Back at it with a new take on my "worth it" series but this time on my other favorite thing... mods! We all want to do it and often times over do it. So where is the sweet spot? Let's find out.
We are using my favorite car, the Porsche GT3RS but the theory should apply to all.

Welcome to NA Tuning. To be Fair , Porsche engenieers are no Joke, the 3.8 metzer is already a "build" Motor so to get more Power you have to spend Money that Porsche didnt spend at the develeopmenz

You should definitely re-try the 3 dyno runs, now that the stock gt3-rs is fixed! Make it a follow-up video, just for comparison under the same conditions. For science's sake. Nevertheless. Still a fun series though, excited to see what will the next set of cars will be!

I want to turbo my e36. Apparently you can get some decent numbers out of the m50 with forced induction, while still maintaining streetability. Problem is deciding how I want to go about it.

Vin any chance of getting a bolt on boi project going? Would like to see your process in picking a model with good inventory and lots of aftermarket support. Actually selecting a car that’s a good candidate for bolt on mods, with just routine servicing on the drivetrain. Also how you go about selecting which bolt on mods to buy.

Grand Am splitter on Joe's car is so based. Full floor and tunneled making it so much superior aero wise to the cup lip. Much needed front downforce and very underrated. Not sure I've seen a street car run that.

Yeah, it’s painful price to pay. I’ve seen the 991.1 gt3 engine put down 449rwhp with headers and a tune. Much cheaper

For reference a 992 gt3rs would dyno about 450-60 rwhp stock. Maybe a hair less if weather makes it pull timing.

Love your explanations. I've always said boosted motors come in their own planning.. pick your hp goal & use, turbo to make that boost/hp, motor, fuel, & clutch/trans parts that will hold that boost/hp without breaking. Then dial it back to stay in budget/ time etc.. if the trans blows at 400 tq & don't want to buy a built trans, then that 500 goal & turbo might need to be dialed down to a 400hp setup.. Option 2 is max out the stock turbo & be happy with that, replace what breaks. Each part has its limit of hp/tq/boost etc. Like head bolts pulling out at xx-psi, or rods breaking at 400hp etc.. whatever your goal, make boost to make hp & build motors to stay together 🤘🔧

I know it's not the most loved generation of the 911, but seeing Tsuchiya sliding that white 996 gt3 in the mountains of Japan made me want one so bad when I was younger. Still want one too. The 997 gt3 is my number 2 pick though, but all of them are pretty rad.

The clutch pedal on the stock 3RS is what threw me off my first time driving one so the second time around i channeled my inner drummer and treated the clutch like a kick drum and it changed the experience completely - I wouldn’t mind a softer pedal though - great video vin now I need to drive a full dundon and fully built ❤

Conditions shouldn’t matter THAT much on a dyno jet, that’s what correction factors are for. Theoretically you should be able to get that same 360 sae corrected in any scenario. Because that is the corrected number.

I think a slightly modded 996 is very good value. Fixed IMS, headers, intake, bilsteins, good budget base. The 997 is a bit more expensive.
