Is it worth it to install Asus AI Suite 3 and Asus Armory Crete?

Every OEM wants you to install their software. Some times that software can be beneficial and improve your PC experience. Some times that software can be downright destructive to your Gaming Performance.
In this video I look at the Pros and Cons of the software that could come with an Asus ROG motherboard. Specifically I focus on the AI Suite 3 and the Armory Crete. I conclude by offering a recommendation of which to install if either.

I actually have been battling my fan curves like crazy since getting the Dark Hero. However I decided to install AI suit and run the auto fan tuning and holy hell its amazing. Lower fan speeds and lower temps... wow..

thats in the bios...qfan tuning. dont need the suite. anything else thats useful in there?

I'm honestly very curious, if your fan speeds got lowered how did your temps go down? Wouldn't the lower air flow result in higher over all temps?

I wish Asus would just give us a lightweight RGB control app for Asus products, with no strings attached. Everything else is run thru control boxes like Corsair, Lian Li and NZXT, which is where you'd do your RGB/Fans anyway. Yes it would be nice to have one client to do everything but that will never happen and stuff like OpenRGB is cool and promising but I found it limiting in my used case...needs a lot of things added.

All this added software makes my head spin, not to mention consumes system resources. However, I am not narrow minded. When I perform a clean install of Windows 10 and or 11 Pro versions, I obtain all the necessary drivers from Asus's website, my hardware drivers, and Windows Updates. Once I set up my system, I create a system image (A Picture of the O/S, Files, Configurations, etc.) Now I am ready to try out the software that Asus is offering. I do like AISuite 3 because I like to have access to system temperatures, especially the processor. I've tried the xPert software for the fan calibration. It makes me nervous when I see the processor's fan stop for at least half to a full minute during the process. The Armoury Crate is needed for the lighting (Unfortunately) However, I do like the fact that it performs a driver(s) update, and offers drivers that are not currently available on Asus's Support website. (What is up with that??????) There is a downfall to this software, the BIOS update. I believe was mentioned in the video. I download and install my BIOS/UEFI updates manually. The current BIOS for my model (Z590 Plus WIFI Motherboard) is 1203, dated 10,2021. However, the software informs me to update my BIOS to 820, dated. April, 2021. Naturally, this incorrect and has been brought to the attention of Asus, along with screen shots. I am curious as to how long it will take for them to fix this problem. There is another software package that Asus attempts to shove down your throat. It is called MyAsus. It is repetitive in features/ Tools, plus additional features, i.g. Communications. Being able to use your Desktop/ Laptop as a telephone through your iPHone/ Andriod via Bluetooth.

Fan Xpert is bugged as hell. Auto detecting fan speed is not working properly: you run it, fans will start making so much noise even at lowest temperature. Sometimes it doesn't find fans at ALL!

Until now Fanxpert still buggy... It once stop giving power to my aio pump and causing my rig to overheat. Also temp sensor sometime disappear if i use fan expert . I have to use bios qfan for everything to work

Asus AI suite 3 work great for updating bios and change rpm speed on cpu and regular fans

Armory crate already update bios, so you dont need Ai suite 3 for that, and the same about fans.

I installed armoury crate to change RGB colors on my fans and after 1 hour I randomly got a blue screen of death for some reason when I never encountered it before in a whole year of using the PC

Good video, but a question: Installed Windows 11 "the modern OS" fresh. AI Suite 3 wont install. Too many errors. This is for a 2015 motherboard ASUS ROG Black Edition . Any tips?

i use asus armoury crate on PC in that program there's a section called fan expert but some odd reason it does not see my Aio PUMP and my other 3 connected fans it only detects exhaust fan and some other fan my question is should i install Ai Suite 3 than try to control it from there or should i try to control them from Bios

@TheGrayingTech if I have AC do I need to manually download all the bios software? It seems like asus website has updated version of almost everything but my AC shows an older version of everything. Can you make a more detailed video of all of this? Or reply back first so I can get started fixing my pc. Please!!!!

This software conflicted with Huion drawing tablet. My tablet responded again after unistalling Armoury Crate. Not sure what happened, but armoury was definitely the culprit.

