You're a great youtuber! The only bad thing about oblivion is i took a hearing test before i went to alton towers and after i needed hearing aids beacuse of oblivions lift (edit did you know rita pulls 4.9g's)

definitely my least favourite out of all the ones i went on, but it definitely has its place. its just so great seeing the trains plunge into the darkness with the big whoosh of smoke. (also its pronounced "bolliger (hard g) and mab-i-yard but you arent the only one struggling)

W opinion I agree with you for sure! I like that its short and it definitely set the standard for future dive coasters, it still is one of the best drops out there I think even if its outdated. Its also glass smooth!
Totally agree with all points in this vid! Oblivion walked, so that the likes of Sheikra, Valkyria and Yukon Striker could run. Imo, a dive coaster has 1 job and thats to dive vertically. Blivvy does that to perfection 👌🏿
totally with you on that! oblivion is a one drop wonder but not in a bad way at all, it keeps its momentum the whole way through until the break run and going through a dark tunnel is just bad ass. It's also nice and cool on a summers day!
I honestly think its cooler than the other dives. I think dives are lame. Everyone seems to think their park needs one, but whenever one gets built, people call them boring, bad pacing, they rattled, etc. Oblivion is cool because it drops you underground. It feels like youre plunging to hell. If you're claustrophobic, the fear of darkness outweighs the fear of heights/drop etc. Very cool. 🎉
I would love to try other dives! but I would agree with you on oblivion, its smooth as ice and does exactly what its supposed to and doesn't mess around. It definitely set the bar high as the prototype! :D

I know the american dive coasters are larger and people seem to love them, but my thought whenever the model came to the US was, this was so much cooler at alton towers because it went underground. I think the tunnel novelty is more compelling than the vertical drop. I rods emporer at sea world san diego and while its a good paced ride without a midcourse/second and inferior drop (why is that a thing? U already did the more epic drop.) It just feels like any other b and m looper, and i prefer the floorless models with swooping drops and long layouts. Emporer is the most intense ride in the park but mako, their family mack rides launched coaster, is vastly superior in terms of fun delivery.
As someone who remembers the launch and advertising campaign behind Oblivion, let me reiterate - it was EVERYWHERE. Merchandise, TV adverts, on bus shelters, cereal boxes... It's a world first, is still a very intense ride, and I think Rita is a much bigger lost opportunity than Oblivion. Oblivion knows what it is and does it well.
I agree with you, Rita wasn't even a secret weapon codename, While its launch is still great its just a shame it doesn't do more if you know what I mean but it's not as bad as everyone says it is at all. But the marketing just makes me laugh for oblivion ahahah! :D

I wouldn't say the smiler is intense by any means its just very dizzy. Its nice to look at off ride but I'm not really a fan of it but that's my opinion. But factually it is the most intense ride and has the fastest speed. But the smilers theme is creepy you are 100% right haha!
‘Rita doesn’t do anything with the speed’ except maintain it and stay low to the ground to make you feel like you’re going fast. That is the whole point of the coaster and I feel like you contradict the point in the video where you said oblivion does what it is designed for well. Rita does the exact same, it is designed to be fast and it is. Unlike stealth, you feel like you’re going 60mph for most of the ride
@@iliketrains3546 i think thats a strange point because rita wasn’t a prototype while oblivion is. Rita is nothing special because it doesn’t do anything. The fact its close to the ground but they didnt add any near misses is weird. Its just a very bland coaster for its time and a strange choice in general for the area it was in when it was built. Stealth doesn’t loose speed until the breaks so I think thats also not a good comparison. Stealth is the clear winner for hydraulic coasters in the UK and if you think otherwise thats fine but the majority of people would say thats wrong including me but its an opinion so there is no wrong answer. Rita looses speed after the first helix so I also disagree with that. If you don’t agree with my opinions that’s fine as I don’t agree with yours but just remember that its not fact or anything haha
@@Q4Coasters no I mean that Rita’s layout is designed like it is to make its riders feel the speed, just like rides such as millennium force and formula Rossa. Stealth is far superior but it does lose a lot of speed on the tophat as at the top you are not going 80mph. Rita is going at or near 60mph for most of the banked turns

A few years after the closure of the black hole and before the smiler was announced, I had hoped that Towers would extend Oblivion into that plot either adding a half helix to the left bank pr replacing it with a right one to get track heading towards that area before going into one or two new elements and heading to the break run. But since the smiler? I kinda think leaving as the landmark it is could be the better option.
honestly same but I can't see X Sector without the smiler now! while it might not be my favourite I doubt they would ever remove their record breaker. I think Oblivion as it stands is an AMAZING prototype coaster! :3
