That’s me in the yellow shirt and duck swim shorts at 7.04. I was just saying to my buddy that’s Jordan from Show me Vegas😊 i was thinking of coming up to you to say hi but I didn’t want to interrupt your work. I love MB, I’m actually back there for 4 nights this coming Sunday. Great work!
That’s awesome! Don’t ever hesitate to say hi, we may be “working” but it’s always a welcome break from the job. Thanks so much for watching and for the comment!
Awesome review of MB. It is one of the more underrated resorts on the strip probably just because of the location. That standard room looks to be as good as any in Vegas!
Hey Jordan, we love Mandalay Bay and the Delano. We mostly stay at Delano and never have problems with kids there. If you stay at Mandalay Bay in the suites you won’t have any problems with kids. Love that property, always take the train to New York New York for dinner when tired of Mandalay Bay property. Great video!
I've only hung out at the Mandalay Bay, but never stayed in a room there. I am impressed that the rooms are that nice and the rest of the hotel/casino is still really nice. I first went to the MB in 2005 and it was unbelievably nice and luxurious (we ended up hanging out a bit and going to the Shark Reef, yeah - too expensive for back then too). I went to a concert at the House of Blues last year and had a great time. I'd be open to staying there... taking the tram would save a bit of walking time getting to 'center strip'. Thanks for the review and walkthrough!
I love Mandalay Bay! Stayed there in 2023 and at Delano in April. Such a great property. I really like RiRa in Mandalay Place. The show One is great as well.
We stayed here on our final night back in May and very awesome hotel. Check in was so smooth (way better than the Flamingo! lol), the basic room was incredible and totally worth it. The pools were awesome. My wife said the exact thing you said about the wave! We were just sitting there for it. We eventually just stayed at the lazy river after lifeguards got on us about waiting (standing) for waves in a certain spot in the pool. We went to Hussongs before we headed to the airport. Totally worth it. Even though it's at the end of the strip, I think it still works out, especially if you use the trams. When we stayed at New York New York, we got around so easily; if we needed to go to anywhere on the east side, we walked across the bridge from NYNY to MGM Grand and did monorail/walk. Or across the street to Park MGM and took the tram. I think that's also why Mandalay Bay benefits. You have to have decent stuff in order to offset being a little further and it does a fantastic job.
Great video. Its good to see that Mandalay Bay has kept itself up and refreshed through the years. I last stayed at MB over ten years ago. I attended a couple of tech conferences there. The first time I went, in 2010, was with my family and it was a fantastic experience. The rooms, pool, casino, the buffet and restaurants at that time. The location on the strip didn't bother us. It was part of the adventure. We took the tram to Excalibur and then walked from there to other resorts. It was great coming back from mid-strip to a more relaxed, less-hectic tropical resort with the smell of coconuts in the air. If I ever stay on the strip again it will be at MB. Its sad how out of control the costs have become. The Las Vegas resorts seem to be out of reach for middle-class people, and serve more as a super playground for the affluent. The kind of travel experience in Las Vegas I had years ago would be hard to get a good value today.
Hey Jordan ! I really like Mandalay Bay. I’ve stayed there twice in a one bedroom penthouse suite and loved it . Pool is awesome and they have a lot of great dining options. I’ve been to Lupo so will have to try Carama . I do prefer center strip which is why I normally stay at Bellagio or Aria. I just booked a free sea aquarium ticket with the my Vegas app (it’s usually sold out ) so will be making a trip over to Mandalay Bay on my trip in 2 weeks . Excellent review sir 😎😎😎
Just wanted to say my wife and I love your content we are planning a Vegas trip for my 60th in November and watching your honest straight forward reviews are a breath of fresh air
Love the video you did an amazing job covering the whole property, always wanted to stay there but yeah, it’s waaaaay down away from everything !! And I’m with you about the kids it’s just not relaxing for ANYONE with all the screeching and screaming going on when the kiddos are having fun
Great video as always Jordan. I have never stayed at Mandalay Bay, but after the con of too many kids in Mandalay Bay, I would rather stay at Delano. I have stayed at Delano several times and I love all the rooms are all suites. Yes, the location of Mandalay Bay/Delano are the main con, the entire resort amenities make up for the resort location. I usually party on Fremont Street, but stay on The Strip because I get my rooms comped.
