When you said "Vomero 17 with a carbon plate" that is exactly my thoughts before seeing it in person. I really enjoy the Vomero so if it has that little extra pop from the plate would be nice. I have the Zoom Fly 5, and although ai don't hate it, it is certainly lacking in ride and response. A Vomero 17 with a plate would be a great quick trainer with a decent amount of support. A lot of the super trainers I have ran in still feel unstable. This combo sounds solid.
It's great to hear that you're a fan of the Vomero! The addition of a carbon plate could really enhance the experience. It sounds like you're on the right track with your thoughts on what makes a solid trainer.
Ran 5 miles in them yesterday and 17 today with a pretty hard Parkrun. So far, I like them. They’re quite soft, quite responsive and very comfy. So far my only very minor gripe is the laces are too thin and the eyelets are hard plastic making it tricky to get a decent lock down. I’ll swap them if necessary so no big deal. Perfect for everything from easy to intervals to long runs. I also have ASICS Magic Speed 4, the ZF6’s are much better imo. These will defo be in my rotation.
Was initially turned off bc of the Flyplate but it looks extremely flexible (like the speed series plastic plate from saucony) Not a Nike fan, but this could be a competitor for the endorphin speed.
Just bought it this and taken it on a 10 mile run. I’m definitely a Nike loyalist so have the set up now that you suggested (Vomero, ZF6, VF3) and can see this trainer fitting in well for tempo & long runs in half marathon training. Enjoyed watching the review!
Ugh. It looks they fixed the Zoomfly but I wish they didn't bring back the Zoomfly 3 upper. I liked that shoe but the upper was soooooo warm. Especially in summer conditions.
@@WildOutdoorLiving I own ASICS magic speed 4, adidas Takumi sen 10, ASICS Superblast 2, and Nike invincible 3. Strangely enough the SB2 is the shoe I wear the least. Maybe just doesn’t work for me, but I find it’s seriously over rated. I guess that what I get for buying into the internet hype.
Great review as always! But you have forgotten one thing Fordy: The original Nike Zoom Fly and Zoom Fly SP, was the start of the super trainers. It was very good. But then came the Saucony Endorphine Speed 1 (the best shoe ever made) and Nike never seemed to catch up. For one reason they thought super and heavy is the same thing.
Thanks for your input! The Nike Zoom Fly and Zoom Fly SP definitely made waves in the running community, and it's interesting to see how the market has evolved with the emergence of shoes like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 1.
The og zoom fly, zoom fly with flyknit and endorphin speed 1 were some of the best shoes ever. I miss that flyknit zoom fly, ran several marathons in those. And Endo speed 1 got me a 50k pr.
will let you know on the performance review as i said in the video very transparent i am coming back from a marathon so this week mileage was not a usual week
Fordy can you use a orthotic in the Fly 6, Nike shoes have a high arch which means your foot is too high in the shoe? Are you going to review any shoes for orthotic wearers?????
The Peg Turbo NN and this thing are in completely different categories simply due to the massive difference in stack heights. 32mm/22mm Vs. 42mm/34mm. One is approaching racing flat territory w/ the Peg's teeth rattling 22mm forefoot (which quickly packs down during a long run). The other is a legit max stack shoe that violates World Athletics 40mm regulation limit.
Does look like Nike was a tad stingy with the ZoomX on this one. I think, maybe, the Vomero 17 has more ZoomX in the mid sole. Guess that may make sense since V 17 is non plated.
Great question and I look forward to the comparison. I’ve only been running 7 months now and the B12 is my favourite shoe. I have these also with the Nike Vomero 17 which I also love. I use both of these shoes for all types of runs
Is the arch better or worse than that of the AF3, Chris? Any shoe got Kipchoege's touch has the arch sensation or what. I hate his feet. Wait, I hate my feet !!! My Alphafly 3 has about 80km. I've done 2-h long run in it, but i dont think I can race a FM in it because of the arch ...I can feel it...
The arch of the shoe can definitely feel different for everyone! It's important to find what works best for your feet, especially when it comes to long runs or races.
Quite like that colour and decent for time of year, entered raffle for sl evo which I s a deffo non winter colourway sure some Nike haters will slag it. Have this in my basket can’t decide if I need it. Side note wakey thorne park run fordy takeover was a great event today especially for the 0-5kers
You can find the Pro 3 in old colours for around £150 - I think it’s hard to justify super trainers when last years super shoes are cheaper on discount.
@vincewarne228 Fully agree. Except Superblast and Adidas Prime X, the rest of the super trainers are nonsense in my opinion. And maybe Saucony Speed but only if you get it on discount. Its original price makes no sense. Pro 3 so much better shoe.@@vincewarne228
Nike running is lacking behind Adidas and other brands in all ways... They finally decided to catch up in 2024 and start making shoes for ordinary runners. Expecting Zoomfly 6 is much better than 5 as Zoomfly 5is probably one of the worst running shoes I've ever had, at least they remove the suction cup design at the bottom and stop using rubbish... literally...scraped ZoomX foam... Hard to believe a billion dollar company can come up with that idea in midsoles foams.
It's definitely been a wild ride with Nike's running shoes. Let's hope they take feedback seriously and deliver something truly impressive with the Zoomfly 6!
@@FordyRuns It looks like they are going to at least put more effort in non elite runners, briefly tried on the Vomero Plus, they are really good (Superblast level good), looking forward to it.
Never buy a shoe that has it's performance intentionally held back by the manufacturer. Everybody now knows that Nike intentionally turned the Zoom fly series into a dogsh!t shoe so that Nike fans would train and race in Vaporflys.
@@ATREU850 Nike would disagree with you and Nike stockholders would say the performance of the stock over the last several years has been a 'disaster'. Before the CEO resigned last month he conceded (his words) "they underinvested (and innovated) in the running category in favor of lifestyle & basketball". Elliott Hill, the new CEO recently told stock analysts that Nike is diving headfirst into its running “comeback". Nike does not argue that the products (overall & in general) have not served the running community well - that's Nike's view of themselves.
