medicine they made drawings of full human anatomy with faces, nudity, etc. if it was really considered haram back then those physicians would’ve been shunned/punished and had their books burnt. That’s why I believe it has only been made haram by scholars recently.
If a person draws trees, of nature so he knows how to draw protraits soo he she can draw. if a person doesn't draw protraits and if he draws pictures of nature he's good at making protraits.

I think digital is allowed as it is saved in the cloud software. Physical copies of photos are not allowed inside house I guess. You can take pictures but not keep them maybe idk.
They used to be haram but now they are considered halal; provided there shouldn't be any photoshop or filter that distorts someone's face and/or changes his features...And lastly, don't hang pictures on wall EVER! Angels won't enter your home
I am an artist by choice with no formal training or any purpose to sketch. Drawing happened by chance in my life and I take it to be a gift of Allah. I have sketches of famous celebrities. Not their whole body but the face alone. I also never draw any fame of an idol that other people pray. Allah knows my intention that its never to claim my self any any creator but only as a talent of sketching. Please clarify @Dr. Zakir Naik, whether sketching only face with no hand or any other part of body will be treated as an incomplete drawing and thus may not be prohibited?
Dr. zakir also said that we should avoid making detail images and if required we can do sketches and illustrations without showing the detail of the face or draw the animal without the head.illustration like sillhoutte is still permissible i think.

This is a confusing topic. For example this video of Dr. Zakir is made of Pictures, (Digital video is movement of multiple photos). Are taking pictures allowed and drawing them prohibited? Or this is referring to making idols of living things? May Allah forgive us
Something like even make toys is allowed source from hadist about aisyah's doll, so i think for kid learning is okay and cartoon doesn't look like real poeple.
