When you mentioned you could see the tremors on the monitor it reminded me of a personal experience I had and made me wonder; You see a lot of women hooked up to monitors, have you ever seen a "hot flash" on the monitor? I was hooked up for a chemical stress test one time. Sitting on the side of the gurney all hooked up and waiting for the tech to come back in. I felt the hot flash coming on and wanted to see if it would register so I sat real still, and boy did it make the monitor go nuts... Not with straight up and down spikes but the lines were all wavy and spiraling like the machine was short circuiting... I did the test, and my heart was fine, but I'm telling you that was crazy to watch while I was feeling it... So... Have you ever seen a hot flash on a monitor?

@christiroseify

@@tumblingrosesstudio The tech came back just as it was tapering off, I asked him if he saw it, he told me I must have been moving. But it was my chance to get a glimpse of what was happening to my body during flashes and I was as still as can be... I had some intense hot flashes... there were times I trucked through the house stripping off clothes headed for the shower sure I was going to burst into flames... I never believed in spontaneous combustion until I had hot flashes... Now I can see how it happens.

@@christiroseifyoh wow I'd like to have seen that! Of course it was a "him" if it wete a female goung through it too it would have gotten more attention! You both would have been watching or she have hooked herself up to a monitor too! I know I would have!!😅 Your heart rate definitely goes up during one as your body os trying to cool you off despite what your hormones (or lack of) are trying to do. 😅

@@deborahchasteen3206 Well given his field, it would probably be the normal response as an EKG will do exactly that if you move around while it's hooked up. I didn't really ask the Doc if he had ever seen a hot flash to give men haters another talking point... He wasn't "blaming" me for anything. You are correct, he wasn't there to verify that I was sitting still. And his expertise told him its from patient movement. It wasn't important enough to me to press him on it. I was there to make sure my heart was working correctly not get into a neurological discussion about electric how electric energy passes through the body. Have a good night Deborah, God be with you in the days ahead.

I really appreciate this video. It helped me to understand what may have happened to my elderly father after he underwent back surgery. He went into the surgery coherent, independent, self-sufficient and with a slight tremor from early stages of Parkinson's. But he came out of the surgery with delirium that lasted for weeks, drooling, unable to sit up or walk. This state quickly progressed to full blown Parkinson's and dementia. After surgery, he lost his mind, became an invalid, and was unable to take care of himself. His illness progressed and he died 6 years later. Absolutely heartbreaking to watch this man, my dad, who was more precious than gold, go through such a cruel end of life. I couldn't understand what had happened to him but believed it was related to the trauma surgery and anesthesia had on his body. I just didn't understand precisely how those things affected him. Thank you for providing some explanation.

Same thing, not as dramatic, but noticeable, had the same thing with dementia. He declined every time he had general anesthesia. Towards the end, the doctor wanted to put him under to do surgery to remove a small cancerous polyp on his colon. Since his other conditions were far more likely to end his life than the polyp, as his proxy, I said no! Let him still recognize his family than risk not knowing us.

Very informative, thank you Dr. Kaveh. My older sister has had Parkinson's for at least 5 years. What a terrible disease. She's a remarkable person, retired from a high profile job in education at age 80, and fortunately, she still has a sharp mind, although she's had to slow down. Sis now has to be reliant on others daily, and her situation doesn't allow a large amount of assistance she could benefit from.

I’ve had so many major surgeries in my life, and learned to walk almost a half dozen times. The first was as a boy of 7 in 1959. The nurse (and yes she was probably a RN) put something resembling a kitchen mesh strainer over my face, and dripped something, probably either, on it so I would have to inhale it. She told me to relax and count. It was a nice experience. My next series of surgeries were age 30, 1982. I had difficulty waking because I needed to clear my throat, and when I tried, my muscle control wasn’t returned yet, so I just panicked when I clogged my airway. But it was only a matter of seconds before I regained control and strength and I was ok. But I was alone, which I thought was uncool. My surgeries since then have been remarkably good, like waking up from a nap.

Doc, spoon theory as referenced by Spoonless Valkyrie (great name) is an explanatory tool used by people with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and/or Fibromyalgia. We explain to others that we have only so many 'spoons' of energy we can use each day. We have to choose and be careful how many spoons we use in a day. Sometimes we can borrow spoons from the next day if we rest more the next day. If you run out of spoons you crash and go into PEM (post exertional malaise). If you use too many spoons too often you can permanently worsen your condition (go from moderate to severe for example).

Why would a 73-year-old woman require stroking her un-operated thigh once to get it to operate for the first time a few days after surgery? Both of her legs were paralyzed for a few days. She reported that single stroke seemed to reactivate her brain’s connection to her thigh so she could move her leg at will.

I couldn't even stand up for more than 5-10 minutes without projectile vomiting, falling down, getting the spins, my skin and hair had issues, and i was even having accidents. I had a neurologist tell me without an exam or tests that the only thing wrong with me was depression and anxiety. Im in my thirties, I can say 100% anxiety didn't make me wear diapers. I told them i believed that the treatment or the medicine maybe the stress caused my autoimmune problems to go haywire. No one would listen. I still am significantly impaired, tachycardia when standing, sweating buckets, swelling throughout my body and my multinodular thyroid and lymph nodes that were already enlarged are getting more and more painful. Years later tachycardia, then a stroke which she thankfully fully recovered from. Review your meds, get a full thyroid panel. Get your vitamins and trace minerals checked. Prayers of recovery to you. Keep searching. An Endocrinologist or a holistic integrative medical doctor should be able to check your thyroid and adrenal glands. You may have magnesium and other mineral deficiencies.

I've been told on numerous occasions that while under anesthesia my heart rate fluctuates drastically from high to low and my blood pressure does the same, they always mention it but that's it. I'm curious to what might be going on.

I'm hoping and praying a certain someone does not have Parkinson's. A doctor on tv who did not visit him, said he didn't need to to see him to know that he has it. His doctor just came out and said that he doesn't have it. I'm so sick of thinking about all of this and feeling terrified. We need him to be well. The supreme court has turned me into a complete wreck.
