By far this is the best Mandarin course out there. Their customer service is hands down the best. They really care about the customer. I had this course now for two months and I recommend buying the full course you won’t regret it. Thank you so much for making this video. Great job!

I tried learning Mandarin on my own last year. I found your review of this, and so I am now binging their courses to get my Mandarin up. I want to be able to pay for meet and greet tickets for my favorite Chinese singer/actor but want to speak with him during it. I also love Chinese fiction books, but the translations online are sometimes weird. 😅 I think this may help get me higher in level now. I appreciate you looking through it for me first.

I’ve been studying on it for a few days now and I’m really loving it. At first I was laughing at the scene imagery then wondering if it would actually work. I was surprised that it did help me remember the material. Awesome sauce 🎉

Thanks so much for this video! I especially loved the image you created for the character gān. It really helps give an idea of how their memory system works by showing us visually what we're really only imagining in our minds during the course. In other words, you don't have to create images like that physically, you just imagine a similar image in your mind. I'm also a user of Mandarin Blueprint -- I've been a customer for about a year, and if you want to learn how to read and write Chinese characters, there really is no other program you should even consider. It's totally worth it. And the customer service is first rate. If you are just starting out learning mandarin, however, I highly recommend starting with the pronunciation mastery course. It will be so helpful down the road. And because they are native English speakers they really understand how Western speakers might have a hard time positioning the tongue, for example, to create certain sounds. They really know how to explain to westerners how to make these sounds. (The Chinese example recordings ARE by native Mandarin speakers, by the way, so don't worry By the way, I use it on my phone, which works great, but I don't like to switch to pen and paper, so I use the superb Pleco dictionary app. You can actually write characters with your finger to test yourself. Also, they recommend that you supplement your learning with immersion in comprehensible input (podcasts, videos, etc.) After lots of trial and error, I've settled on FluentU, because their videos are so much fun and they start with absolute beginner dialogues and integrate them with spaced reputation flashcard-type quizzes. Luke and Phil rock!

It's much easier to learn characters naturally by reading things that are comprehensible. You kill two birds with one stone - growing your vocabulary and character recognition at the same time :-) Two super beginner channels I recommend are Crazy Laoshi and Comprehensible Chinese. Start with their beginner videos. It grew my vocabulary so fast and I learned a ton of grammar naturally while enjoying some fun stories (they have both fiction and non-fiction stories).
@SeaboltSpeaks
@SeaboltSpeaks 10 месяцев назад
I dunno. This is pretty easy. I also read a ton for reinforcement using duchinese.
@janelle.loves.languages
@janelle.loves.languages 10 месяцев назад
@@SeaboltSpeaks The point was that the activity of writing out characters is a time waste when you naturally learn them by reading anyhow. More time spent with individual characters means less time spent on vocabulary and internalizing naturally grammar in context….your speed and ease of reading and listening and in turn output will increase more by focusing on pure input rather than skill building of character recognition.
@SeaboltSpeaks
@SeaboltSpeaks 10 месяцев назад
@@janelle.loves.languages definitely disagree. And that’s ok :). I personally have had way more success since I started writing in terms of internalizing vocab, characters, tones etc.
@janelle.loves.languages
@janelle.loves.languages 10 месяцев назад
@@SeaboltSpeaks Then you aren't truly reading and listening to things that are actually comprehensible.... which is why I recommended you those comprehensible input channels in Chinese.
@SeaboltSpeaks
@SeaboltSpeaks 10 месяцев назад
@@janelle.loves.languages how is reading stories at my level not comprehensible Input. That’s literally the purpose of du Chinese. I also do a lot of immersion in other methods. This video was specifically about mandarin blueprint

I'm 1 year into Mandarin Blueprint, about 600 characters and a thousand words. I study about an hour a day, maybe a bit more on weekends. My wife is native Chinese and she is extremely impressed with the self taught progress and the program overall. Within 1 year from zero understanding to reading and pronouncing paragraphs of simple kids stories or graded readers is pretty amazing. It is a lot of work, but you won't be wasting your time with this program and I also believe it's the best way to learn the most difficult language in the world for native English speakers. Worth every penny IMO.

Definitely a frustrating thing about getting software like this is that you can't really properly browse it like you can skim through a book in a bookstore (back when they used to have bookstores..). I'd say it's a tall order for them to say their course will take you all the way to the top level of Chinese for foreigners (even if combined with immersion). When I was studying Japanese I tried learning to write the characters over and over and eventually gave it up. Of course it's helpful and sometimes even enjoyable. But I just kept forgetting them and I think reading them over and over got the job done in the long run anyway. BTW very nice job with the video editing.

Will They Teach From The Scratch Level ? I mean like what is Pinyin?
@SeaboltSpeaks
@SeaboltSpeaks 3 месяца назад
Yes! If you know zero mandarin you can use this course. They have a pinyin course and pronunciation guide. And then you actually learn the characters using pinyin.

It helped me a lot. It works with memory palaces, not just rote memorization. You assign people you know, and locations you are familiar with so the mnemonic you create is specific to YOU.
