Right! 720 at that screen size is relatively acceptable and plays well with all the vibrant OLED colors. What's the game that made you buy the OLED Switch?
Agreed, I bought a switch oled because I wanted to play Totk at the best quality out right now on the market for the switch, so while it may have been a dumb decision to buy an oled before the Switch 2, I'm still happy with my purchase amd love the oled, especially since I mostly play in handheld anyhow
I stop playing my PS5 over a switch lite. A switch lite!!!! It was so fun I bought an OLED and I haven't stop playing since February 10, 2023! So do what makes fun!
@@Particle_Ghost You'd have a better argument comparing ps5 to pc games but ps5 has numerous titles you cant play on ps4...ps5 overall is a better gaming experience. Switch is a nice alternative to an extend but still limited in terms of what games are available compared to ps and xbox
Secret sauce from Nintendo & Nvidia into the Switch that made it so special & hard to refuse it. I'm myself bought the Switch Lite early this year & planning to buy a Switch OLED this holiday ❤
OLED 2 is releasing soon i think, there's many sales going on right now. I saw some videos about OLED 2 if you want it. Otherwise get the OLED 1 on sale is worth it.
I've been rockin my launch switch and primarily played it docked. Ended up getting the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet edition OLED and now I primarily play in handheld mode. Colors just pop out more making it so much more enjoyable to play in handheld mode. Love my OLED and can't wait for the next gen!
This is exactly why the OLED switch is my first recommendation, if you're playing it handheld even 1/4 of the time, it just makes sense. The screen is so good and with Nintendo first party titles being really vibrant, I feel like they complement one another
I just upgraded to the oled and I absolutely love it! Even with the switch 2 rumors bumping around I am fine with my oled! I have more games than I would ever need on this amazing system!
I love the new basic color, the white doesn't flow as well with the black as the gray did, but it's nice to see that variation the white and black does!
I can see that, I moved all my accessories to white a couple years ago and now need everything to match lol But the matte gray definitely looks clean as well
Just started using my switch again. Still blows my mind how I can easily go from handheld mode to dock mode. Can’t wait for the new super bros wonder!!
Right! I like how I can go from playing on the bed or couch to setting up co-op on the tv when I need it. I've been playing some more Mario Maker 2 waiting on Wonder to release!
@@nerdgrafx yes actually i've been listing them for a while now😭😭 - animal crossing: new horizons - omori - resident evil 7: biohazard - the legend of zelda: tears of the kingdom - fatal frame - mortal kombat - mario kart and couple other games but idm if you could list some other games for me so i can look them up :)
@@spanoxiii Oh wow! That's already a nice list, one that I enjoyed playing through was Dragon Quest Builders 2 if you like minecraft building type games but with an actual storyline
That's great to hear! There's still a large library of games available this year for the OLED you can pick up while we wait for the next Switch console
I'm really torn, because I already have a switch lite and I really want the experience of playing docked and having the oled screen. I would also be able to put my switch to more use with being able to have joy-cons and such for more playability options. But just knowing that a new and improved switch could come out is nerve-wracking. It wouldn't be that I wasted my money, but knowing that if I had waited a little longer I could've gotten something a lot better.
I definitely understand you, which is why I would recommend getting a used one that works well and then you could sell it again at a possible $0 Loss and STILL get the next gen console when its out 😀 It's what I am currently planning lol
I've been wanting to upgrade from my Switch Lite to a Switch Oled for a while. Just because of the bigger screen & how freaking awesome the colors look. But I wasn't too sure if it'd have been a good idea with the potential new Switch coming. But now, I'm definitely gonna try to pick one up at some point.
Exactly! It doesn't seem that at least for this Holiday season, they will not be releasing a new one so you might as well treat yourself to an oled screen 👌
Right! When I was looking into getting mine, I looked at the release date and it took me by surprise since it felt like I had just recently obtained the regular switch
Great video man, I just bought the tears of the kingdom oled and have enjoyed every minute of it. Even though there’s switch 2 rumors in stuff I still think it’s worth it to get a switch even if switch 2 comes out tomorrow! Same games, same experience, no reason not too!
Thanks man, I definitely think so as well. I have been thinking about getting Tears of Kingdom to play through it on the switch. Do you recommend I play Zelda BoTW first?
