Traditionally, there were concerns about keeping your knees above your toes in yoga poses to avoid potential strain on the knee joint. However, with better understanding of biomechanics, yoga alignment has evolved. Now, in many cases, allowing your knees to move forward over your toes is acceptable and even beneficial to your basic range of motion.
Of course, this only applies if you don’t currently have a knee injury.
