Anyone considering North Bay should also do a youtube search for North Bay shad flies. Happens every year and definitely something that everyone should be aware of before moving there.

Yes, point nored and thank you for bringing it up. For those interested to know, shad flies invasion lasts about 2 weeks in North Bay and they are actually good for the environment. They are not harmful: northernontario.ctvnews.ca/north-bay-s-famous-shad-flies-have-returned-1.5959091

@@BWImmigration Freaked me out the first year we lived there as a kid, but you get used to them and they are a minor annoyance at most. Completely harmless, but like I said if you aren't aware of them, the first time they arrive will freak you out.

@@BWImmigration I was 7 and they showed up a week after we had moved in. My grampa told me they were just small butterflies. But they never told me they came back each year. I cried the second year when they came back and realized it was going to keep happening. I got over it by year 3, even would go swimming with them all over the water and shoreline. Hehehehe, funny to think back on it all...that was 50 some years ago now.

Do you have any information if North Bay will remain in the rural program?
@BWImmigration
@BWImmigration Месяц назад
@@Bellatomas Minister Miller announced two new programs called the Rural Community Immigration Pilot, and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot, which will both launch in Fall 2024. These are interim programs while they develop RNIP into a permanent program. And North Bay could very well continue to be a part of the program. I don’t see why not. But unless the program is launched, I cannot say for certain.

North Bay isn't the same place as it once was when I was in my youth.... which wasn't that long ago 😅 It's not as safe because of the psych institute closed down; which means many of those who need that type of help end up making a ruckus. Not to mention, the number of people who end up homeless increases by the day. This is only scrapping at the surface. One thing I do hope for is a ferry at Trout Lake because it's more scenic than Lake Nippissing. Like imagine going for a ride during the fall *chefs kiss*

Thank you for taking the time to comment here. I do appreicate it. :) I don't think there is any place in this world that only has positives and absolutely no negatives. Every place including where I currently live has it's set of challenges. I believe it's important to have a broader perspective especially when trying to give people a sense of what a location can offer compared to other locations. There are people going homeless in several other locations, inside and outside Canada, but that hasn't stopped people from considering those places to relocate to. Bottom line, moving to places like Sudbury / North Bay / Thunder Bay is a much better option for newcomers as the cost of living is simply unaffordable for many in bigger cities. But I am hopeful that things will start to look better as interest rates go down and the new government comes in power next year!

North bay and Thunder bay both come under RNIP program? Those are the only 2 areas included in RINP from the Ontario region?