Great vid!! MB is easily the best value on the strip. I went to the UFC 299 watch party at Flankers, which is probably the best sports bar on the strip, and the SB there is a fun spot to catch a game as well. I agree it's the best basic room; I wish MB was center strip. They give excellent service. We can only deal with a night or two because, as you said, there are too many kids.
Yes i do luv M B usually get a taxi from my beloved paris and spend the day there there’s soooo much to do and Ri Ra is just amazing my no2 as mon ami gabi is my no 1 another great vid xxxx
Have always loved Mandalay Bay and Delano. We need another casino across the street from Excalibur/Luxor/Mandalay Bay so you have more options at that end.
I always try to stay at Mandalay Bay because they treat MGM gold members better than any other hotel and the separate check in lounge is second to none.
I would love to stay at Mandalay Bay, it's an amazing hotel the only down side as you point out is the location and perhaps it's a bit on the expensive side although the amenities likely justify that. I think if I just came for a long weekend to Vegas and wasn't planning to go up and down the strip it would be my first choice.
Love Mandalay Bay. Have been staying there for the last 3 years (previously the Mirage was my go to). Kids are hit and miss. I think the time of year makes a difference. I go in early November and there are hardly any (Hopefully they're in school). Ri Ra is great as is the prohibition bar for a late night cocktail and music that isn't a night club.
I stayed there last year. It’s nice but too far of a walk from center strip (which is where the action is at). I’m usually comped at park mgm so I stay there often.
I actually like the wave pool. It puts out one big wave every 60 seconds and if you go chill over to the left side of it where the water is only about 18 inches you can just sit there and relax and the end of the wave brushes by you once every 60 seconds. Go to your local wave pool or the one at universal and all the water does is sit there and splash you in the face the whole time
I’ve been to Mandalay Bay twice, and have stayed in one of those standard rooms and at Delano. Both are top-notch. Overall, Mandalay Bay is just as good, if not better, than Resorts World, out of the hotels I’ve stayed at. Slice of Vegas has the best pizza I’ve had in Vegas, or just about anywhere for that matter. I finally made it up to Foundation Room on my last trip, and the drinks were great. The view was absolutely amazing, and I stayed up there to enjoy it for about an hour or so. Expensive drinks though. 😅
Mandalay Bay and Delano are both great properties with a lot of amenities and restaurants. You are 100% on the money with your comment about the number of kids at that hotel. My wife and I both refer to MB and Delano as “winter” hotels in Vegas, because there aren’t as many kids in the winter. I think the pool/beach is a big draw for families, so if you come in the winter when it’s closed, there aren’t near as many kids.
Great review! 1 Is Rhythm and Riffs non-smoking? 2 Are there a lot of crying babies in the Delano rooms? 3 What is so great about the Center Strip? You said in this video that there is a lot of riff raff there. PH seems good, or great. The Flamingo and LINQ seem ghetto to me. If it weren't for Absinthe, I could pass on CP. Oh yeah. There's Paris too. That place seems really worn out. What am I missing? Thanks 😊
All lounges are non-smoking, state law only allows smoking on the actual casino floor. But Rhythm and Riffs is open to the casino floor so there may be a little bit of smoke wafting in. When we stayed at Delano we didn’t see or hear kids in the rooms, but we definitely saw a lot of families in the elevators.
We love MBay and Delano and often get way better comp offers here than Bellag., Aria, Vdara and others. That is in fact the new location for poker until the foreseeable future...Jason the room manager told me so. Kinda screwed since it used it be in the perfect spot next to the sports book. So loud now but usually a good game since it's typically filled with whales/convention goers who don't know much about the game. Although sometimes pros will frequent it to pick the rec. players off so be aware of that. Restaurant options are ridiculously good. Keep in mind that the tram now closes at 12AM which is really silly as it used to run until 2AM (was 4AM before that...) which was great when you're coming back from the strip later in the evening. 12AM is way too early. Enjoy your videos.
