Actually it is right But there is something that people miss that if the money is given to states by tax collection then whole india will never develop And one more thing during the time of independence most of the industry are located in Bihar ( now most off jharkhand ) and bengal But due to freight equalisation policy all the industry shifted from bihar and bengal to south and at that time bihar and jharkhand was looted for more than 25 yrs after that gov realised that this is not good policy but that was too late If freight equalisation policy never happens then their will be overall devlopment as industry is located in north and port is located in south so overall india can develop You should search about freight equalisation policy then you will know how much this policy exploited bihar jharkhand ( for eg the distances of going from Ayodhya to Lucknow and the distance of going from kashmir to kanyakumari will be same TALKING ABOUT EXPENSES )

Remove Mumbai from Maharashtra and see where Maharashtra stands. Mumbai was built by all Indians, so it makes sense for Maharashtra to contribute more to center but South Indian cities/states are built mostly by locals, so there is a difference. Also, Maharashtrians are culturally more similar to North Indians, whereas we dont have any cultural ties with North Indians. So when these North Indians steal money from us, it hurts more.

Not completely fair, the Madras presidency, Mysore state and to a lesser degree Hyderabad/Travancore inherited large industries that the center invested into, something that did not happen to the same degree in the North. Just count the number of expansions Chennai and Mumbai ports got compared to Kolkata, Mangalore or even Cochin. The historical ports of KA, KL, GJ, AP and OR completely emptied due to the collapse of Myanmar and Freight equalisation. Even today you see concentrations of the coastal communities towards the three major ports Chennai hosting people from KA, KL and AP; Mumbai from KA, MH and GJ and Kolkata OR, BH, and AS. If we were independent in the 1910's, People from the Bengal presidency would be complaining about us the same way. The Union of States = India = Bharat was not created so swiftly as mentioned by the lady within a minute. The British plundered the North more than the South. These states were left to famine and drought and poor. Years of movements, fighting, struggle, and sacrifice got us Independence. Suppose I had 2 children of mine and let's call them B and M. Now I only had enough money to send just one of them to school so I made a decision/policy that benefits M and sent to school. Since B didn't went to school he had to work at home and provide food/resources which were utilised by all 3 of us. Fast forward 20 years, now M has graduated and is earning good amount of salary, while B can't even find a job. Since I'm too old so I'm thinking of writing my will and I divide my will 70:B and 30:M which upsets M as he's more successful in life and has worked very hard. He tells me look at my salary and how hard I've worked to reach here while B just stayed at home and cooked food and washed dishes, which even a housewife could do. How can you give a housewife more share than me who earns 1000 times the amount a housewife can earn.

North and South have different weather conditions. Based on that, the diet of a South Indian person is different than that of a north Indian person. The kinds of crops that South grows are more than enough for its people to sustain their diet. Also, Southern India also has big chunks of fertile land that are amazing for farming. You saying that South only grows rice and coconuts clearly shows that you know very little about South. Also, the food grains that are being imported are not free. They are being purchased. They create a demand for those crops in the north, which in turn pays for the livelihood of farmers in the north. They are doing us no favour by letting us import crops. The same crops could be imported at similar prices from another country by signing a proper trade agreement. Sorry to say brother, but your argument is senseless.

Declaring every state as its own nation (or at least ones with a distinct cultural identity, Hindi-speaking states should probably be one country) and then adopting something like the European Union where the countries are "sovereign nations" yet they come under the union which has common laws and other things like currency and also allowing travel without visa anywhere inside Europe.

Tbh as a Tamil that would be disastereous, we don't have our own army and probably will be more oppressed than ever.

Actually even less it receives ₹2 now and Gujarat gets ₹30, karnataka gets around ₹12 whereas north up get about ₹333, Bihar gets around ₹800, Assam gets around ₹2000. Eastern states eat most of money. They get rupees in 4 digits whereas Gujarat gets it in 2 digits and maharashtra gets it in 1 digit. India needs to get separated into different countries.

One word answer: Freight equalisation policy

Central government policy of Freight equalisation is the reason due to which resource rich landlocked north Indian states became poor and factories from north India move to sea facing and port containing South India states. And that's how wealth gap got widened in last 50-60 years.

Maharashtra gets 7 rs in return for every 100 rs tax paid. We are neither considered as north or south indian state, so maybe it wasn't mentioned.
