hi!! something I should have clarified in the video is that when I briefly talked about how I went back to accel but turned it off after a bit, I tried plenty of other curves and types of accel throughout that time period for weeks at a time and my opinion on accel didn't change. It felt tangential to include at the vid at the time of writing but looking back I can see that it would have been absolutely worth mentioning. I think that what I say here is applicable regardless of accel curve for the most part, barring a few exceptions like sarahfrags' accel which is so subtle that what I say doesn't really apply.

I just use an uncapped linear curve as It is much easier for my brain. Any exponential or other non-linear curve would give me the same problem as you said. And I primarily choose mouse accel for comfort issue. I use it globally and it is actually especially helpful for working (for example CAD). Mouse acceleration were actually implemented for productivity, not gaming. Using mouse acceleration reduce a lot of wrist and arm fatigue and I can play games without 'battling' my mouse. Here is my config: > Acceleration : 0.25 > Cap Type : Input > Cap Input : 0 > Input Offset : 0

If I understood the essence correctly, you're saying that using rawAccel can help improve aim to a certain extent. I'm trying it out and I have a few questions: What about the rAccel settings for flicks and for tracking? Do they differ? Do you use Input offset? And in general, what were your rAccel settings?

In my opinion using mouse accel helps you stay calm in times of fighting, I used mouse accel for a few days and when I disabled it and went back to my normal settings I got a lot better at staying calm and not "shaking" as much sometimes. where you had to be fast and have precise braking (combined with a change in sensitivity to use ADS, the improvement is even more noticeable). This is just personal, I don't know if it will also help anyone else. (i played Apex, CS, Valorant and CoD)

wow, I just got this video randomly recommended to me and was surprised at how good it was, as someone who started using Accel around 3 months ago using settings pretty identical to yours I also noticed this issue, i was hitting my flicks more in cs without breaking my wrist due to low sens and it felt good but when i played bf5 or quake i felt like i couldn't track at all with reg guns and could only hit snipes and rocket shots, I'm probably gonna turn it off now and try going to a normal sens now and see if that helps me out, thank you for the video, i sub ^w^

Ive been on RawAccel for well over 3 years now. Ive been through many curves, base sensitivities and had breaks from accel where I was on raw static sens. All I can say is that you can adapt to pretty much anything and acceleration is just a means to an end in terms of building mouse control. You could probably switch your curve drastically every week and still see progress in your KovaakS scores. What really matters is how well we can train to manipulate our hand and arm muscles to control our mouse.

I tried raw accel because of the hype. It feels really intuitive in some games but I find myself switching off the graphs and its become a universal sensitivity control across games (set 1 in game change in rawaccel). Its fun to experiment. This video has been really informative and I think youve asked the right questions when investigating mouse accel.

I use a duo sens curve. It's basically 4100 dpi at tracking speed and micro adjustments and doubles at flicking speed. It works wonders for me. Tracking is natural, 180s is a breeze and flicking accross a range is consistent. It's static at all times, it just doubles at a certain range and speed of movement, which you never do unless you want to flick to something far away or do a 180. I believe you can make mouse accel work for you. Especially if large mouse movements is uncomfortable.

this happens because of tension management. while focusing on your aim, aim training, youre putting more tension down the arm. this makes your microcorrections more pronounced, faster, and thus isnt what youre used to/wanting to do/ while focusing on other things, youre game etc, you have less tension in the arm, meaning your microcorrections are more smoothed out due to their slower speed

I used mouse acceleration for decades and still prefer it. The problem was, at least in the past, if this isn’t still the case, not all games supported it. Lots of games would ignore your mouse driver and use the raw input data, so you couldn’t use acceleration in those games. For the longest time all I was playing was Counter-Strike anyway, and it supported using it perfectly. Then in 2009 iRacing got a hold of me and I basically stopped playing everything since I found racing more enjoyable by then. And then PUBG came out. Now I split my time between it and iRacing. I was pissed that PUBG seemed to be using the mouse directly rather than using the driver input dats, as acceleration was missing. I adapted, but would still prefer to use the same acceleration that I’ve been using since Quake came out. Heh. I can see why different people prefer each way. Some people can get used to how acceleration works and some people can’t. Some people will be better with it and some without. I’ll go you one better: I’ve been using a trackball since Unreal was released, and specifically the Microsoft Trackball Explorer since it was released. Using a mouse is so much worse than a finger-operated trackball. ;)

