What is fun to do there? My girlfriend and I are staying in north port for the week.

Yes, you are correct. We came to Southwest Florida from the northeast about 5 year ago. Sarasota is a beautiful area, but very expensive. Northport is the "outside suburbs" and inland, so it is much less expansive. It used to be very sparse, but the good news is that alot if the commercial areas are newer compared to Port Charlotte to the south that is a bit more run down looking. Unfortunately, the prices in southwest Florida have increased faster than most anywhere in the entire country. It is different than the northeast. Winters are GREAT but summers are warm and long. The styles of homes all feel like vacation homes to us. Also not discussed much is that Florida is VERY conservative. This is solid deep Trump country. The area is very white, Republican and grey hair. We rented a house from Air B&B before buying down here. We like it down here, but I would suggest staying here a bit before making the jump. Also, there is no income tax in Florida.

The economy in north port is booming. There is no shortage of jobs, housing is another story.

@@brandonhillgoth699 I’d say between mid to high 80’s to 90’s. I would best describe it as wet, sticky, and oppressive.😅 But I’m just an electrician in the heat all day, not a meteorologist.🤣

Hey depending on your situation. You could typically do as low as 3% to 3.5% down. If you or your spouse has a military background you can potentially even do a 0% down on certain loans.

We just bought a waterfront lot in Port Charllotte. We will begin building in early 2022.

Many more lots in Port Charlotte are in a flood zone and will cost you more for insurance.

Wife and I just bought a waterfront lot in Port Charlotte. Although it is in a flood zone it is not at flood risk because it is well above the water table. You can also have you're contractor bring in fill to higher elevation. It is expensive but will out weight the insurance premiums. Try area code 33948 and 33953. I've seen plenty. Como street is where we bought. Good luck.

Depends if you value big huge sidewalks, parks, smaller town feel you will probably prefer North Port.

Ha ha yeah a lot of people that are from Sarasota definitely have negative opinions of North Port but it’s all situational. If you’re not someone that can/wants to afford to live in the prime parts of Venice or south Sarasota and don’t mind being a little bit further inland, saving some money, or just simply like being a little bit more spread out with Some more nature around then it could be a great spot. All the development going on over there is happening for a reason so it’s just a matter of time

@@partizanets Overcrowded, horribly HOT, environmental destruction everywhere, polluted waterways, fees for absolutely everything, high crime such as vehicle break ins, home invasions, robbery, etc etc etc

@@spacecadet236 we are thinking to move from Sacramento, California because it's horribly hot and smoky for few months. I was afraid of Florida's humad.