Thanks! According to somebody else in the comments, the poker room on the casino floor just closed and they moved back into the old space. I can't confirm that, but that's what we heard.
Mandalay Bay, in all honesty, is a Top Five Strip Resort in my mind: only behind Fontainebleau, Wynn/Encore, Venetian/Palazzo and the Bellagio. It genuinely rounds out my Top Five because even though I also love the Cosmopolitan, Aria/Vdara, Resorts World and Park MGM...............none of them with the possible exception of Resorts World are as complete as Mandalay Bay, and the value is undeniably impressive here. And it outmuscles Resorts World in my mind because as much as I love the latter, it lacks the soul of Mandalay Bay. Heck, I'd even dare go so far as to argue that if it weren't for the Bellagio Conservatory and Fountains, Mandalay Bay would be better than the Bellagio for sure because while Bellagio may be absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and opulent................it's kind of boring and quiet in comparison when you really think about it as far as nightlife and more approachable dining options are concerned. So at least a fringe argument can be made that Mandalay Bay outshines Bellagio. I know many go on and on and obsess about its southernmost location but, honestly, I think location is by far the single most overrated aspect of planning Vegas trips. For me the overall experience and customer service is BY FAR more important and with all these centralized Caesars resorts milking many's obsession with location to justify their anti-consumer practices.............suddenly it matters much less, doesn't it? I'll take a first-rate experience on either the extreme northern or southern end of the Strip over a mediocre one dead central Strip ANY day and, if I really wanted to be where the action is, a simple monorail ride, Deuce Bus or even brisk stroll can get me where I want to go faster than many think. I walk up and down the Strip all the time every time I'm in Vegas and it's really mind over matter assessing the distance between these resorts: especially with the site the Mirage used to occupy now going offline for several years and thus further putting into perspective (as well as the construction for BLVD most this past year on the other side of Las Vegas Boulevard) how it's all mind over matter working your way up and down the Strip: especially considering the distance between Encore and Fontainebleau is remarkably similar to the distance between T.I. and Caesars Palace. So yeah: I LOVE this resort and agree (aside from location) with your review! Keep up the great work! 🙂
Everything you discussed about Mandalay Bay in this video - good and bad - is true. The standard rooms are great, that bathroom shown was fabulous! I also appreciate the variety of dining options. Mandalay Bay seems to draw conventioneers, families, couples wanting to relax farther away from the Strip, and people attending concerts and sports events on site or nearby. It is a good choice. What usually isn’t discussed are the other benefits, especially if you have a rental car. There is an outlet mall, a Smith’s grocery store and the Town Square Shopping Center within a few miles. Town Square has dining, retail, a movie theater complex and a Whole Foods. All those good things, and yet I don’t stay there. As you detailed, the location is a negative, especially if you don’t have a rental car. That’s not a dealbreaker for me: the real problem is I don’t like their casino, and I definitely don’t like the Luxor casino next door. I should like the Mandalay Bay casino because I don’t like slot machines tightly packed together, but in this case they are spaced too far apart. It feels like the space isn’t used properly. Maybe I feel that way because every time I’ve been it wasn’t busy. Overall, I prefer staying in an area where there are at least 2 hotel/casinos I like to spend time at, like Park MGM/NY-NY, Bellagio/Cosmopolitan/Planet Hollywood or Venetian/Wynn. MGM Resorts will regain control of the Mirage name and design from Hard Rock in about a year and a half: I wonder if they will rebrand and renovate, maybe add a volcano feature.
It will be interesting to see if and when MGM uses that Mirage name. A new volcano would be cool but I can’t see them going to that expense. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Quality and music I love. Do you see a lot of 3:2 blackjack for $25 minimums on the strip or was this an exception? That's all I play. NEVER 6:5. I liked how you said the people were clueless playing $100 on 6:5. Those are the people the casinos sucker into playing for sure and their willingness has ruined it for us!
