I got a temp 2 month membership in the winter at an LA Fitness in New Jersey near the Lincoln Tunnel to Manhattan. Like you said it was good enough for a weight training session and I could run around the basketball court if a game wasn't in session. I could also jump rope and punch the 70 bags when a Zumba class wasn't in session. Their step stepping machines had good depth to the step. Not a shitty shallow stepper like at my current gym. Overall, it can fit many peoples needs but the equipment is basic as you stated. The downsides: 1) And this was huge. So many guys in the locker room were dicking around with their high quality camera IPhones that I had to always be on the lookout for someone who might be a cock photographer. They had absolutely no clue that this might be improper and there were no signs forbidding that. 2) People moving dumbbells or plates from their proper spot on the rack to 70 feet away, doing their thing and then just leaving the dumbbells. I spent 1/8th each workout locating misplaced weights. 3) Zumba and Spinning classes where the music was so loud it was pounding in my chest and I wasn't even in the class. They just leave the doors open so that we can all share their pain. With that experience, I steer clear of LA Fitness.
I agree 100%. There is very little (if any) staff to monitor things. At my LA fitness there is 1 front desk girl that doesn't speak, and 1 personal trainer that I don't think has ever left his desk lol.
I stopped with gym memberships where tons of young people attend. They tend to be the camera hogs in the gym. Give me an old mans gyms or a gym with an older crowd. it is a world of difference.
Congratulations 🎉🎉 I'm very happy for you. I think it doesn't matter what age we have it's about maintaining a good quality of healthy lifestyle. No diabetes no high blood pressure great stamina or performance to work through out the day..the gym it's the best therapy as well steeping out of comfort zone..an doing something that would give better version of us. My blessings to you please keep going..as well your family. When maybe you feel your self down please always rise up. Because there is always a tomorrow an for u. Thanks so much for reading anything that I put. Don't let your health go down. Take it from me. God bless you
In what world is an Accord more luxurious? I agree the Honda will out last the Mercedes but let’s not kid ourselves. The Benz will have tons of bells and whistles that the accord won’t.
I've never had anyone singing in the gym. The best gym I've ever been to has been Bailey's gym all their equipment there is new high-quality and their fitness trainers are always walking around. only thing I notice about LA Fitness is some of the locations have really old equipment at least here in Florida a lot of the LA Fitness Equipment is severely rusted so you could tell the equipment's been used for years but it is good to have a gym anywhere you go. The latter 24 hours is it Big Thing 2
L.A. fitness is the best, lots of machines, lots of free weights and presses. Sauna, cool pool, jacuzzi and large swimming pool. Basketball court, punching bags, volley ball court. Plus you can go to any club in the States... Plus Yoga classes, Zumba, cycling classes... so much.
Wow! I thought it was just me! I went from working out for 1 yr at New York Sports Club to La Fitness! The quality of the machines is definitely a downgrade! The glutekick machine is truly not a glute machine! There is no actual incline on a standard elliptical machine! The ab machine almost sent us to the ER because we were in pain for 3 days! I just joined 2 weeks ago because i moved and am certainly not happy with the whole setup! Actually if im being completely honest the Machines are Trash 🥴
The good thing is most LA Fitnesses have different equipment. Try another location, they may have better machines. I agree with you about the kick back machine, I feel it a little in my hamstring, and not at all in my glutes.
I don't understand the glute kickback machine. Its useless if you know anything about resistance training as its going to work mostly the hamstrings and probably adductors. They need to a glute machine that helps with hip thrusts instead.
Simple answer is no. Do not join the personal trainer if you think you will need to cancel. The trainer are great and very helpful tho. It took me three month to finally reach someone that was able to cancel my memberships. Not to mention all the hidden fee they do not tell you about. The first month I was charges just the monthly fee but on the second month I was charged an additional $200. Apparently this is a yearly membership charge, that no one mentioned when I signed up. Like I am not already paying a monthly charge. Ok fine. When I dumbly signed up for a personal trainer. Before signing I ask the rep multiple time if this was going to to be a one time charge and they reassure me that yes it was. And like the saying goes if it is to good to be true then it probably is. I was misleading, at this point I should have been wary and should have cancel right then. But I was motivated and working out with my mom so I kept going. And due to personal reasons I needed to cancel my memberships. This is a hassle. I first went to gym and the reps there seem clueless and reluctant to give me any real answer. I asked if there was a number I could call and they had no clue. I was done at this point and looked online. I file a cancelation online and found customer service email which I had to contact several times. When I finally made a report with the better business bureau. That's when I finally received a call from a Manger and a response from customer service. I missed the Manger's call and I called back several time. But at this point the busuness bureau closed the case beacuse a manger tried to contact me. That manager never reached out to me again. I somehow found a call center and they told me that a Manger would reach out. That when my location manager call and they were finally able to help me. This was my worst experience and just a hassle that was never ending.
I joined LA fitness 2 months ago and every time I’m there the gym is so full that I can’t even get a workout using the weights. Most of the time I just use the thread mill and leave. It sucks because I’m trying to get in shape and it’s so hard with that set up. They are opening a life time fitness literally 2 blocks away from where I live and I am considering switching to that, but I also don’t want to be around old people as I’m assuming it’s mainly older people that spend that type of money to go there. What do you think I should do? I’m getting married next year and I need to get in shape!!
