Modern gangs are really just tribes. Each crip gang is a TRIBE. Read the history of tribes all over the world, you notice that a gang and a tribe are functionally the same thing. The man in a tribe is a leader of some sort, a warrior, a hunter, a provider, and a reproducer. The boy in a gang subconsciously tries to fulfill those same exact roles, but in a dilapidated urban setting. The gang members you interview aren't dumb at all - many of them are bright - but their whole psyche has been engineered since childhood to operate in a tribal manner rather than a more normal, civil manner. From a gang perspective, they're doing well for themselves. From a civilized perspective, they're ruining their lives.

Alonzo, you might want to hit up some of your contacts in the California State jails. An inside source who works at one of these jails has told me that since inmates (shotcallers) of all races have been released from the Shu in Pelican Bay (courts declared it inhumane) that they have ordered all their soldiers to get along so that they will not have to return to the Shu. For the first time in a long time (if ever) Southsiders, Northerners, Blacks and Whites are playing basketball and handball with each other with no drama.

streefgangs i commend you for doing what you do. Using the area of entertainment to speak to black males and females who have, thanks to the white supremacists been born into "gang banging" whenever i watch these vids it sickens me BUT, i also have to realize that these videos are important for us to look at in regards to history. makes a brother angry to see other black males do this.