Thanks! 3:2 is uncommon on the strip for $25 these days, especially on the weekends. The higher-end places typically only offer it for $50 and up, and even then sometimes you have to search for it.
I wasn’t impressed with MB the first time I walked through it in 2022 so I never went back until May 2024 and actually paid attention to what it had to offer. It impressed me much more this time. My only real negative other than location is I got very lost around the casino area.
You don’t have to have them, but they’re certainly nice to have. You are allowed to bring your own and you can inflate them there at the pool for free. They do have a size limit of 48 inches.
I see Mandalay Bay Beach has a Croc infestation now! 🐊 🤣 I've really enjoyed my stays at both MB and Delano. You are bang-on about everything. Cocktail service has been hit or miss, but there are plenty of bars. I agree that Skyfall IS the better lounge and the Rhythm & Riffs bar has good free live music. It's easy enough to walk indoors all the way to Excalibur if you'd rather walk than take the tram. I love Bellagio too, but MB has much more balance of dining price points, and many more options. If MB was center strip it would be twice the cost easily. Great video as always.
Unfortunately no, not on your room rate. You'll still earn points on any resort fee and anything charged to the room as long as you show your player's card at check in.
We love Mandalay Bay! The rooms are nice, the bathroom is awesome and we like having our own closets. I agree on the wave pool. More frequent waves would be awesome.
We haven't watched the video yet to see your thoughts, but we are here now, and are horribly disappointed in almost every aspect of the resort. We usually stay at Bellagio, and thought we would try something new. Although we didn't expect Bellagio caliber, this stay has fallen well below any expectations we had. Will anxiously wait to hear your thoughts when we get home and get a chance to watch! Love your videos!
@@alyonapetrova694 In our opinion, the restrooms on the casino floor were disgusting, the dealers at the tables were miserable, the drinks on the casino floor were almost undrinkable.... To us, it just didn't have the class and elegance we enjoy at Bellagio. This is just our experience and opinion.
@@kimberlywester4108 I agree 100% on the quality/taste of the mixed drinks/beer on tap as I’ve been told multiple times that they use a “gun” system and they never clean the “lines”, which, if true, is nasty. Dealer attitude is also “hit or miss”, even when tipping pretty well per hand, let alone winning. I couldn’t get comped at MB in August but was comped a Renovated Penthouse King Suite at Bellagio………….go figure. Still don’t understand that one.
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. My comparison to Bellagio was strictly the room, which for a standard king I enjoyed more at Mandalay Bay, mostly because of the bathroom and definitely because of the price. Bellagio trumps all other MGM resorts on quality, but to a lot of people that's also a turn off because it comes with a high price tag and a stuffy atmosphere. Thanks as always for watching!
You’re spot on about the “wave” pool. I don’t understand why the cycles are so long. Prices at the Beach Club restaurant are outrageous. Tough to find any open chairs after 10am. MB is the best deal on the strip. I’m curious to see how the closing of the Tropicana and Mirage has adversely affected occupancy.
I stayed there about 20 years ago. It was my favorite property out of the 6 I've stayed at and that includes the Venetian. This business about it or the Rio or even the Palms being too far is not a significant factor. In Vegas I've usually done one of two things, stay on property or not stay on property. These hotels are so huge i'ts just not worth traveling back and forth to your room all day. You wake up, pack a bag and go. Every major hotel has clean bathrooms or at least they did back then and there are plenty of places for food and drink EVERYWHERE! My problem with Vegas these days is the absurd cost of everything. Why does a mixed drink have to be $40-50? You know why? Because suckers will pay for them, that's why. How can you have hotel pools with no place to sit for free? There are so many hotel rooms there on and near the strip. I often wonder how they keep all those rooms full day to day with the cost. The last time I stayed in Vegas it was at the Flamingo in 2005. I paid my bill and looked at the receipt. They charged me over $7 a day for water, not a tax, just a charge. I looked at that and I thought, "Are you freakin' kidding me?." What do you do, opt for not having running water in your room??? Yeah that's when I knew the potato was baked and I haven't been back since. God bless all of you who still find the cost tolerable.
