It's great to see Jokic happy in Denver and talking about shooting for titles, as in multiple. It's sad to see the 4 letter network using dumb headlines, and why not mention what position Jokic and Duncan were drafted when comparing why Jokic has less accolades to his name 7 years in. Duncan didn't have to sit behind Nurkic....

Not fair to compare Jokic's and Duncan's stats from the beginning of their NBA careers. Duncan was a 1st draft pick and got a starting position on the Spurs right away and was fully forced, got full minutes and freedom to be the main guy. Jokic was a second round pick projected to be 2nd or 3rd string center and was not given a chance on the floor right away, took him few years of fighting through and proving himself to finally start getting full minutes and full trust to be the main guy. If you compare their career stats when both started getting full minutes, Jokic is simply much better because of his passing and playmaking ability and stats. And that is not even to mention that Duncan had championship team around him his whole career to help him and take some load and focus off him, while Jokic had to work with either the most injured team every year or with trash team.

@@dewman7477 I literally mentioned in my comment that Duncan's team success like rings and final's MVPs are a product of having multiple hall of fame teammates and best coach ever his whole career. And he is definitely not a better scorer than Jokic, because Jokic can score in every way Duncan could plus in ways Duncan couldn't. Duncan only has defense over Jokic and absolutely nothing else.

And as of now, Duncan is a top 5 player ever being the greatest power forward ever and top 5 defender ever based on his career and first team all defence. Jokic doesn’t even touch Duncan on defence. Duncan has 3 finals mvps and 2 mvps and 5 rings. Jokic only played 7 years of his career so how is he greater than Duncan? We’re not talking about offensive skills here. We’re talking about greatness in terms of nba careers that’s simply it. There are players more skilled on shooting and offence but Duncan makes up for that with top 5 ever defence. Duncan is old school and very unselfish. Stats alone don’t make a player greater it’s also accolades and defence. Duncan > Jokic

@@nine3seven But Duncan still better overall... I seriously hope you're not saying Jokic is better than Duncan. He probably won't even BE better in the future. If he does, then he's a got a LONG way to go because he's barely just started even though it's his 8th year. Duncan is the best PF of all-time and had a legendary career from college. Jokic is great and he's an amazing player and so far he's on his way to the HoF, but he will not win more rings, have more all-nba and all-star appearances and he definitely won't ever make an all-defensive. Jokic will probably wear down faster too by the time he's in his early 30's because of the lack of athleticism. Saying Jokic is better is saying he's a top 10 center of all-time and he's nowhere near that. Especially after only 2 great MVP seasons.

@@PatriceEvra3 it won't be easy but it is possible. He needs to win rings(plural). Not necessarily as much as Timmy but he needs more than one. He also needs to manage his inevitable decline gracefully, like Tim did. Lesser athletes tend have less trouble in this area so I'm not sure your point about limited athleticism holds up. Jokic is not Tim duncan and can't be compared yet. But I don't think he needs to match all of Timmy's counting stats and trophies to get there.
