Cav plate a half inch above the bottom since you have a doel fin, if you remove the doel fin make it even with the bottom, right now youre plowing that doel fin, and thats all it is brother, cheers!!!
Honestly not really no, I’m not sure if it’s because I’m in the break in period and I have a 25:1 mix currently but I was also planning on changing the propeller with a higher pitch to see if that helps at all
A piece of ! 1/2'' or 2 '' aluminum square tubing how ever the thickness of transom weld 2'' x 3/16'' aluminum strap each strap needs to be about 10''' long so you can run stainless steel bolts through these straps that are going to be opposite of each other. That's going to be way cheaper than a jack plate.
Well I’d have to know how to weld and own welding equipment and I have neither of those so jack plate it is lol! I found one brand new on Mercari for $58 (they took my offer) and it’s $144 new on Amazon! Didn’t do too bad there I don’t think
Looks like you are trimmed in to far. Trim it out to the 2nd to last hole and try it. I have a 15' aluminum hull and hit 24mph on the stock 8" pitch prop turning 6200 rpm's. I picked up an 11 pitch prop but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. It should pick up s couple of mph and drop the rpm's to around 5500.
The motor was not actually tightened down in the video I realized after I recorded! I keep the motor in my garage when I don’t use it so I threw it on it was actually hanging a little lower than it usually does
Yes too low. Get that cav plate to be even with bottom of hull. youll notice a huge difference. My boy has a 84' Merc 18xd on a 14', was getting 14mph with whale tail. Raised up the motor to make cav plate even with bottom of hull n get 21 mph now and it pops out of the water.
Thanks for the tips! I think I’m going to take the hydrofoil off and put a new prop on with a higher pitch, I just can’t help but feel like the foil is giving me some extra drag! Also after I recorded this video I realized I never even had the motor tightened to the transom so it looked lower than usual
@@BigTonysRipzz Youll get more drag from the cavitation plate being lower than the boat vs the tail. But do some experimenting fo rsure! Let us know how it goes bud
@@VaughnOutdoorsalso I just threw the motor on the boat and didn’t tighten it down so it also looks a little crooked, but I ordered a jack plate and will update this week!
It's a little low but it shouldn't affect it that much I got the short shaft on a 14 36 Jon boat with me 190 lb and my father 240 lb that thing will run about 25 miles an hour
Maybe it’s not performing because of the break in period still and the 25:1 gas oil mix instead of the 50:1 mix I’ll put in after the break in period? Haven’t taken it out since I posted this but I’ll keep troubleshooting!
1436 flatbottom owner here. I stand up with a grab bar and tiller extension using the Hangkai 18 short shaft. I'm sorry but you got the wrong one man, I run my boat super light. I stand almost in the middle of the boat, and battery is in front. I don't have a speedo but I'm too scared to go full throttle standing up. It's scary fast.