Jordan great video as usual. My wife and I love your channel and have enjoyed lots of recommendations you’ve made. Thanks for all your hard work it was cool to see the cutaways where we saw your video set up. And you are looking jacked bud! Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada. Hope to see you in Vegas someday.
Stayed in a Penthouse Suite with my family Thanksgiving week last year. Pros: spacious casino, nice room, excellent restaurant lineup Cons: long waits for the elevators, VIP check-in wasn’t stellar, coffee can be hard to procure with the coffee/cocktail bar not opening some mornings and the Starbucks way out in the convention area not doing room charges, plus the INSANE $25 charge to use the gym. Definitely a quality property, but not comparable to Bellagio/Aria/Cosmo/Park MGM in service/amenities/location. I actually slightly prefer MGM Grand. Only book if the price is right.
@@butterbrown100 The workout situation at MB is insane, even more so for a “luxury” hotel with 4400 rooms. For free, they have the “Cardio Center,” which is basically on the level of what you’d find in an apartment complex or Courtyard Inn. Some treadmills and ellipticals, along with a sad rack of assorted dumbbells. The real gym (which is hard-sold as an upgrade when you check in at the cardio center) is in another part of the complex. It’s much nicer (though not Bellagio/Aria-level), but you have to pay $25 per visit, regardless of room/MGM status. I honestly can’t think of another hotel of this scale that charges for their gym, much less gives you a terrible gym as some sort of perverse incentive to make you pay for the real version. I’ve stayed in all MGM Strip properties other than Luxor/Excaliber, and this is the only one with a fitness center fee.
@@canoone1975 wow! That is ridiculous… I’m sure you were charged resort fees only to be cheated out of something else. Thanks for the heads up on this.
@@ShowMeVegas It's beyond nuts. When you walk in the "regular" gym, they immediately start in with "you know there's a much better gym on property that's available for a small fee." If you ever want to read about it for kicks, just Google "Mandalay Bay workout/fitness/gym" and several Redditt threads about it will pop up. Not really sure why MGM allows a lone property to have a separate, one-off gym policy different from literally every other property they own.
I stayed there New Year night ‘21. I thought the room was extremely comfortable. But I do remember the smell of marijuana up the corridor of the level I was staying on and could hear everything going on in next room. I had to get up at 4:30 to go catch my flight and ones next door came in and carried on from 3 am and on. So couldn’t even sleep.
yup, manda bays location is its biggest drawback! dead south, but of course ..closest wok to the vegas sign so that a huge bonus..also the stigma of being the hotel with the mass shooter rifle guy! when i was at luxor in july last month i went over to the mandabay to wok around and it was pretty much dead! shark reef was sadAF..great pool complex, i was able to wok in as a free guest from luxor so that was nice!also the guests and clientelle here are rich folks not the brokeass and ghetto families who are poor like at excalibur lol ..so
Mandalay Bay is just not for me. I think you are stuck in an MGM rewards rut! If you bring Ashden back to Vegas sometime treat her to Wynn, (where I usually stay about 7 days each trip), or take her to stay at Encore, Fountainbleu or somewhere nice (your budget permitting)! I know you have stayed there maybe once or so before. Even the Cosmo under the MGM brand is starting a change downward, beginning with their wicked spoon buffet. Let Ashden see my comment and how she feels. Like your video's though! 🙂
We’re definitely MGM loyal, but on this channel just in the past year we’ve covered several Caesars properties, Fontainebleau, Resorts World, Crockfords, Encore, Circa, and Palazzo. More non-MGM content is also on tap. We strive to maintain balance and think we’ve done a pretty good job. Thanks as always for watching!
I bought a small plug strip on Amazon for $12 bucks that has lots of plugs and USB and USB-C because I'm not going to count on the room having what I need for my devices. I would totally stay at MB even thought it's not center Strip. It's easy to get to that area if needed and once Brightline West is built that end of the Strip will be hopping. 💥🚆
We travel with a power strip (or two) as well but most people don’t. Unfortunately the lamp plugs sometimes don’t even work or they’re loose and the plug just falls out of them. Thanks for watching!
