Hi Julie and Warren, I am inspired by your travel adventures. Your videos are very useful and informative. I hope to visit or even live in Montenegro in the future. Greetings to you from Southern California. Cheers and thank you both. 👏🙏❤️
It is easily double in the US now and the service and the food quality is crap ever since COVID. Restaurants are literary hiring anyone off the street with a pulse just to fill in the spot. No one knows how to make decent coffee, let alone a meal. Staff looks unorganized and lost. Prices are through the roof. An average quality meal in a bar with two drinks for 2 will be $80-$100 after taxes and tips. To get decent quality meal you have to go to upper-end restaurants that were able to retain the staff.
I’m also curious about the rental rates for apartments in Kotor. One thing I love about Europe are the fresh local produce you get for such an amazing deal compare to organic food we pay in the US. Btw, great haircut! My partner is very picky with his hairstyle. I think €9 is decent although we found a good barber in Tirana, Albania for €5 including a facial massage. As always, great content!
We did a video last year showing real estate and we also asked Peter at that time to tell us what it would rent for. I would suggest checking out that video for an idea of rental rates. Long-term rental rates are quite reasonable.
You did mention vet care. Also I realize you have your own home but what are housing costs to either rent or buy? It is a huge portion of one’s budget.
We’ve done a couple real estate videos and expat interviews in Montenegro, the cost can vary. Renting from $300 to 800 for a couple is realistic for a long term rental, Airbnb expect $700 to $2000 a month depending on the season and size of the apartment. Our home we’ve shown several times but we rent it out on Airbnb for €1100 in the Summer €750 off season or €50 to €75 a night. Long term in our location for something similar will be €400+ not including utilities.
Hi.Bulgaria is so much like Montenegro and I see how much you spend per month,I live in Bulgaria 6mths a year, with that you can live a fantastic life very very cheap, out goings per mth is around €300 and that is everything you would need including bills fuel etc.my last electricity bill for September 23 was £22 for the month.council tax on a 2 bedroom bungalow is around £35 per year.with a large plot of land, most Bulgarian houses have many fruit trees already planted,ie I have apple/cherry/walnut/pear/and apricot.you will make a huge saving per year by living in Bulgaria, i love the weather beaches and most of all the people cannot do enough for you, have a trip over and see the difference in house prices and cost of living, its a wonderful place to live, easy to get residency for 5 years at a time so you can come and go as you please.
I'm just curious, have you guys heard anything about lots of people buying real estate there? Does it seem/feel like a lot of people are moving there? What are your thoughts?
Yes, and yes. There are a lot of reasons, from the climate, cost of living, beaches, easy residency, Ukrainians, people looking for investment and holiday homes and people wanting a plan B to escape the strict countries during Covid fearing a repeat.
I only have a passive income of $1,500. Probably couldn't afford live there, since this didn't include rent. What country would you suggest if I only have $1,500 a month to live with?. I keep mostly to myself, and hobbies.
@@WarrenJulieTravel Do you use a virtual mailing service or do you use a friend/family member's address? I ask because we are trying to figure out the logistics for doing something similar.
So really $2200 a month all-in. And of course you don't have rent. So with rent of a nice place, in the mid-3000s for a couple. Still not bad. Just not $1504.
