*A couple people asked me to respond to a youtuber's video response to this video. Since I expect more comments about this, I'll point out just one thing for now:
( TLDR : RU-vidr makes a video saying I've misrepresented a study - say my words don't match the study I referenced. He was looking at the wrong study.)
At 11:22 of the video response he says "This is where things get really bad and I think he needs to correct this in some way..." and brings up the part of my video where I said "Unfortunately, it looks like iron supplements don't cut it for pregnant women. Despite taking prenatal vitamins with iron, 58% of the women had iron levels below normal." He goes on to say that he looked forever at this study that I referenced, only to find that this 58% figure was no where in the study and that I was blatantly misrepresenting the study. Moreover, he says "Worst of all, this [study] actually undermines his whole video on heme iron, because all 19 of those women were given heme iron throughout their pregnancy..." That is, he's suggesting that if there is a 58% of women who had low levels of iron despite supplementing with iron, these women were actually supplementing with heme iron and therefore heme iron is not effective for maintaining iron levels in pregnant women.
Ironically, this is a misinterpretation on his part.
The reason he couldn't find that 58% figure in that particular paper of mine he was looking at was because it was the wrong study. The source for the statement "Despite taking prenatal vitamins with iron, 58% of the women had iron levels below normal" is NOT the study he was looking at - "Maternal hepcidin is associated with placental transfer of iron derived from dietary heme and nonheme sources."
The source for the 58% figure is "Maternal prenatal iron status and tissue organization in the neonatal brain."

■Edit: Some people seem to think I am advocating "blood letting" despite flashing on screen in all caps "I'm not saying people should 'bleed' themselves" and that any benefit experienced by people in the past probably had something to do with placebo effect as well. So, no, I'm not advocating old school "blood letting." ■Edit#2: There's a response video to this video by a youtuber that a couple people have asked me to comment on. @@WhatIveLearned it depends on my most recent blood test results. My doctor recently said to do one every other month but my mom told me she said to just keep doing for a year (she didn't understand what the doctor said). I tried to tell her I was pretty sure I needed another blood test before continuing but she disagreed. After 3 blood donations, I finally just decided to ask my doctor if I should keep going. She said she needed a blood test of course. I should have listened to my instincts. The results came back with a ferritin level of 7 (13 is the lowest limit for my age/height/gender/etc). My ears are ringing, I'm beyond exhausted, and I have chest pains and migraines. Hopefully I'll get back up there soon, but of course I'll probably never be anemic again. I tend to have phlebotomies every 6 months on average. I found out I had it when I was 15. I'm 20 now. It was very cool to see a video that mentioned my disorder. People rarely talk about it. And in Grey's Anatomy they pronounced it "hemo-toma-chrosis". 😂

It would be indeed, but it's a hard field to gather information on. Nutrition effects are generally long term, and it's hard (and often times unethical and illegal) to get people to consume specific compounds or foods regularly. Even if you paid people to follow a specific diet for 12 months, it's really not that long of a period, they might break the diet and lie, or they might drop out midway through. Imagine meat being toxic.. even though you are made of meat... studies never lie! Tip for those willing to try it: Raw meat is the way to go. Our ancestors ate raw meat for millions of years, cooking meat reduces nutrients and cause the protein to become toxic. It seems there is no limit, since many people thrive on a carnivore diet. The problems are likely to occur when you understand how one type of food is eaten in combination with others. For example, there is almost zero Vitamin C in meat, but it would be enough unless you also eat carbohydrates. Carbohydrates can suppress the uptake of Vit C since they compete with the same metabolic pathways.

A short note on style: I prefered the more simple animations of your older videos, and I think you have to be very careful with adding sound effects. Sometimes fancier animations and sounds hinder the viewers ability to digest the information instead of aiding it. For example 13:15 there is information overload, and the sound effects are distracting. Still love the channel though.

Kind of irresponsible to simply state that iron supplements are inadequate when in the article Bradley Peterson states that the pregnant women self reported their iron intakes, emphasis on self report. We don't know which vitamins they were taking, whether they were synthetic or organic, whether they were multivitamins or not, etc etc.

I reduced my meat consumption a little while back and it took me a long time before I was able to donate blood regularly to the Red Cross as I normally do (approaching the 4 gallon mark). Heme iron is most easily absorbed, other methods take a ton of care and strategy to get absorbed properly.

It depends on your APOE genetics but yes you don't ever want to eat iron supplements. Alzheimers is basically iron and metal entanglements. Dementia is more rotting of the arteries, peripheral vascular disease, coronary disease. All the same thing.

I was a vegetarian (Seventh day Adventist) my whole life until 2 years ago. I would recall my childhood feeling like I was in a daze/fog for most of it, and even in my adult life as well. Now I haven't had brain fog in the entire time I've been eating meat. Anecdotal, yes, but I'm a believer big time now.🥩🍖🍗🥓. I just feel better, and I crave cheese/eggs/bread far less now.

Everything else aside do you know anything about IBD and Crohn's? Has it ever caught your interest? It might. It's generally only seen in first world countries though we don't know what causes it. That said diagnosis rates are apparently exploding in nation's with high levels of air pollution like India and china so a leading theory is that the particulate matter may play a role
@Mrrossj01

Evolution. Humans consumed insects. 80% of the world's population consume insects. Only in European, herding people are animals the prrponderant source of protein. The biggest problem with meat is the high n-6 to n-3 fatty acids from animal consumption of seeds, which are huge sources of n-6 fatty acid. A high n-6 to n-3 ratio is inflammatory and is relevant to all chronic illness.

My sister got anemia after going vegan for a year. She's a nutritionist and took all the proper supplements, I'm happy to say she's back on the meat wagon. Funny how human’s over complicate things. We evolved being Hunter/Gatherers. We chased Bison for days and would eat meat and fish, while women collected wild veggies and occasionally fruit. We never found loaves of bread or bowls of cereal laying in the forest. So a high meat diet, with veggies and some fruit would logically be what our bodies naturally evolved to eat.