I have actually tried a curve like that for a while, and actually wrote a segment into the script about it but cut it since it felt too disconnected from the core idea. My main few issues were that I struggled to flick, it wasn't as consistent as using a linear curve with a cap for me for flicks since the "flat" part of the curve had moved to cover the micros. I also ran into the same issue on that curve trying to train flicks as I did training micros, I couldn't start slower and get faster since my sens would change when I increased my speed. I also found it a bit hard to choose a suitable sensitivity for it, I played on around 30cm/360 base and increasing from there didn't rly provide any speed benefits, especially since I use my arm to flick primarily. If I lowered my sens to something like 40cm and had it peak at 30cm, it just made micros very uncomfortable to do with my wrist due to the lower range of motion. I did use this type of accel for a couple months and I do think I prefer it to a linear curve with no offset, but I think no accel is still preferable for most people. The exception to that is people who play a super low base sensitivity and are comfortable using their arm for smaller movements than I am, I can def see the benefit there for maintaining good accuracy in micros while not losing out on speed which is what I wrote into the script, but yea it just felt too tacked on and I cut it, I didn't think that many ppl used that type of accel haha
@baecere2
@baecere2 10 месяцев назад
@@ViscoseOCE I use a super low sens in every game I play and the only way to fix that flixing problem is knowing how many mm I flick for something medium-far to make it easier for 180s I add enough mm so I can 180 and hit flicks without it overlapping. Also custom curve is pretty neat if you can get in touch with whaamkabaam he made that program I believe he could make you a curve you are looking for so you can have that super low sens and high sens.
@CaIIumscorner
@CaIIumscorner 10 месяцев назад
@@ViscoseOCE I use a linear curve with a cap but with an input offset of about 110. I used to play pretty high sens before switching to rawAccel so i mainly wrist aim. The only thing that has suffered in macro flicking meaning flicks using my arm. Micro flicks are better than ever. While I'm not sure about cm per 360 my current curve is base about 0.78, my max sens is capped at 1.1 with high acceleration (I'd say the ideal base sense in between 0.75 and 0.85 for most wrist aimers). I do 90% of my aiming via wrist and I have far more control over the mouse than what I ever had before in terms of micro adjustments and velocity control. I will say I basically only play Apex legends and haven't even tried on Val or CSGO so I don't know how detrimental the input offset could be there but for my use case it's perfect. I'll put my curve setting here for anyone interested DPI: 16000 (not a typo) Poll Rate: 4000 Sens multiplier: 0.078 Linear curve No gain Accel: 0.00076 Output Cap: 1.43 Input Offset:110 In-game sens of 0.8 I will say tho you do need to get the input offset as low as you can while still tracking consistently. It takes a while but you really need to narrow it down as far as you can so it doesn't feel sluggish then jumpy

I had the same findings as you so I only used it for the very fine adjustments, the acceleration curve would almost immidiately revert to the normal sensitivity of 1.0 after moving it past this small aim adjustments sensitivity area. I'm still just trying it out but using only a small amount of acceleration seems decent.

Raw accel always seemed quite weird. The curves seemed odd and unnatural. I recently switched curves in custom curve. THe curve I used before had the exact same problem the video pointed out. Now im using a curve that isnt limiting the micro adjustment problem. It is low but downt have a huge spike in sens but more like a very smooth transition from low to fast. With that it feels very fast when you use it the first time but when u play it for a while youll get used to it and counter those problems mentioned. Even then I must say that this video really points out a huge problem in mouse accel. Most users use some curve which limits their abilities. This video showed me personally that curves shouldnt have huge differences in speed but a rather stable and smooth transition in order for it to be just a little help for my aim. Very good and thought through video ty

