The Transfer Pak does not work on 3rd party Controllers, you need an official controller for the transfer pak to work. Its one of the only add ons that needs official hardware
wasnt that red controller one of the official controllers? grey was originals, but they released a few colors *officially* a while later. which that one looks like it would be. iirc, without the expansion pack, the transfer pak wouldnt work? its been along time since i played n64 tho.
@@sewdclass10 i see it now, had to go back and look. looked like it did the first time around. since the outline is there. but, im still pretty sure it needed the expansion pack. my cousin had this, and begged for mine back in the day since he wanted to pull certain mon over from his gameboy save file.
@@Kraxt0n no you can use the Jumper Pak and it will work just fine all the Expansion Pak really does is double ram and boost resolution on a couple games. Stadium 2, Rogue Squadron, Pro Skater 2, and Star Wars Ep. 1 Racer were just graphically enhanced due to Expansion Pak while Space Station Silicon Valley would crash at the intro. Only 2 and a half games need to fully use the Expansion Pak in the US: Majora's Mask, DK 64 and the Not So Perfect Edition of Perfect Dark hence why I said 2 and a half games. In Japan however it is required to run the N64 Disk Drive and their games, an Everdrive can bypass the need for the Disk Drive itself to an extent.
@@Silverfox365 DK 64 is indeed why it came into my collection. either way, its been along time since ive messed with an N64. so i was speaking on what i thought.
"we're doing our best not to be found out, like using a credit card with my name on it, using a pseudonym that's extremely identifiable, and also having half the order shipped to our other employee whose name is also known" i'm starting to think y'all need to rethink your anonymity strategies here
Unless they go through some service to make a temp card number there is only so much they can do to hide their identity with the credit card. As for Ken maybe he also has a different pseudonym he uses ( they didn't zoom in enough to see if it was actually under Ken's name or not lol).
@@TheCommanderTaco I mean, they could load up one of those generic Visa cards. I imagine gift cards and/or PayPal are also options. I dunno, I just feel like they could have done like, anything else. With their current standard, they might as well just wear a balaclava while ordering, it's just as effective.
Meanwhile lukie games: who is this order for oh just a regular customer cool. I highly doubt they are gonna look at your name and be like oh noooooo it’s that one RU-vidr
at least from ebay you can see the condition of the consoles you buy yourself, as opposed to trusting these companies showing you a random image. Granted, I've had 2 occurrences on ebay where the sellers switched game discs on me (the disc I received differed from their product listing) so.. buying used products online in general is a risky venture 💀
Calling them worse than dkoldies is going too far imo. Pricing aside, At least everything you purchased worked. Half the stuff from dkoldies doesn’t even function properly
they didnt even crack them open and seems like they might have used accounts that marked them as a youtube channel. when checking to see what companies like dkoldies or this lukie do, ive seen proper test youtubers will use accounts of friends with no association to them to get the most authentic experience of what the website is offering. because the minute those companies see they are getting a youtuber order they give the best they possibly can because they know it will be shown on the internet and use the youtuber as an unsuspecting patsy to further their bullshit. and the pricing is the biggest issue. i would only pay 200 for a nintendo ds if i was getting sealed nib, not loose.
@@billmartinez4245 nope but dkoldies prices are a rip off too, and half the time are defective. I wouldn’t buy from either of them obviously, but at least this stuff actually worked
@@wakcedout At this point, I'd just emulate. Old tech is getting beat up day by day. Unless you're a collector or you need an old hackable home console for random family game sessions because Tekken hunger could strike at any time, you don't need to buy old consoles for any reason.
Japan is like the last place they have reasonable prices for retro games, because they know this stuff isn't rare at all. Like Nintendo DS is one of the most popular handheld ever.
