A commenter on your last video raised perennialism which appears to be at odds with Christianity's view of Jesus Christ as the only conduit to salvation whereas the perennialist will say that other true religions will also lead to the one, universal truth. A James S Cutsinger ("Perennial Philosophy and Christianity", 2007), however, offers an interesting interpretation of the nature of Christ which enables the perennialist to also consider himself to be a Christian (or of whichever religion he is culturally attuned to): "[Christian perennialists] contend that there are no Biblical or dogmatic grounds for supposing that this one Son has limited his saving work to his incarnate presence as Jesus" With this definition of Christ, Christians don't have the monopoly, Christ is capable of saving all souls who approach their own religious tradition in good faith. A video full of misleading information. Orion might well be portrayed in art holding a club (he was a huntsman) but he is not shown wearing any form of greenery. He is often seen wearing clothing in the Greek style and holding a shield or lion's skin. He is wearing a sword at his side. The 'Wild Man' is found in medieval mythology - just one of many 'grotesques' - supposedly a race of immensely strong primitive sub-humans living in the forests. They are usually shown holding a branch or whole tree as a club and belted and crowned with leaves. They could symbolise unbridled savagery or alternatively a natural innocence. They also can appear as loyal protectors - perhaps why they appear as supporters on the Danish Royal arms. Actors portrayed them in Elizabethan and Jacobean masques ('cladde in ivy') and in civic pageants where they were sometimes reffered to as 'Savages' or 'Green Men'. The 'Green Man' found in 12th to 16th century churches is purely a decorative carved feature and was clearly not seen as 'pagan' by the Church authorities. The Green Man does not appear in any folklore and the name was only coined in 1939. The large green leafed structure known as 'The Jack-in-the-Green' in which a man cavorts a about the streets dates from the late 18th century and is associated with the London chimney sweeps May Day customs and as such it is patently not pagan. As none of the above are linked in any way trying to create such a link between Orion and King Charles lll is either wishful thinking or being deliberately disingenuous. And, judging by some of the comments that have been posted, the video would appear to pander to the more unhinged wing of Christianity.