Okay your video is genuinely very well explained. You explained everything that I’ve experienced as well, I overshoot a lot and I’m extremely low sens tbh. I tried taking mouse acceleration off before when someone asked why I use it but I couldn’t adapt to it but I’ll have to try it again. I’m so used to mouse acceleration being on cause of me playing on lower sens but I sometimes feel that I turn way too quick when I don’t want that, especially with tracking. But sure it feels weird cause my aim is pretty good, but I can tell it’s probably holding me back. Especially saying that I wanted to adapt to higher sens as well, perhaps this may help? I’ve just heard that with league of legends it might be bad but I’ll try it for a week and see how it is. Thank you for the video, this is the best video I’ve seen on mouse acceleration without someone’s opinion being so one sided for once haha

I honestly prefer low sens if I can choose, since it feels very consistent. I hate manoeuvring and turning on low sens and especially when playing long sessions, it fatigues my arm and hand. I never had the problem that you described however. I think it really depends on your curve. I am also using a small offset, to not mess up my micro adjustments.

Ur ryt, its never my fault. At first its because i didn't use raw accel, now its because im using raw accel. Jokes aside, the improvement I got from raw accel has plateaued, ill try turning it off and see what happens. I think the idea that "you just haven't found your best curve" actually has merit but not in the sense you would think. Finding the best curve is severely underestimated in terms of time and effort, you have to test out different settings at different situations (flicks, tracking, etc etc). Time and effort you could have just used in training a static sense. And if you do find the "best curve", chances are it is only the best in a specific genre of games. Arena shooters vs tac shooters are 2 very different aim styles (precision vs accuracy) that I initially thought raw accel can bridge and create a setting that works for both, but instead, it just made the difference worse. When I get good in a tac shooter using raw accel, I become bad in an arena shooter, and vice versa. You can argue, just make a separate curve for arena shooter and tac shooter. That is exactly my point, the time and effort for getting the best curve is severely underestimated. EDIT: I ranked up in valorant with raw accel when I was playing valorant exclusively, but when I tried other games, fortnite and finals specifically, my skill in valorant fell off a cliff and I just became ass in all 3 games.

i think you get better at having a wider range in smooth tracking and quick wide flicks but lose skill in reactive tracking or quick micro adjustments basically lowering the skill floor and skill ceiling making it easier to get into but reduces maximum potential it might be a good quick fix if your not into intense aim training but actually getting good at the game putting aiming aside

accel is good for target switch and overall REACH around you, But tracking can be extremely hard. I used to play a lot of overwatch. I played with accel a majority of the time. I could not hit tracers, because the micro jumps and the strafe spam required FAST tracking. When tracking FAST, you just fly off towards the moon. But, as bastion, You get these situations, where you just blast everyone. So target switching works really well. I got to a point, where I had to main FLICK, then correction to get on target. This was possible, because of accel. It didnt matter where they were on the screen. First flick brought me close, correction then brought me to the target. I used to play a lot, so a lot of practice. I wonder how different things could be, when I did all of that without accel.

overwatch and other lowttk games are the most difficult games to aim on, no momentum strafing combined with lower ttk and fast movements creates a high skill curve scenario that rewards the player for having great aim mechanics where as in games like val, csgo, seige, bf, etc reward the player more for crosshair placement and reaction time than they do for raw aim. A lot of the best aimers come from OW and this is not a coincidence

ive used mouse acceleration for the past 10 years ive spent gaming on pc. when i first started gaming on pc, it was on my family mac. mouse acceleration was on by default and i never knew till 4-5 years later. i didnt change it as i was already used to it and thought i could just learn to play with it better. i suppose it was also cause i felt it made me unique and that was cool. i was pretty good but flicking and fast movements in aim would throw me off when fighting in crucial close quarters engagements when the enemies moved alot. i moved to windows 6 years ago and turned on mouse acceleration on it too. 3 days ago, i decided to finally turn it off and train my aim again to see if i get much better. within the past 3 days ive already seen a massive improvement in my aim. please never mouse acceleration. its not an aim cheat code, its not an alternative way to aim, its not good in the slightest. stay away from it before you get used to it. it really does just hold you back. to think i could've been so much better for so many of these years of gaming if i never had it on.

