My unsponsored, independent review of Lego set 10333 LOTR Barad-dûr and the Fell Beast GWP. I purchased this myself and my thoughts are my own. #lego #legolordoftherings #legoreview
I really want a LotR CMF series. Imagine getting characters like Eowyn, Smeagol, Galadriel, Grima Wormtongue, King Theoden, Faramir, Rosie Cotton, Denethor, Eomer, Wood Elves, Uruk-Hai, and the shadow realm Witch King and/or more Nazgul.
Imagine also getting Isildur (which should have been included in Barad Dur), Elrond (2nd age), Elendil, Gil Galad, arnor Soldier, and High Elven Warrior
To all the people who are hating on this set: 1. It's a Lego set 2. the interior of the real building is UNKNOWN, so lego had to INNOVATE, and because it's lego they can't do blood and gore ( which, it's also a lego set so YOUR THE COOK, MAKE IT WHAT YOU WANT.) 3. It has SO MANY new features that have NEVER been in ANY LEGO SET EVER. 4. The size is a good point, lego does need to do more $20 or $40 sets (PLEASE DO A FELLBEAST SET.) 5. IT HAS FRICKIN *SAURON*
That is exactly the point, well not all of them. The set looks great and I agree with the impressive new features BUT it’s clearly a set for fanboys (and girls). I love the books read them like 30 times, first when I was about 12 yo. For me the book gave much more than the films did and I do really want this set but in a form where I do not have to rearrange my whole living room.
@@JayAlbion not sure how this set would be made in a significantly smaller scale tbh. If were smaller than the old Orthanc set (which I have) it would be a little weird. I suppose they could have made a mini-scale version. Or just the part of the tower with the eye? I do think Lego needs to bring back smaller LOTR sets.
2 biggest issues I have with the set are. 1. The tower is just not tall enough. It's missing a large section above the rock formation. It should be much taller than the Orthac set it isn't. 2. The lack of Orc MiniFigures. If they wouldn't give us more at least make Sam and Frodo Orcs instead. A Ninjago set would have had 20 plus MiniFigures for this price.
I agree with the lack of orcs, it should have come with 2-4 more, but I disagree about the height. While it's not exactly accurate with the height, after having built it I genuinely can't imagine it being any taller because of how massive it is in person.
@CloneCommanderCrater1102 I know the designers purposely made it easy to add height to the set. They knew it should be a much taller build than Orthanc.
It was so worth it. I got it for myself for my birthday and it’s one of my favorite things over ever bought. Currently working on a MOC mech suit for Sauron because why not.
Have you thought about doing a lego ideas video about sets that you like but deserve more support. Mainly ideas that have less than 1000 supporters currently
Thanks nice review. I really wanted the fell beast but not paying stupid money for it. Could have been better than it was. And you’re right Minas Tirith makes sense they should do it 🤞
The fell beast is really nothing to rave about. It’s very flimsy and lacks details. I think it’s just the hype around it. It’s also hard to place on the set. I really loved the tour. It’s so beautiful to look at and it display beautifully
Good review! I lucked out and scored the GWP on day one before they sold out. I am really excited to build this and set it next to my Rivendell set. Sadly, it's gonna be a bit since there are so many other lego sets that I need build before this one. It's been a good year for lego and a bad year for my wallet.
FYI, the two Klatoonians from the At_ST Raiders set from Star Wars make for great stand ins for Orcs. A horded a few because I knew this theme would one day come back!
US here, I just finished this set an hour ago!! It does have that new warning label on the box, and all my bags were the usual plastic. Strangely, they only put bags 1-19 in a separate box, and the rest of the bags were loose in the big box
Hmm good to know, thanks. I know for some it won’t matter but for collectors it’s annoying. Don’t see why it can’t be smaller or a separate piece of card rather than printed on the box
Random question time: Why are there no James Bond Lego sets? I know his car was featured once but I am talking about playsets. Is he too adult? Lack of interest?
If you were able to score the GWP with the Barad-dur, the set gets a good score. So its like 11 figures and a Fell Beast.. The GWP by itself was selling for 175 on Ebay
I think barad dur is a great set. Is it better than Rivendell… no, but this set has a really good interior even tho we don’t know what it looks like in the movie. They definitely could have added a little more height to it but I think it works well as it’s own model.
I was really hoping for Frodo & Sam to have tattered & burnt clothing. Like how Obi-Wan & Anakin had it in two Star Wars sets for their final duel in episode 3.
Is Barad Dur worth it? Yes and No. It looks great, so worth it. What do I do with it once built though. Its too big for the shelf and it does not fit with anything else, not putting it next to Brickcross station or cafe corner are we? So No, its not worth it. Also, why is youtube telling me I spelt "cafe" wrong when I know its correct...very strange.
Dude. 1973 (1+9+7+3) is for the amount of rings given to the races. 1 ring for sauron to rule them all, 9 rings for men, 7 rings for the dwarves, 3 rings for the elves. So I think Is it amazing Tolkien passed away in 1973 cause that is the same number. What a crazy coincidence
Both the tower and Rivendell are made for the extreme fans. It’s a nice build but the inside is just meh. I’d appreciate rather smaller sets but we all know Lego.
I don’t agree Jay at all .in movie we. Don’t get anything inside tower so Lego can’t create Disney land they did provide a lot inside which also need to be approved from Tolkien family for sure .and I just love this set is amazing
how can you complain about the interior when there is 0 source material. it’s a lego set, not a super serious miniature made for display only. this is a lego set so they will be a little playful with it.
