Is Pay-to-Win Ruining Roblox? 

i think having an option to gamble through paying robux - especially if you're gambling for Pay To Win items - is often very manipulative and not good to have in Roblox games

I wish more people followed through with the “boycott BIG Games” Also, this is why I only play games that can’t sell pay to win games, where even if you buy better things you don’t get an advantage. A good example of this is Bloxburg as there is no pvp element.

My opinion is that The gamepasses are not meant to be for late game, its like for a starting kit for starting players and doesn't effect people that spend hours grinding.

As a small developer who has made a good amount of money from roblox without using pay to win, I think that developers have plenty of options to make money without requiring users to pay to win. I mostly do stuff similar to MM2, by making you most likely have to pay in order to get different skins and effects. A regular player with a starting item could beat up someone with a paid for item. I think that most other developers that use p2w should make the switch to "pay to customize". Basically, you pay for stuff that customizes different parts of the game. Simple, and as shown in the fortnite example in the video, it still works really well.

Pay to win works best in team games like Break In, because you're paying for the team to win. But in competitive games it ruins the fun.

I think that servers which have p2w items that affect gameplay should give people an option if they want to go to servers in which people buy the in game stuff or servers in which people don't p2w. There could be a thing where the game tracks your robux spent in it, to make this work better. An example can be, if I were to join blade ball, there would be a popup asking me if I want to go to a p2w server or a server in which people don't p2w. Or it puts me in the server automatically, or something.

I feel like loot boxes are never going to be gone from Roblox, but I feel there should be a rule where lootboxes have to have a thing where a certain item is guaranteed in a certain number of draws. Example, infinity ability from blade ball being guaranteed to be given to you within 30 spins

And the biggest reason is: roblox REALLY favors games which generate a lot of revenue, so the developers are forced to have p2w in their games, or else the game will not get any players

Well if it works like that just make games that can allow the devs to do weekly updates that the game doesn’t target kids for their player base but actual 13-18 yrs old players to keep their player base active with actual gameplay and stuff unlike simulators, Deepwoken is a example of an actual fun Roblox game that provide weekly update. even if it cost money to play but it’s just cosmetic or more slots to create ur character

Yup! You really did a great job explaining that Kreek, and I soooo agree with ya! Developers should come up with a different way to get money, than to make pay-to-win games, cause they need to get some robux somehow, but this is not the way to do it! Idk how to do it though cause I'm not a developer, but I wish I knew, then I'd let them know lol.

Roblox is already pretty P2W with its mechanic, now just imagine if EA owned the game.

There is also robux items outside of cosmetics and PTW's. If you played VoxlBlade or simular games, you have 3 character slots to choose one and with robux, you get 2 additional slots. It's not a cosmetic because it doesn't effect visual aspects of the game and it's not a PTW because you it's just adding two function. Although there is a PTW aspect when it comes to unlocking the 4 races in VoxlBlade, the price is on the reasonable side of things.

For me as a f2p player in Pet sim, i quitted it since i got bad pets, updates release weeks after weeks and i just can't keep up with the new worlds

The devs nowadays only think about what will give the money not what will keep the player wanting more that's why most games updates are just repeats and it's frankly sad

The thing that is bad about Robux is that people are PTW with them and sometimes don’t think about what they are buying and how it affects others. I mean if it is a story game or a game that isn't competitive like Total Roblox Drama or Break in, it can be okay. But competitive games like Blade ball or Pet simulator, it is just ruining the game. It also is annoying when somebody flexes something they got from buying it like a Sword in Blade Ball. Here is a way they can fix this though. 1. By changes some games and making stuff cheaper. If they change this then it can change the Roblox system and make people happy.

Kreek is one point with this video. The reason I leave almost any game is because I am still far from the end. Props to blox fruits because they added an update which is accessible for all veteran and new players

With anything there's an exception. Bee swarm simulator I'd say is one of those games where you can't pay to get to the end because it takes literal weeks or months to get one item. Money will not get you there. Which is why I think it hasn't died yet, anyone can play it at anytime and pick it up within a couple of minutes.

@KreekCraft me and some of my friends are working on a game rn. We are going to add kit like characters for robux some would be free with free battle passes But we want to make it fair for p2ws and f2ps so they have the same pace in Lvling up in the game. Aaaand when it comes out will you play it?

I think this is an absolute YES. Back in the day there used to be no micro transactions and only gamepasses. But nowadays there has to be atleast 200 in one game. You get the point. But there are still some good games out there. As a f2p i have been playing money simulator x which is a mega simulator project that has close to no p2w.