Yeah i got a lot of 4 unit of DS for really cheap just cause they were beaters in need of replacement screens and housings. Was able to get 2 of them back into working order just by swaping parts that were in the lot (ribbon cables, screens (since both top and bottoms are the same on that model) and buttons )
It's just the US that has these crazy prices. Here in Europe you can get the first gen DS for 20 to 30 Euros in decent condition and for around 40 Euros complete in box. Most DS games are under 10 Euros complete. The PS3 Superslim is probably worth around 50 to 60 Euros, the Xbox 360 30 to 40 Euros. During the pandemic prices rose extremely, but they've come down a lot since then, atleast for standard stuff.
you know why the price jumped up right? they are probably using a "dynamic system" depending on if one sold recently and current inventory it is set to up the price and "decay" back down to there minimum. (or they are even more specific to users identified profile to make them feel like they got a better deal and/or get more out of future sales)
Over the past couple of months, I've amassed a small collection of 70 or so NES games from various sources: Gamestop, Lukie Games, eStarland and various eBay sellers. 2 of the 4 I got from Lukie Games were the only 2 of the entire 70 that gave me so many problems (on both my top loader NES and front-loader with a brand new 72-pin) that I nearly gave up on them before finally getting them to work after like a dozen re-inserts and multiple cleanings. Gamestop has been surprisingly solid when a game you're looking for is actually in-stock, and eStarland was by far the most reliable. That's my story.
@galadriusthemighty @Luvequalsrage but Lukie do the bay too I've had a Sega Sports Dreamcast and some game from them ages ago, still perfect and I don't unhook nor store any system
I bought a "cosmetically flawed" GBA SP from Lukie games for $60 during their Christmas sale and it was literally perfect lol i don't see why they even have "grades"
Because they can fleece someone who wants one in really good condition. However, they don’t have any quality control to enforce any semblance of standards. It’s like buying a used phone. Personally, I would pay extra for a used phone in mint condition vs one in fair condition, but at least I can see the phone before I buy it. Imagine if they had to show you the actual product you were getting 😂
@@notaspecialuser exactly because the box mine arrived in clearly read on the label “cosmetically flawed no charger” but it came perfect with an OEM charger lol The phone I’m using to type this on was bought used in excellent condition I made sure it wasn’t a listing that just had a grade for the phone with generic photo but instead had actual photos of the phone
Honestly I’ve bought games from them for years. Only bought one console but it was a ds lite that came in good condition and was only like 60 bucks and I’ve never had any issues with them. The console prices are high, but the game prices are good compared to eBay for most games
Same I've bought like 50+ PS2 games from them and they all came in immaculate condition Though I wouldn't expect less considering they have the most expensive disc resurfacer on the market I've also bought a few GBC and DS games from them didn't have any issues with them either, labels and cartridges were in good condition Back to the PS2 games I'd also like to point out every single game came complete with all the original paperwork and or additional disc's including demo disc's and promotional boxes
@@P_D-px6ivthe biggest purchases I made from them is a GBA SP Dreamcast RE 2 and 3 and Mega Man X2 which was going for 250$ at the time and they all showed up in excellent condition
I legitimately ONLY played that game for the longest time. Well after the new Battlefield games. Like, give me a tank and let me destroy buildings! I almost cried when these servers went down....especially since my internet went down the last weeks of the server activity. Surprising how little "tech" people know about games that aren't pokemon related lol
@@StillthatguyJake I originally played it on the 360 when it first came out and then moved to the pc later on. Such a good game and so many fun memories with friends. I remember covering a fourwheeler with c4 and making kamikaze runs into enemy tanks. Not to mention the satisfying long distance shots while leading and compensating for bullet drop . Man, absolute perfection. I hope they make BC3 and don't screw it up.
@@calypsoraz4318 Yup...perfection indeed! It was, aside from playing Halo with a friend, the first FPS I ever played online multiplayer on. Definitely looking forward to something similar in the future.
@@StillthatguyJake Dawg the idea that tech people only know about pokemon games is the weirdest "entirely made up stereotype" I have ever heard. Not knowing about generic army-man-action games might be a bit more accurate.
Interestingly, Lukie Games actually won an ebay auction of mine for a couple of SNES games. I imagine the games are going to show up at their next owner's in the same condition I had them.
that’s what these places do and that’s why the prices are so high. they move too much volume to depend on trade ins, so they just buy them on eBay and mark it up from there. they’re depending on people i guess being scared of ebay. all you need to do is to know how to spot a fake, just by looking at photos i have never gotten a fake. thousands spent on games in the last few months almost exclusively on ebay and not a single fake.