@@nerdgrafx No you don’t need to play botw first. Tears of the kingdom is just a different story but, I do think botw is worth playing, not to mention totk is like the best game of 2023 in my opinion
@@Jaxondives Thanks for that info, I'll probably play through ToTK first since you're not the first person I've heard say it's a great game lol It's also my first zelda game so if I enjoy it, I can move to botw
Last had a Nintendo system back when GameCube was the latest console and I absolutely loved that thing (I was like 8-9 years old)…..I’m 30 years old now and it’s been nothing but PlayStation and Xbox afterwards. I’m glad after all these years to finally get my hands on a Nintendo system. Gunna enjoy those classics for sure!
Bought my 1st Switch on release day for the blue lite version 2yrs ago. In Feb I got white oled. 3 days ago went to gamestop n just randomly bought the Zelda oled. This is the greatest piece of hardware Nintendo has ever made. Even if Switch 2 came out tmrw I wouldn't buy it because of so many damn games still left to play. Stop overthinking n go buy it people. U know u want to~👋🤘🍄
Exactly this, it's a system with a huge library of games both first party and indie games that you could get a lot of use out of right now without waiting for the next one
I bought Switch Lite when it was released; played it for about 5 month and than sold it due to lack of free time. Today I bought Switch OLED and can't wait for it to arrive. The news that Nintendo will produce games for Switch until at least the end of the March 2025 was the decisive factor for me to buy the console.
I wanted a newer console so about a year ago I bought the Mario Day regular Switch bundle was going to get the OLED but didnt come with any games and costed more at the time! I mainly play mine docked so really not a big deal i got the OG version. Im glad I got the Switch over the XBOX and PS5. Only downfall im mad about is that theres no new WWE games on the Switch. I got AEW Fight Forever and its a great game as well as so many others especially the Sonic and Mario games as well as the Expansion Pack online with tons of old skool greats! Best part is Hulu and RU-vid also work on it. Great versatile console that started all these newer copycats.
Glad you've been enjoying your switch! It does lack a little with the library in terms of having all the titles that are already on other consoles, but the Nintendo exclusives make it worth it. It's still the king of handhelds because of those exclusives for me
I have the lite version, bought it back in Feb, truly a remarkable hand-held gaming console! But I find myself kind of curious and interested in getting the OLED but a part of me is also wanting to get a PS5, I'm torn 😂
These decisions are tough! lol They are completely different systems though. If you have been enjoying the Lite, then maybe get the PS5 so you can enjoy both systems and a larger library of games 🙂
I have two regular Switches "had one from my friend for free" i love them and have just ordered the Oled Splatoon 3 edition which looks amazing. I love the Nintendo Universe and this is the reason i stay with Switch. I have a gaming pc at home + several other smaller handhelds "PSP, PS VITA, New 3DS XL and a Miyoo Mini + but the Switch is my go to... I can´t wait for my Oled to arrive and will purchase Mario Wonder when it arrives :) i am excited for the Switch 2 but not sure if i am a fan of the rumors of a dual screen Switch... we will see what they come up with.
This is the way! I don't know how I would feel about going back to a DS design with the 2 screens, when really everyone just wants a better processor to run bigger AAA titles
Great and very well done vid Sir earned a like and subscribe. Question though there are these somehow believable rumors about the next Nintendo console/handheld and I've been going back and forth at our local gameshop thinking if I will buy the Zelda edition Oled. In your opinion is it worth buying despite rumors of a "Switch 2"?
Thank you! And it really depends on what you are looking for, if you already have a switch that you like and can wait up to a year, you should wait. But if you like the design of the oled Zelda switch and it's the one you want, I would say go for it. The new ones most likely won't come out with a Zelda skinned one from the start
Yea I can definitely see the new one having upgraded graphics and performance. What game or games do you wish played better than they already do on the switch?
@@NakamoriAra That would be nice, I saw some news as well about Activision talking with Nintendo so it might be a possibility of getting some first person shooters on the switch 2
@@NakamoriArathe Switch is the most powerful handheld already yes it has performance issues with a few games but some games have proven that the Switch is capable to running games at 60fps such as Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros Ultimate but only if those games are made for the Switch along with clever programming tricks. Plus remember that the Switch’s Tegra chip is under clocked by Nintendo so we’re not even seeing what it’s truly capable of.