So the issue is microadjustments. You lose confidence because you overshoot in microadjustments. Sounds like a problem that needs solving to me. Maybe the acceleration needs to be delayed (flat beginning of curve). Looks like the Raw Accel program doesn't have that feature by looking at the interface. InterAccel does, of course it's made by a old man who is a 20+ years Quake veteran, and based off the acceleration in Quake 3. i think the accel curve angle needs to be reduced. a thought: with less angle in curve, you literally get more leeway in the accel. cursor won't go too much slower or faster if you move mouse slightly faster or slower.

Damn, I did not know that so many people used mouse accel to the point they have custom made accel curves to fit their liking. I never felt like using this, ever since I started playing FPS games like almost two decades ago. I just disable mouse accel and other stuff in any game I play, I don't want anything "correcting" or smoothing my inputs. If I miss, that's on me.

I use accel only on wide turn arounds .So settings mostly dosnt change mouse speed untill i need fast turn . Thare is no benefit in changing mouse speed steady from start to end of the curve . On tracking and precice shots you need stable mose speed .its not that important on turns tho .

With acceleration on, can you flick to target purely based on muscle memory, without tracking where you aim with your eyes? Anyway, I recall trying and disliking acceleration all the way back in cs 1.6 days, because it limited my speed of aiming and forced me to get slow for making microadjustments. I think having no hindrances to your aiming speed is as important as accuracy.

the only useful thing i would argue about this program being good for aim is slightly adjusting the x axis in which your mouse reads. It will help you flick from left to right easier if you dont have a perfect left to right straight line when closing your eyes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rz4bTnUNLU4.html this video is what helped me have more flat aim. I have had issues with flicks left to right where my mouse goes diagonally above the target and vis versa. It didnt feel natural. this program is not a fix all for bad aim by any means. but its worth a shot if youre struggling mainly on left to right tracking and flicks. only fool with the x axis and nothing more . mouse acceleration will make you take steps backwards when trying to improve your aim. Thanks and hopefully this helps someone.

What you described about accel is what i try to emulate on console so i can feel like (with extra work of course) i can snap onto targets that would require a lot more time on a more relatively flat diagonal curve would let me while keeping the deadzone barely there so it doesnt drift very much so i still have a bit of stability and a sense of smoothness when tracking targets. On mnk you dont have much of this issue to deal with especially how much more well made mouses are compared to controllers that eventually get some form of drift and unwanted input and as a no aim assist player it can help

Oversteer is often not "poor aiming" that comes down to neurology, and most gamers using a mouse are not going to have the innate reflexes to completely mitigate oversteer. The guys who are in the legit top 10% of FPS gamers who use a mouse have a biological advantage. It's not that most people have "bad" aim, it's that a small minority of people have a neurological advantage that they can train to a level most people can't. Getting rid of "oversteer" with mouse acceleration still requires skill because your brain requires the ability to perceive the velocity required to aim from one place to another, you're just offsetting a biological deficiency. And if deaf players can get visualized sounds then offsetting oversteer is a legit thing too.

For one your curve should not be like that for two your running linear i never run that its natural, Power or classic just my opinion. Remember this is all about the curve and when you want your mouse fast if its fast too soon adjust the curve. Also i like 800 dpi rather than 1600dip and lowering your accel use 800 and raise it due to the fact lower dpi tracks better.

@@cowsrcool Your brain gets used to predicting your kinetic movements and the movements of digital objects on screen. It's a calibration thing, some people's reflexes are simply not fast enough to prevent oversteer with a higher more effective sensitivity, that's not a "skill" thing it's a literal neurological thing. The middle 40% of gamers are going to benefit from mouse acceleration because most people don't have the neural reflexes to be a top 10-5% trick shotter. Either way, mouse acceleration in Fortnite is legal and allowed and thus it is only fair for it to be allowed with a mouse, people who hate on mouse users are honestly trash.
