I think there’s true magic to the game, but a lot of that can collide with nostalgia. I still play it waiting for bannerlord and I still have a blast, even though I’ve been playing it for 3 years now.
@@jumpyg1258 Most of the lords at the beginning of the campaign (or maybe all of them, i am not sure) aren't random generated. However, as the years pass you'll see the new ones that the game generates as far as i know.
As someone who miraculously only discovered Warband in 2017, I am able to to assert with the utmost certitude that no nostalgia is required to fully enjoy this absolute (albeit slightly unrefined) gem of a game.
I do like that they are trying to make things more "believable" with the whole family aspect. Let's be honest, warband is really lacking in that department. Which does make the game a bit boring after a while. Bannerlord too, but it already takes a lot longer with those mini games they added.
Imagine how hectic a koifish hosted multiplayer event with fans would be. Just 60 people doing Swedish accents screaming that’s a nice head you have on your shoulders. That would leave everyone with shattered eardrums
The base game is great for what it is - a template for modders to create their own, more in-depths worlds. Haven't played it in a while, but I think I spent more time on this game than any other.
Totally agree to this video, I was hoping that bannerlord would just add features to the allready existing ones from warband and ofcourse improve the graphics, but sadly they tried to change it too much for my liking. Maybe bannerlord will be fun with enough mods for me at some point but I think that will take 1 or 2 more years... crazy to think that I was a 15yo young kid when I was first hyped about bannerlord and now I'm allready a 21yo adult.... warband will forever have a place in my heart which bannerlord will probably never be able to replace.
I bought Warband a month ago after I got a new gaming PC and its one of the bestgame I've ever played. The Massive battles, fun characters and faction wars make up an experience I've never played anywhere else. Its truly a classic and I hope you never stop making awesome content about such a masterpiece.
Ah yes, Köífïsh plays Warband again... We have the great knights of Swadia, which always declare war against everyone before sitting down and having a feast, and losing all of their lands. Then we got the Rodocks... Maybe they take one Swadian castle and wreck the sarranids before settling down and deflecting all sieges with their braindead crossbowmen and glaives. Then the sarranids, sand bois. You'll never see them because they usually get wrecked in less than a week. They suck anyway. Then you got the kerghs. Or however you spell that shit, all you gotta know is they have horse archers and nobody likes horse archers so dollar store Kahn survives the whole game. Then you got Vageirs. Or the Russians, great archers. But the Nords are better, consider them dead in about a week. Then you have the Nords, strong axe bois. Usually bully everyone on the map
Rhodok strategy: Find hill Put men on top of hill Wait Win But for real, the rhodoks are the closest thing to the roman legion in warband, thanks to their big ass board shield
I like how right after Koifish was going to say that the game didn't have any bugs, not only was he viewing the back of his shield instead of the merchant, but also when he went onto the overworld map, the oceans were nothing but literal cow-water (which is a bug that frequently happens to me as well)
i put hundreds of hours into warband and am well on my way to doing the same in bannerlord. bannerlord has a lot more to do in the base game, and feels much more open ended, while i also feel a lot more involved in the affairs of the kingdoms and more in control of my own kingdom. you’re absolutely right about the mods, but i think bannerlord will catch up in that regard, tons of cool mods in development already that i’ve heard about
i just started playing it before i play bannerlord, and im just gonna say it i dont think i will be alive by the time i get bored with this game, its one of the greatest ive ever played, and i regret never taking recommendations on it, its definitely not just nostalgia, its one of the most addicting games ive come across
@@KristofKarwinskithegreat-se5pu That's actually how POP is designed to be played. The main quest such as it is involves alliance with the Noldor. You can ignore it and sandbox however you want though. It's not a coincidence there are two books that improve Noldor relations and not for any other faction.
I remember the first time I completely conquered the map, I too worshipped our Lord and savior jeremus, he loved me too so I made him a vassal of my newly founded kingdom but no, he didn't want to be a vassal he wanted everything, he defected and went with the desert people. My kingdom was on the verge of ruin but somehow I convinced an elderly swan man with 200 troops to join my 1 fief kingdom. Fuck jeremus
Raiding in Warband: attack the village, peasants resisting, cut them down, loot their various good. Raiding in Bannerlord: wait outside village for ungodly long timer to complete, get one trade good with a generic bag or barrel graphic. Less talking, more raiding, Warband is still superior.
Warband is more loved part because of the nostalgia , but its a small part, the bigger part is because of the modding community , bannerlord is like a1-2 year old since full release vs warband and the astronomical number of mod who had like 10 year to being complet and fonctionning. its just not the case atm with bannerlord, was not, because, its changed, with mode like Banner king, who is kinda, crusader king into mount and blade, Or, for real one, Its feel alot like Prophecy of pendore.
I think there is a lot of nostalgia affecting people's opinions... Sequels are hard to create, especially when people love the originals, because it will be difficult for the new ones to surpass the greatnes of the previous ones. Bannerlords does not only have better graphics, but it has features that do not exist in Warband and which tbh, I can't live without anymore. Sieges are so much better in Bannerlord, the battle movement is a lot better, I love how the horse handles in Bannerlord vs how it moves in Warband, and much of what is currently in Bannerlord surpasses Warband imo, with a few exceptions... - I would still like to have spoken dialog in Bannerlord, even if only small sentences like "That's a nice head you have on your shoulders", they didn't add much, but they did manage to make encounters in Warband feel slightly more lively, even though many mods removed them :P - Dunno what else... Maybe not being able to "follow" caravans... ... and that's the problem... I've played Warband once after buying Bannerlord, because many of the struggles I had with Warband were fixed in Bannerlord... Herd missions are so much better in Bannerlord, while before I'd simply avoid them like the plague, soon you will be able to follow caravans in Bannerlord as well (next update I think, been busy playing some of the other games I purchased recently :P), and with every update more things get improved, QoL features improve stuff that was a pain in Warband but not in Bannerlord, and I honestly think it's the nostalgia that keeps players from thinking Bannerlord is superior... Sure, it has no mods, but if a game is only good because of it's mods, is it really *that* good?...
I just recently did a "Antiviking" run in Viking Conquest, starting as a Frisian, siding with the English in the Storyline, buying 6 Skeids and then taking Friese back from those a-holes with as much prejudice as possible. Now when Danes in Ribe look at the sea at night, they pray to Odin that the "Frisian Reaper" is not coming to their shore. So yeah, until bloc singlehandedly finishes the work TW has started, I may play Bannerlord from time to time, but Warband is still my favorite.
I like Warband, but it has issues. Mostly in the late game. Wish the AI lords and kings had some option to increase opinion with eachother. By the end of the game everyone hates eachother and each King has one lord they split all their land with, instead of a faction you’re fighting two guys with doom stacks. Unit variety and whatnot could be better, and bandits could also use some sort of upgrade tree to make them more worthwhile to fight in the late game. That being said BUTTER FOR THE BUTTERLORD
I know this is a meme video, but a lot of other youtubers are making serious videos on the topic and I find it hilarious. It's as if they think the warband player base all just went to bannerlord. Warband still has about a third of the numbers bannerlord has, it's not like warband has died and is some forgotten relic. Loads of people still play it, if the game held up in 2019 then guess what, it still does in 2021. Peace and Love.

I havent watched yet, but I think Warband is actually a pretty awful game, its just that its the only one of its type. If a big studio had make something like it, it would have shown how bad vanilla warband really is. (Not a triple A company per say, but one with a big budget.)