Exactly, we developers dont earn any money from normal players playing our game. We have to sell gamepasses etc to even get back the money we spent on developing the game, let alone make profit. For bigger games this works alright but especially small developers struggle. Prices of gamepasses often have to be high as you only get 70% of the revenue and if your plan is to dev-ex well gl... conversion rate is bad and you lose alot of money to roblox again so gamepasses do have to be priced higher. Many people just wont play these small games then cuz they are too "expensive"...

The first thing I thought about blade ball when I started playing it was "this game is pay to win". And I don't really find that fair because rich people can win easily meanwhile players either not allowed to buy robux or don't have enough to pay for robux very often cant make progress. Also everything in that game is overpriced, so beginners won't have a good time starting it.

I'd also like to point out games that do a good job at getting payment (robux) while also appealing to mostly players with no robux. Example, Evade. I've been playing evade for a long time now and it's apparent that you don't have to pay robux to have fun. Most of the robux that the creators earn is through donations that are advertised through the game and avatar items that players can buy for their avatars. I've seen so many people have fun playing it without paying anything, and at the same time the creators get decent payment.

tbh something that might help this is that all the money goes to roblox, then from the joins or something, the developers could get paid by the players joining the game, meanwhile roblox is still making money. But I’m some minor laying in bed. What do I know? 😂

in my opinion, selling gamepasses for robux is not so bad but u have to make it available for other people too so they can also get the gampasses after some point, completing quests or from in game currency. but games like bloxfruits though give most of items free but having fruit notifier, darkblade, 2x money, exp ,perm fruits, + fruit storage gives a huge advantage to pay to win players while free to play players have a hard time. I mean u can have gamepasses but there must be a way to get the gamepasses for free to play players.

The thing i dont like - how simulator games just straight up started to be like arm wrestling sim. I remember when alot of the simulator games were original, had original mechanics.

I dont think is ruining Roblox pay to win. Its ok when games add certain passes that make you better or give a bit of advantage but there is a limit to that. Some games add to much payable things.

I think kreek does a good job of explaining this. The reason most games are p2w is to make money to fund the game and also just make profit of it. So the reason why there are more p2w games are because many devs and dev groups are struggling to find other ways to make money.

bee swarm is like the one and only exception i can think of because the game isnt just a brain dead clicking simulator and you require more than just buying the rarest eggs in order to have a good hive. paying to win doesn’t exist in that game because you need balance.

This pay to win isn't only happening to Roblox, it has been happening in Minecraft also for quite a while. Minecoins in MineCraft cost real money, and you can't get them any other way. People spent real life money for something they don't really need for Avatars in Minecraft, to me Avatar's don't really matter anywhere. I don't pay any other money then the money you spend when you download Minecraft. A lot of people use pay to wins to act all cool, when actually, everybody is unique in their own way. I think pay to wins are not very necessary but if somebody's happy, I guess they can buy.

Honestly devs should take advice from natural disasters survival like u can use a little robux and u would only a get slight advantage so a free to pay players and p2w has almost the same odds of winning.

Kinda off topic but I have a theory: Ok a theory is that maybe the titans got upgraded and had a self healing structure and need energy from the agents and they are already almost done healing and titan tvman can help to heal aswell what if the titans self heal with titans next to them and alive and the more Skibidi toilets die the faster the titans heal and with tvman they should be almost done that’s why the cameras went into a rage to just heal the titans and everyone just started to attack I think that’s why titan cameraman got his shield regenerated from the acid hitting it if you see closely the shield went out for a second and came back why? Because the guy was getting beaten up by speakerman or maybe in the background toilets were getting beaten up by the normal agents ik it’s long but worth it to read

Well for the spin wheel in blade ball, it is not entirely ptw. I got rapture on like my 4th try without spending any robux. But yes it is still hard to get.

i think all games that sell these pay to win items, should make it so you can get them free to play. now they may lose money, but the amount of people coming back to the game will be alot and the devs can make the same money, or possibly more money depending on how many players are playing

I find it stupid that games like Pet Simulator X and Blade Ball and all the games where you can spend Robux for a CHANCE to get something good are allowed on Roblox. It's literally written in the rules of making Roblox games that you can't include Robux gambling in your game, but when Roblox doesn't do anything about games that obviously and blatantly include that stuff, it's just hypocritical and sets a bad example for other games and developers. It's like the rules don't even matter anymore and it's just kind of sad to see.

This is why Piggy blew up. There was not a single purchase that would give you an edge over others, and when a new update came out, it was immediatly accessible to everyone.

Bedwars finds a smart way to combat this. It has a battlepass (which has a p2w element ofc) but also there's a free battlepass awarding free kits and kill effects to f2p players. Kit rental passes, and free kits of the week let you use kits you don't own.

I think the strongest battlegrounds is another example of a not so p2w game because atleast for the early access it will eventually become free and the rest are pretty much cosmetics that aren’t p2w game passes