My copy of this recently started crashing with the latest windows update. I'm not able to uninstall it. I tried to uninstall it through windows control panel. I got an error, and for a brief instance I got an icon on the taskbar that showed a trojan head with a key going through it. I tried using 3rd party un-installers with no luck. I even tried the ai suite 3 un install program from Asus. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of this......and what the heck was that trojan icon. It only does that when I try to get rid of the AI suite.

Those ads weren't even bad. Same UI setup look as when your in NVidia GeForce updating drivers. What's wrong with ram hungry chrome or WinRAR?

Honestly armory crate doesn’t seem horrible but ive had issues with it causing audio to just refuse to work not sure why its only done it twice and never did it again

I used AI suite just for fan control (luckily managed to find a replacement), and I only use AC for RGB control (to set everything to static blue, or off) ... I hit the bug with AI suite which caused lowering of GPU utilization which was weird and only workaround for that was windows in place upgrade (however after AI suite upgrade it manifested again, so had to perform windows upgrade again) ... I like Asus hardware and using it for years but I try to avoid their software if possible

I use Asus ROG since 10+ years and overclocking **never** worked to get a stable computer. it's even worse: usually, the "easy optimization" process itself does not work at all. in fact, it's a shame.

Is there a proper procedure to completely uninstall AI Suite? I tried and it still leaves some programs that I can’t seem to uninstall/delete. It leaves behind a couple Asus folders and when I try to delete them it says I can’t because they are being used in a program such as fan expert I believe. It’s irritating as all heck. Can you help a brother out lol?

Not Worth to install the software if you don't have Graphic Card and only have 1 CPU fan that can be controls. And the worst part was every time you Shut down your PC the setting get rested

Asus Armory Crate will also stop your Ryzen CPU from letting the cores sleep. It's consistently putting just enough load on your system to stop cores from sleeping and letting the voltages go down to .8v like they should when you're doing nothing. Annoying. Like it's really THAT intensive to tell some frickin' lights to change colors or something. I don't even run it, anymore. The rainbow effects, along with others, are cool and all but not worth it to me.

mind if I ask if you've found any other software that works well? I've tried aura sync (last stand alone version) and openrgb but the former keeps resetting itself, the latter i'm running into all sorts of issues...

@@Anreii I haven't. I ended up installing the latest version to try it out again and it's just enough to irk me about how it's putting 1-2% load on the CPU and not letting the cores sleep. I know it's not a huge deal, probably doesn't effect the lifespan of it (within reason), etc. etc. My whole CPU pulls around 20 watts when I'm doing nothing or 30 watts with the lights doing anything that requires changing while I'm doing nothing. And it just irks me just enough that I set them to one single color in static mode lol. But I still have the whole Armory Crate installed with the aura sync or whatever for when I get bored and want to play with the lights.

OK hear me here. I totally love my Asus motherboard ,,but AI Suite 3 is just a nononononono!!! You are better of setting fans RPM inside of BIOS. Overclocking aswell.

@@ShadoWesker but he said they r displaying older drivers. if thats the case whats the point of it. You can always just pop down to the motherboard download page from time to time to check, or install DUMO that can track if your driver changes and alerts you if there is an update.

Late reply, but AC seems to update to old drivers... Like how hard would it be for ASUS to make sure AC is in line with their driver webpage and only update the latest drivers? ... I mean they go to all the trouble of developing AC software but completely drop the ball on updates... The BIOS update section is reporting versions from a year ago! - (ROG Strix X570-E) There's like 3 or 4 newer updates since then!... Also where's the RAM reposting in AI Suite? It used to be there in the past versions. - I'm so sick of ASUS' lack of attention to detail... Sorry, but it's typical Asian company not 'understanding\caring' about standard North American business practices. Attention to detail, customer perception and service. Totally lacking.

maybe they improved there software since then but when i used it on my rampage iv extreme the bios update never found any updates to download even when there were updates available. not really a problem because the rog forums always had links to latest

armory crete is garbage using to much ram idont recomended this programe if u preinstaled in notebook uninstal this only what u need is your gpu driver and procesor driver
