2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle on a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck. Over two decades full-time live-aboard. Summers up rough logger tracks to remote mountain lakes. Winters on isolated Baja beaches. Twenty-four months twenty-four thousand miles around South America. . Usually, we rarely travel more than a hundred miles / 160km a month. Fuel is a very minor part of the budget.
@DB, We participated in an Off-Road Challenge in a Nevada quarry. . A gravel mountain stymied all other vehicles until an old Tatra 6x6. The crew trudged over the top, reversed part-way down. The crew climbed out the moon-roof, stood on that nearly vertical roof... ... and mooned the network cameras... ...then scampered back inside... ... and continued right over the top again.
