to be honest,i think that a tiny bit Mac os is more secure then windows since microsofts antivirus is a bit dissapointing for me and i prefer mac os since its more secure, privacy friendly. and its just my opinion, and anyone elses can be different.
i think the "macos is safer" view also comes from the way apple fights you for trying to do anything, like install an app or something not from an apple sanctioned source. to open some apps you need to turn something on in settings, redownload, right click to open (double clicking won't work for some reason) and then press continue on another alert. windows (imo) feels more relaxed in this regard and only usually requires a couple clicks, however i'm not a windows user so idk how accurate my pov is
modern day MacOS uses Apple's proprietary X is Not UNIX (XNU) kernel, which does have some BSD (which is what is loosely based on UNIX) components, but no pure UNIX code at all. so to say MacOS is built on UNIX is a very very far stretch to say the least.
You can bypass Microsoft requirement for home. If you have a flashdrive you Rufus to burn a image onto it and it will automatically ask you questions like bypass microsoft account disable telemetry, ....
I've made my own custom ISO from a Windows 11 dl'd directly from Microsoft's website, which eliminates all the bloat and telemetry from the get go and installed it on a 16 year old computer 😂
@@An.Individual the fact that Android uses the Linux kernel, that graph has probably taken Android into account to make Linux in general look the worst. but desktop Linux distros have a lot less malware than Windows.
Apparently not even Linux is safe; its widespread use in servers and growing popularity among programmers and even some gamers now have made it a slightly more desirable target for malware producers, there have been reports of Linux home users getting hacked via unsigned repositories after enabling updates from them, Windows-targeting viruses porting themselves to Linux by abusing WINE, and trojans getting installed via .sh scripts and infected DOCX files that get opened in "not-Word" (the MS formats that we're forced to use for anything that others need to see are less secure than the default ones that our open-source productivity suites use)
Marginal? Hahaha!! Any Unix based system is zillions of times more secure than any Windows system based. Show the relation between users of each system and number of exploits, zero days, bugs, etc.
@@deimne970 That's not really true these days. It's all about the user and configured policies. Just don't do general computing as admin just like you wouldn't as root in unix/linux and you'll be fine.
@@sto3359 what about the stat that Linux sees the highest percentage of malware incidents? Maybe that’s a market share thing, too? I don’t know much about Linux, so I’m not familiar with the security features.