You guys need to be opening these up all the way, checking for dust caked on the heat sinks, seeing if they have fresh thermal paste etc. seeing if they run is only half the story.
To be fair when i started using LG their prices were a lot more reasonable especially for games I couldn’t get here in Canada due to availability. Sad to see them go as downhill as DK Oldies.
having a warranty is meaningless if they dont uphold it and put enough red tape loopholes in it that let them wiggle out of honoring it. i would suggest read their warranty terms first before thinking its good. because just reading "oh they offer X year warranty" will not be enough if you havent read the terms.
They are fine, dont let this fool gaslight this innocent buisness. I bet Lukie is competition for something he has in the works or is against someone hes invested into.
@@squarebodyseth5986 1. That's not what gaslight means. 2. If you're going to sling out an accusation like that, you best do the work and provide some proof, otherwise you have to question the motive for getting this defensive over a pretty even-handed video.
@@squarebodyseth5986 huh? Im unsure what you are talking about... I am a video game collector. I enjoy collecting every single game from sports games to the rare games. If i can get a deal somewhere I will always choose the best deal. This was 10 years ago. I have no clue as to if their practices have gotten better or worse. The last thing i do remeber buying was a bulk lot of 300 Japanese ps3 and psvita games for about $130. so I cant say i have been personally scammed.
@@dennett316 1. 100% does. He uses fake reactions and setups to manipulate and question our perception. "IS LUCKIE GAMES A SCAM? NO...but i dont like them so YES SCAM SCAM BAD BAD. I GOT ALL THE STUFF I PAID FOR BUT ITS A SCAMMM

He did in fact reference and showed the blade interface briefly at 15:24 and said he liked that one a lot better...as did i...although, he basically created a brick for himself since he doesn't want to update it.😄
first of all, it's not called "the blade 💀". technically, it doesn't have a name but people know it as "Blades". and second of all, that's not what is on that 360. that's NXE. so thank god Austin called it "old school interface" instead of misnaming NXE as "the blade 💀".
@@lexlopez15 nah, not really. if a game predates the dashboard on your Xbox, it will play just fine. if that thing (possibly Xenon?) is on 9199, he'll still be able to play any game from between 2005 and 2010. and if it's on 7371... Austin had his lucky day
@@mojave5661 First of all, maybe you can understand how to read sentences. It was not inferred that the NXE interface was called 'the blade 💀' but the Blades are old school, enough that you can use it on your series X as a theme now, Not NXE.
I don't even bother with Nintendo stuff anymore. Not only are they way less interesting to me than the realms less explored or talked about to death on RU-vid like Sega, Sony, SNK, NEC and all the retro computers out there, but they're by far the most overpriced stuff in retro game collecting. A 1-2 punch of "yeah, I don't care anymore".
I buy games from them monthly. Never any consoles. I've probably bought 30-35 games from them, and only 1 time did I not get what I ordered ( I was supposed to get a CIB ps2 game, and it came boxed). If you're looking for games, I can vouch for them. They have tons of good CIB games for under $5.
For context on the pricing, they automatically update them daily based on supply and demand, so it isn’t a stretch to say Austin drove up the Lukie Games console prices because he bought some lol. That being said, wait long enough and some games will eventually be a decent deal. Consoles though? Cheaper, but still marked up.
My PS3 White Super Slim is still new, Got it from a retail store loooong ago, I took extreme care with it, Zero scratches and not a speck of dust on it.
Interesting, those were not the controllers that came with the top load NES. The top load NES came with redesigned controller that were shaped like the SNES controllers, just with NES button layout.
