Really liked the Vega 64 liquid edition. So i was looking around for one and got one for 230 euro. For its age it really performance well. My 5700xt scores 29400 in firestrike graphic and the vega 64 LC 27450. Temps are 51c on load and got it abit undervolted aswell.

That's a really good deal for a liquid cooled one. I agree, there is still a lot of performance in the Vega 64 and they are starting to go really cheap. It really is just about as powerful as the RTX 2070 or 5700. Undervolting really does help the performance and sound level for the air blower cards. Thanks for watching!

been looking for simplest method to watercool my Vega 56 by XFX, still a more than competent card to game 1440p, suggestions?

It is still a very competent card for 1440p gaming. As far as water cooling goes, are you just looking for more performance or are you looking to silence it or both? Do you already have a water cooling setup (rad, pump, etc.)? Also, is your XFX card a standard reference model? If you already have a custom cooling loop and you just need a block, I would check out eBay. Unfortunately, the blocks are still fairly expensive for the Vega reference cards and they can be difficult to find new other than on eBay. If you are just looking for extra performance, you are only going to gain about 10% by water cooling. If you are looking to silence your system, then the water block will help a lot. When it comes to cost, unfortunately, water cooling a Vega in 2020 probably won't be the best way to spend your money. If you want to do it just because you want a water cooled Vega, then by all means it is one of the most fun cards to overclock on water. If you just want to boost performance, then you would probably be better off selling the Vega and putting that water block money towards a more powerful card with a better stock cooler. Water cooling is always expensive and you rarely get the performance return for the money, but if it's your hobby and you have some extra money to spare, it can be a lot of fun. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

@@tech_progress I have an XFX dual fan , non reference card which may pose a challenge and if so will just undervolt it Thanks for your reply. Cost is not really issue I would water cool it for the noise and I have XFX vega 56 RX-VEGALDFF6. If I can sell it for the right price I would look at another card. All about reducing noice and currently in a H200 NZXT case

Hey, water-cooling wise for the Vega 64. Would a 360mm 40mm thick rad be enough to cool the GPU and CPU (Ryzen 2700x) not sure if it will be enough considering how hot they are. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
@tech_progress
@tech_progress 3 года назад
Yeah, I think a 360mm rad would probably work just fine to keep them both cool enough. I ran my Vega 64 and 2700x off of a 420mm / 45mm rad and it was overkill. I overclocked the Vega to the max too. The 2700x will only overclock so far and short of LN2 cooling you won't get a ton more performance out of it. The Vega has a lot of headroom for overclocking, especially on water. Good luck with the project. The Vega cards are a lot of fun to tinker with.

I’ve got a 120 and 240 water cooler for my Vega cause the 5600xt isn’t as good and my laptop 1080 has the same problem lol. What size .. hope u say

Well they aren't cheap right now. They are selling for $1000 on Ebay.

What are your settings on the Vega 64 air cooled model?

Hey, thanks for watching my video. Check back tomorrow afternoon and I'll post the exact settings I used when making the video. I just don't have access to them at the moment.

Thank you for your patience. I pulled up the Wattman config file that I used during the testing and it reads: Core: Power State 1 = 992MHz @ 1025mV Power State 2 = 1082MHz @ 1050mV Power State 3 = 1137MHz @ 1060mV Power State 4 = 1202MHz @ 1075mV Power State 5 = 1402MHz @ 1100mV Power State 6 = 1577MHz @ 1140mV Power State 7 = 1652MHz @ 1150mV Fan: 20% @ 20C-60C 100% @ 60C and up (If you are trying to maintain 1600MHz it will eventually max out the fan anyway.) Memory: State 3 Max = 1060MHz @ 1050mV Power Limit: +50% These settings were very stable with my silicon and never really dropped below 1600MHz during any of my testing. Your silicon may be different, but these settings should be a good starting point. You may be able to undervolt further to keep the fan speed lower, but in my testing this caused me more instability and that's not something you want when gaming. You want to ensure that your settings are as stable as possible to ensure you are getting maximum performance from you silicon without crashing during game play. I hope this helps you out. Thanks again for watching. If you liked this video and want to see more, please consider liking the video and subscribing to my channel. I will have more videos up shortly.

Tech Progress Thank you. I just got my Gigabyte Vega 64 OC for $300 and I am looking to put an EK water block on it.
@tech_progress
@tech_progress 5 лет назад
@@brandonphilander661 that's an awesome price for that card. The Vega 64 is still a beast, especially for that price. It doesn't fall far behind my 1080ti, in fact I miss having my Vega in my main PC. Unfortunately, I don't think that EK makes a water block for that card. It's the windforce fans, not the blower, correct? EK only seems to make a block for the reference (blower) type cards. However, the good news is that it looks like Alphacool makes one for that card in their NexXxos GPX series. Their site is down right now, so I can't confirm, but other sites that sell it are showing compatibility for your card. I'm sure even on air, your card must be much quieter than the reference blower.

@@brandonphilander661 do an aio mod like i did, very easy.

i put an aio on the vega and it would not boot, so i had to out the stock cooler back on, i mixed all the screws lol it took me like an hour to figure it all out. i got a copper shim so now i can keep the stock cooler on. Long story short msi board failed me and i wasted a week trouble shooting. lol
@tech_progress
@tech_progress 5 лет назад
That's too bad, sometimes the really innovative ideas are the most troublesome, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun or worth attempting as long as you are ok with risking your hardware. Good for you for attempting it. What did you use to cool the vrm? At one point I was going to put a Morpheus air cooler on it, but found it was more trouble and cost than it was worth buying heat sinks and glue for the vrm, that's when I decided to water cool it. Plus, I already wanted to build a full custom loop anyway. Haha.

Tech Progress I bought a 20 pack off amazon. They were actually the perfect size. And yeah this is the second msi component that failed me this year. They made me waste time rma ing and then denied it even though I had emails. Last msi anything I’ll touch. Board test on three boards and it boots. Tested on egpu setup for 5 hours and a half running unigen heaven bemchmark and didn’t crash or artifact. So I believe that to be sable. Clocks are now in the 1500mhz open air setup.

Yeah, I was looking at one of those multi-packs on Amazon as well. They are a good thing to have around if your tinkering with hardware mods. It seems that the entire industry is starting to lag in the customer service department if you read reviews. Personally, I haven't had a lot of issues with hardware in recent history, but I have heard very disappointing stories about big manufacturers, which is disheartening.