Nice, I just got the switch, OLED, Mario red, edition a couple of days ago and I’m loving it so yeah definitely the switch OLED is worth it, especially with some great game still to come like super Mario wonder the thousand year door paper, Mario Princess peach showtime, dead redemption and more.
@@nerdgrafx thanks, I’m loving my Mario red edition Switch, it’s a fantastic console and I’ve got 2 of its best games in Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild along with Streets of Rage 4 which is fantastic on Switch.
Ugrh idk if i should get this now or wait for the model to come out. Itll be my very first Nintendo system in my life 😅. What u guys think buy now or wait?
Hi thanks for this video. I love my OLED and trying to get more use out of it. Any game recommendations? Last game I completed was Breath of the wild on New Year’s Eve
Thank you for your support! For game recommendations, I think Mario Maker or Super Mario Wonder are great for platforming and classic Mario, and you really can't go wrong with Kirby, Zelda TOTK, or Metroid
Thankfully all the talk about the switch 2 is driving down the used market. I got one that was only a few months old and lightly used for a steal. I’ve owned a few switches over the years and I’m amazed at the difference in screen quality.
Right! That's why with a lot of tech that I can wait for, I would rather wait to buy it used since the price difference is a nice difference most of the time
Doeasnt nintendo make subtle little changes to the consoles over the years to help improve it? I seen some tear down of the ps4 and ps5 where they showed that sony would make some hardware changes to the their console over the years. Has the switch gone through something similar over the years?
There has been "news" on switch 2 for ages now I doubt its true or atleast validated and confirmed officially by Nintendo if it is actually by Nintendo I would love to read it!
@@Vlovitz_ i notice dthat too. but the latest news being how the devkit is being demonstrated/distributed is lowkey enough and instead being very believable to me haha. but again, i also know/believe nintendo is that kind of company that is known to take their time slowly (historically they like to use "outdated" tried and true hardware, the rumours mentioning they are likely gonna use ampere architecture of nvidia)
Lol, hey man if you will enjoy the game and any other upcoming games for a while, you shouldn't regret it. There is nothing officially confirmed by Nintendo so it might be a next year release
Hey! I have Nintendo switch oled. I bought games dlc. Now I want to use eshop but it’s not available in my country. I’m in Pakistan so how can I use eshop? Can I change the region USA to download games and change it back after downloading? Or just keep it as USA region? Please guide me what to do? Anxiously waiting for your reply.
Could't agree more, especially if it is your first Nintendo system, there are tons of titles already out that you can pickup used for cheap and get a lot of use out of the oled already
@@nerdgrafx I have a dumb question because I am new to this....why must cartridges be purchased separately if there is a huge online database of amazing games????
don't get nintendo oled, i do sell my nintendo just few months after i got it, first the game is expensive as hell and u gotta pay subscribtion to play online so to play multiplayer u must pay! and most of the game that u wanna play on youtube is not available on nintendo and some that do got insanely bad graphics! i and the shape is not ergonomics its a pain to hold it for long, i really do suggest getting the steam deck oled!
well considering the price is still what it is, that should tell you that there's no Switch 2 just yet. now we know that's not always the case, but if your familiar with Nintendo's history, they tend to announce a price drop for an existing console. they did it with the 3DS, the Wii U did actually lower a little bit in the year when they first talked about the Switch. so they'll probably do something similar with the current Switch, according to IGN 2025 is likely the target year. if that does happen, then we should hear something this year.
That's a great observation! If they do release sometime in 2025, I still think a year's worth of regular switch games is worth it! Such a huge library already to choose from
@nerdgrafx yeah i just made a video talking about it, but it was more about what they might call it, and if it'll be backwards compatible. that's my only interest, i don't really care if the Switch 2 is less powerful than the PS5, even if it's only PS4 Pro level. i hava a funny feeling it'll be slightly more powerful than the base PS4 but a little less than the Pro. but my thing is the Switch library, which im sure they'll address that part. i would prefer physical, but digital wouldn't surprise me. i think Nintendo should look at the GameCube and what they did with the Wii, you can play GameCube game atleast on the white Wii. the 2011 black Wii but that's an exception. Switch games are small, so it's not like they'd have to do much to put a slot somewhere Switch would go in and that'd be Nintendo's way of addressing backwards compatibility.