I've generally had good experiences with Lukie Games. As a Canadian gamer, I often get screwed on shipping rates when buying retro games on eBay. Lukie Games is one of the few outlets that still has reasonable shipping rates, which aren't the same or more than the game itself. They're packaged well, they arrive promptly, and while a few of their prices are out to lunch, they're generally good value. Their customer service is also pretty decent. I once ordered Chameleon Twist for N64, and they accidentally sent me Chameleon Twist 2. When I pointed this out, they issued me a refund, and said I didn't need to send back the old game. So I went ahead and bought Chameleon Twist from them again. 🤭 I never buy systems from them, though. That's mostly because I don't trust buying systems online. Get systems locally, get games from Lukie.
Calling them worse then DKOldies is a little too far fetched at least they actually test there consoles unlike DKOldies and have way better prices then DKOldies even though there expensive
I once got a psp from them in acceptable condition and it looked near damn new I was like hmmm ok I guess this is acceptable lol but I’ve never had an issue whatsoever with them. I think we just live in an age of People wanting to complain all the time. It’s your money why would you instantly buy something you want if it’s high priced do some searching and find one at a good price that’s what I do with lukie games if they have a reasonable price on a game then I’ll grab it if not then I won’t I go elsewhere for a better deal. And their customer service is way better than dk oldies. Dk oldies was rude when asking them questions.
I can build a PC in about 45 minutes. That doesn’t matter, though. Because they weren’t talking about me. They weren’t talking about you, either. Be humble.
@@Luke-qs2cg yeah even a newbie. We're talking 3-5 screws max. Some IPA and cotton buds/q-tips. Maybe even some goo gone for stubborn stickers. It really is that simple. Put the game in and get up to the boot screen that's it tested. It's really not that hard.
Top-loader NES consoles weren't less *popular*, they were less *populous*. They came out after the SNES came out and had a much smaller run than the toaster model. Love your channel, just make sure you get the facts straight. Also, I've had to resub at least three times in a year.
It's like they buy a console off of eBay, mark it up to a perceived category of what they want to sell regardless of condition just to make their money back and some. All this without touching the console, especially if they're reusing the eBay pics.
Nintendo DS with charger etc, good condition on ebay £20, £5 if you want one that works but has broken hinges, so you have to hold the top screen in place. No idea who's paying $205 for them.
The toploader NES isn't a terrible deal. The console alone goes for $150 on ebay, and when you throw in a $5-10 game, a zapper hookups and controllers worth about $25-30, that's a $175-190ish value, so that's not bad at all.
I think the funniest part about this video is the end with the price of that ps3 but I remember when I saw the sucker for like $50 before at a gamestop
Worst thing I can say about Lukie is that I've received bootleg versions of both the Genesis and SNES versions of Jurassic Park, this was back in 2011/2012.
I think the best thing to test whether something is a good place to get is getting the fat ps3 at high quality, as it shows you how many scuffs on the top, if there is a lot then it means the lower end oness are bad and therefore not good
The transfer pak for N64 likely works, it's just that it doesn't really work with third party controllers. You need to use an original controller to make sure it works.
I got my top loader NES at a convention 5 years ago for $100. Came with one dog bone controller. I see that they couldn't even give you the correct controller for yours.
Original copies of Pokemon Sapphire are very expensive. There is a company making reproductions for like 20 dollars. Make sure they aren't repos. I thought it was scam price too until I check all the listings and they say "repro" somewhere hidden in the text.
When I moved back to Canada from Europe, I needed a new PS3 because my 80 GB YLOD a week before I moved. I bought a 12 GB super slim PS3 from Target (when we still had them) for $100 CAD. I ended up putting a 1 TB HDD I had into it. It still runs great.
Lukie is entirely responsible for getting me back into gaming. I bought a 2008 fat body 20gb 360 back in 2017 for $70, been using it nearly every day since, and it runs like a watch. I also ordered a bunch of games with it, all of which ran perfectly and had zero scratches whatsoever, not even kidding. On top of all that, one of the games they sent wasn't the one I ordered, it was actually a much more expensive game (2 disc metal case special edition of The Force Unleashed). I told them about it, they sincerely apologized, then immediately shipped out the game I ordered while letting me keep the more expensive game. I have nothing but good things to say about the company. It's too bad that sensationalist videos like this end up harming good companies.