Idk if the edge fitness is nationwide but here in CT they charge similar to planet fitness. 20 a month for any gym with tanning etc. They have a shake bar, great machines, classes, and a cardio movie theater that plays recent movies everyday. The edge is not expensive but is a great gym. I've been to LA in the past as a guest and it wasn't too bad I guess. Idk 🤷🏻♂️
ball court and sauna is the only thing keeps me paying 40 a month in NY lifetime and equinox cost over double that price. but the gym equipment is definitely better at equinox
Good question. Honestly it depends club to club. The older LA fitness clubs I find have higher quality free weights and better squat racks (ex in front of a mirror). The newer LA fitness clubs I find their equipment cheaper.
So, my LA Fitness in Florida rebranded to Esporta. I was paying $30 a month and new Esporta members can sign up for $9.99 a month. Employees told me this was done because they can't compete with the Planet Fitness model which offers more amenities for less monthly membership cost. So this is what this tells me, this club is going to have to pack in 3 times the number of members to make the same money, leading to overcrowding. Something is going to suffer, whether it be equipment maintenance or housekeeping to keep costs down. There are already machines that have been out of order for over a month, so I imagine it will get worse. I was told I could go down to the $9.99 a month plan, but have to pay a $200 fee to do it. Goodbye LA Fitness, I'm out, was nice while it lasted.
That’s very interesting, and I see your point. But don’t you think there’s a difference between planet fitness and LA fitness. I feel like LA fitness is on another level at least in my area in Chicago. Planet fitness seems very entry-level and basic. At LA fitness the workout area is pretty similar to that of a lifetime fitness although the machines are not as high-quality. And Lifetime Fitness obviously has way more amenities offered.
@@cjbaker9703 Yes, PF is very entry level and basic, but the equipment is similar to my LA Fitness. True, there are no barbells and benches, but to reduce injury, I been benching on a Smith Machine anyway, even when I was at LA. The whole reason I joined LA originally was because it was a bit more exclusive (so I thought), and was another level. Every machine at PF is Hammer Strength and Life Fitness, so someone who is not a novice can make that work. So to replace my membership $, LA will have to sign 3 new members to make the same money, 4 or 5 to turn a small profit. Imagine if 25 LA members does what I do, now they have to bring in 75 members to break even. That's the way my mind thinks unfortunately, and I see more negatives than positives by this converting to a $9.99 club. And don't even get me started on the basketball courts at LA, they are already out of hand, imagine what will be coming in now for a third the cost. I swore I would NEVER join a PF, but good gyms around me are scarce. But, I have to admit, PF has genius marketing, for $22 a month, I can bring a guest every day unlimited times, get access to hydro massage beds and tanning beds and there is 24 hour access just in case. Just my $0.02
@@TJD-69 I forgot about the massage chairs, that’s a nice perk! And free pizza on Thursday right lol? I agree LA needs to step it up. And the new premium LA’s equipment suck. The old outdated machines I find better. They need better design team.
@@cjbaker9703 what monthly plan did you get? And when? Cause as a salesman there if you’re paying that high in month and you don’t even have signature they must’ve had a cheappp initiation fee for you
Usually the ones that sing are the usually the smaller guys or hell he might be a fun guy never know. That's why you bring your own earpods cuz then you won't listen to what he's saying or signing. Start singing what he's singing exactly and they him here you never know . LA fitness you never know there's some might be some good looking people there.
You should ask your club manager. Usually there are two different memberships offered, a single club membership for a reduced rate or a multiple location rate that’s a little bit higher per month.
Value for the money I agree Honda is a better purchase. Same can be said for comparing gyms. It all depends what you want out of your car it all depends what you want out of your gym.
Every gym will have staff during hours of operation. The point that I was making, is at LA fitness it is basic door staff and that’s it (from my experience), as opposed to some other gyms where you have a team monitoring the gym (personal trainers, manager/asst mngrs, instructors, cleaning crew, locker room attendants, maintenance, customer service, etc...)
I went to LA FITNESS in Matteson Illinois and the kick me out of the gym they said they can’t give me an access for one day to the gym cose my ID WASNT from the city the make feel like crap same time happen in two location
I think they have 2 memberships. The first is like 29/month and u can only use your home gym. The other is 39/month and u can use any gym in the country. Things may have changed since they recently switched to ESporta. They usually wouldn’t care though in your situation, that’s pretty crappy of them to do that.
I haven’t had to cancel yet so I don’t know. But you have the option of paying annually or monthly. If you think you might need to cancel, maybe paying monthly is the better option for you.
@@cjbaker9703 I understand your perspective but I’m saying they could do better if they paid employees more . Actually have employees that care not focus on turn overs
If they paid there employees reasonably and actually put them on full-time. The gym would be much better. I was full time and i felt so bad for everyone else that got treated the way they did that were part time . Their company fat shames their employees . The part timers are the people that keep the gym clean and if they cared about the cleanliness of the gym they would up their janitor hours and up the pay and put them on full-time
@@cjbaker9703 just my opinion… just look back at your video and tell me you wouldn’t assume the same. Not saying I can’t be wrong for assuming but logically if a million dollars was on the line most would make the same assumption.