@@Jeymez Agreed. I think at this point backwards compatibility is a must. Especially with the rise of retro gaming that has been happening lately with more systems to play Gameboy games releasing.
I'm still debating if I should buy the oled switch or just wait for the switch 2 that might be announced in march. I recently sold my v2 switch with some games for 290$, so im stuck with a v1 switch that I bought from my friend for dirt cheap so I can save my acnh and pokemon data. To be honest, I am not a fan of the v1 screen, it's more darker and just eh conpared to my old v2, not to mention its all beat up. I found a pretty good deal in my opinion on offerup for a near perfect condition Oled switch with 7 games for just 300$. I might buy it but just the thought of a switch 2 maybe being announced around the corner is holding me back a bit 😞
I would say go for it! It sounds like you are also a fan of moving around tech like myself lol If you buy the OLED used, you can always sell it later as well and possibly get back what you paid for it, but still enjoy the screen for 6 months. Getting back roughly what you paid for it is one reason I try to buy used tech as much as I can
I have the lite think i am going to upgrade to the oled next month😊. I already have a ps5 and hopefully a finished pc soon so i just want it for Nintendo games and cozy games. Any AAA will go to the other devices.
Mario Party Superstars it's a must buy, Smash Bros is good. Any Overcooked is good and cheap. Move or Die is amazing. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe coop mode is fun too.
Moneys tight i only had a PS5 but managed to get a Switch oled a few months ago but only have BOTW atm and ive been playing it loads, i just need more games now hoping Nintendo does a selects range i remember from the past as i really want to play more 1st party Ninty games
Oh nice! Glad you're enjoying your switch, same here, I've been mainly going through PS Extra library right now, but then jumping back to Nintendo first party games
If you play in handheld mostly, I would recommend going for the OLED instead of waiting. Holiday sales are coming up as well which might get you a good deal
Definitely agree with this, especially on the retro games part. There is just something that feels different when playing retro games on the switch over other handhelds
That's what I'm thinking as well. There's a very low chance that gaming companies stop making games for the Switch oled and the library that is already available is great as well
the lite is nearly half the price in my country but man....the smaller screen and lack of docking is too much for me since even if i am mostly going to do handheld i know i will regret not atleast giving myself the option to play on my monitor
@@nerdgrafx tbh there is a store near me where i can return products within 30 days so long as they are not being done with a monthly pay if you dont like the product….might try the lite first then just buy the oled instead if i dont like it
@@gmoddude12 That's a great plan, I also believe saving money is a big factor here, so if the lite works for you, there is no need to go for the larger one. We'll still get the same games and releases!
With how this console generation is going if Nintendo plays their cards right on the next Switch, they will demolish Xbox and Playstation in a very embarrassing way
They definitely can do a lot better, if they can make a system that can run larger titles and then get companies to have them available for Switch at their full power, it would be a great system!
In a word no! It is hopelessly outdated with poor graphics and trying to play online games is hopeless with the limited download speed. When will nintendo release a console with decent power underneath to play games properly.
Ohhh this one is definitely on the list, upgrading to the PS Extra next month and that was one on the list to try out right away. Thanks for the recommendation!
See I bought a regular Nintendo switch I don't use it often but I want to see the next gaming device that Nintendo has to offer and I will probably get it but I'm fine with my regular Nintendo
This would be a good reason I can see to wait. If you aren't using it all that much, the regular switch should work well enough to get you to the next gen release!
That's what I'm thinking as well so I got it to enjoy the new games coming this fall/winter. What feature are you looking forward to on the new switch 2?
@@nerdgrafx I honestly have no idea what they're gonna come up with, so for now I'm excited for greater power and ability to run heavier games. Hopefully they keep the OLED screen as a standard issue too
@@HandledToaster2 I definitely agree. If they’re leaving the portability aspect of the switch in, they need to keep the OLED screen, it just would make sense at this point
I went for the OLED the Zelda themed one and ive been loving it, im a big Zelda and been playing docked and handheld great mixture and tears of tge kingdom is amazing! Hopefully the next switch will be backwards compatibility super switch or whatever it will be called? 🌟🫂😎
That's great to hear, I also hope it's backwards compatible. I don't have the biggest library of games, but the ones I do have, I wish to continue playing!