I’ve never had an issue with lukie games at all everything I’ve bought was good pricing and good condition they even told me in a email when asking questions that they do not have a repair team for consoles so my guess is they clean the best they can and if it functions they send it out and you get what you get.
5:34 I might be wrong but they may doing something illegal when it comes to the pricing. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal/a scam to imply that an item is on sale for a discounted price when it was never at that price. They show a 219.99 but as far as we know it hasn’t been that price at all. Might be illegal just saying
Its been years since I bought from them, definitely had good prices then when I got my games, but some those games cost way more now, some are actually cheaper lol. Of the 35 games I got from them one was broken.
I had went through and bought an extra memory card for my PS1 from Lukie Games... plugged it in my console and it didn't work at all. Opened it up to look at it, the chips were all unsoldered from the board
Maybe they changed over the years but I've had nothing but positive experiences with Lukie years ago. I mainly only bought games not consoles though. They were all as described, and once I bought a copy of Ratchet and Clank from them that hanged on a loading screen forever and they sent me a new one for free
I disagree on your assessment of the 360, simply because I did a ton of upgrades to that console, specifically I know that to the that interface you had to download it on a pc, burn it to a dvd, and then boot the xbox from it. Someone who did that, did much more than just play it once or twice.
NES Toploader came with the wrong controllers. Supposed to be the dog bone controller with those but whatever I guess. $200 is okay but I would say that bundle is still probably $50-$75 overpriced nowadays.
Their "complete" Xbox 360 games are always perfect when I order through them. Clean case disc has no scratches and comes with manual. I've order from them multiple times with no problems.
I can’t speak on the systems but the physical games that I’ve bought all have been great some prices are a bit high but I personally wouldn’t want to pay over $50 bucks for something without looking at it idk just me
The lack of a nintendo badge on the "expensive" DS is an automatic misgrading, IMO. You're literally missing a piece of the exterior at that point... Also, I swear it was only like five years ago I bought a *sealed* new DS Lite for less than you paid for this horribly graded phat DS. The value in the used gaming market these days is awful, I can't imagine collecting seriously with the way today's market is. Regarding those transfer paks, they are notoriously difficult to keep clean enough. You basically have two extra connections, the connection to the game controller and the connection to the cart itself. I have one that I've owned from new and barely used, and it was *always* problematic to get and keep working, especially if you were a little too animated with the controller while you played...These days, I have to almost soak the damn thing in contact cleaner and clean it 4-5 times to get it to connect.
I’ve been shopping with them for years and I really haven’t had any issues. I did have a copy of omega ruby that I bought from them that didn’t work but they did a simple exchange for a good copy. I however agree some of their stuff can be overpriced.
Maybe some copyright issues or something, but I wish resellers like these printed off boxes for their games, if they're going to upscale the cost, make it somewhat worth it
Wait a minute, that PS3 can't play PS2 games I thought, without jailbreaking... And even then it's a software emulation, and very few games actually work smoothly
How dare he call the fat DS the worst one, the light is absolute garbage, the light was the only Nintendo Hardware pre Joycon that just fell apart in your hands after a short while... Also those terrible shoulder buttons went out fast and the mushy d pad is barely usable.
I got a DSi xl on ebay with near perfect ips screens, no noticeable screen scuffs and just some light cosmetic damage on the back. In my eyes its basically close to mint 😂. It only cost me $105.....
I buy from Lukie games I just got my package from Them yesterday their orders or games i order always work and come into great condition I never brought a console only buy them from retro gaming spots
I have to say I’ve had pretty good luck with Lukie. I’ve purchased a ps2 slim, game boy advance sp as well as about 50 or so games. I’ve only had one issue out of all that and it was the collectors edition of halo 3, the tin was banged up and the disc didn’t work but if that’s the only issue out of everything I’ve bought I’d say they’re better than most websites to buy used games from. Also just to add I’ve had the ps2 over a year and the gameboy about 10 months and they still work great. It’s all a roll of the dice buying from these places there is no set good or bad, they’re all the same. Good luck to everyone trying to buy their childhood memories back ❤
