Rooftop terrace has been there for many years. We have stayed there several times. Unfortunately unlikely to go again as due to a change of location for smokers they now inhabit the Royal Elite Terrace to have their fix. Makes it very unpleasant for non smokers. Also found on numerous occasions that emergency exit doors from the Royal Elite Lounge had been slightly wedged open to allow those who had not paid for the upgrade, access to the upgraded drinks and snacks. Yes I did remove the wedges when I saw them! Others wait outside the Lounge entrance doors and try to push past you as you exit pretending they have every right. Embarrassing for them when they were challenged to show the correct wristbands!
Love this hotel-just about to book for our 3rd year. We do not pay for the Royal Elite! Our room has always been the same as theirs, drinks on all inclusive the same, sea view the same. Would highly recommend Sandos Papagayo, not Royal Elite though!
Drinks aren't the same. Branded drinks are included in RE. It's horses for courses and depends on what you're looking for. Some are happy with AI, others like having the quieter RE restaurant and enjoy the RE lounges/terrace. It's whatever suits the individual and neither are a bad choice. It's personal preference.
Just came back from here last week,Block H. Sea view room overlooking pool was fab,Room same as elite but we had massive walk in shower / no bath which suits us anyway. I would like the better drinks, Especially the mixers for my Gin and tonics as the fizzy stuff from the gun is truly yukky.!! The sea view shown was lovely but no better than ours imo. The food looks the same as main buffet, which was great anyway. So. would we upgrade next time? Probably not as we were more than happy with standard, However i realise we hit lucky getting a fab SV room and i do love that view, So i would consider it.!! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to video it all for us.!!😁
Been to Sandos Papagayo multiple times now, can i just say, if you're into Diving, Demian at Papagayo watersports on the ground floor is Absolutely the BEST on the Island.
Stayed many times in a junior suite the mini bar doesn’t replenished!! Also the rooftop royal elite bar has been there for years!! Junior suites are amazing!!
Hi dav we were there in late January . Many people who had paid for the royal elite told us it wasnt worth the money . But i think its up to people if they want to pay that extra money
I pay extra for a bath on holiday, nothing better than a hour long soak after a hard day drinking champagne and beer , And I normally have a cold can and play the hits of OMD .
Unfortunately our experience wasn’t like this when we stayed Royal Elite this October. The fridge was only full on first arrival, anything after that had to be paid for. Not once did we get the turn down service, the floors were dirty. You couldn’t walk round the room without shoes on or the bottom of our feet were filthy, long black hairs on the floor all week, neither of us have black hair. Old bumpy pillows in pillow cases that weren’t big enough. Not once did we manage to get hot food, it was always tepid or cold. We were very friendly and respectful to all staff but there were some very unfriendly restaurant and bar staff there and also at reception. We didn’t complain about anything as we know the staff are rushed off their feet but we certainly didn’t feel it was worth upgrading to Royal Elite.
It was Royal Elite, we had decided to treat ourselves as it was both mine and my husbands birthdays whilst we were there. Also he had been seriously poorly since February and was only cleared to go on holiday a couple of months before we booked our holiday. We had originally booked The Rubicon Palace before he took poorly but we had to cancel it due to him being so ill and not fit to fly, so we were really excited to be able to get away. We are waiting for a response as our travel agent is looking into it for us. This was just our experience though and wouldn’t want to ever put anyone off trying it there as many many people have positive experiences.
Junior suites in block D are all royal elite and you have a separate lounge and bedroom. I actually prefer the main restaurants to the royal elite!! But the elite bars are great!!! Sandos are great and we’ve always requested the same room and they have fulfilled it.
Thats a beautiful hotel Dave and the fair play to our fellow mug club couple for spoiling us ,i would be up the that rooftop bar trying the posh water of course, fantastic video😂
@MrTravelONWorld not even him ,your the messiah Dave ,we will follow you from the ends of lanzarote to the brummie lands 🤣🤣 so please say 5 hail Diversions 🤣🤣
We stopped there 18 months ago ,thought it was a3* HOTEL so you pay an extra £😢600 to make it to a 4*.without the smells of poo Smell coming up through the shower plug 😮.disgusting.
No jack Daniels in the entire hotel. Just got back from there and did nicely complain about the lack of it. The fridge is only stocked a little on arrival day but you get a bottle of water every evening and a milka chocolate each. If you aren’t in they fold the corner of the sheet down and leave the little chocolate next to pillow. Several times we complained about the sandwiches in the elite bars as they were either very stale or quite wet underneath. Not good canapies to be honest but there were salted nuts which we made a hole in. The hotel has locked off the entrance door off the canary bar terrace to stop non elite so bar staff monitor the other door but quite a few times in the terraced one there were non elite in groups with elite. We did see a few ejected or turned away at door when they tried coming in behind someone. Bit pointless really as the same more or less was in bar for all inclusive. Huge plus was comfortable chairs in the elite bars - maybe that’s what they wanted 🤣 The view from a block is beautiful but the rooms could do with a top up decor and I wish they had showers and no baths - the water goes everywhere despite the screen. The toiletries were poor - just a double up style shampoo and shower gel. No flannels just 2 small face/hand towel and 2 bath sheets. The promised cava on arrival wasn’t there but was delivered after we saw reception the day after. The gift basket was 3 little jams - nice but not thrilling. The cleaners do work hard and it’s done daily but the floors are in need of a thorough machine scrub and not mop as those spa slippers get filthy. Cocktails are rubbish. Food is good. Staff were very good and hard workers. Same food in elite breakfast and evening meal as served in non elite, which is nice and drinks are served to you but rest is buffet lunch is in the main buffet room. One heated pool which was lovely and the snack and 24hour bar was very good for the food Though we didn’t visit there at night. We enjoyed our stay and would go again but I do think royal elite is over priced unless you like all branded drinks and drink heavily. We got a good price when we booked it with the upgrade from last year but it’s gone up horrendously for next year for same package.
Hmm Dave, Facilities 9/10 balcony 9/10 room 4/10 wow that tv is from the 90’s where’s the 42” flatscreen room/bathroom way too small I know you don’t spend any time in the room unless you’ve got the squits but yeah Drinks package with top brands nice! Overall not for me 😞
