Is Peel and Stick Floor Tile Waterproof? 

I've used stick on tiles for 20 yrs, there ok , the only problems I've had is standing water, from a leak or spill not cleaned up in a reasonable amout of time, you can mop the flooring as well as any other , when my children were young they splashed a lot of water on the flooring , we just wiped it up with a towel ,20 years later same floor ,same tiles no visible damage, tough we are tired of the design and wat to update our bathroom,. We used them in the kitchen also ,last year we had to replace the tile, we were gone from home for a few hours when a water line connection failed, we came home to water covering the entire kitchen floor , so much so we had to wet vac it up, we got the water up and the floor dried quick enough that we saved the luan, but many of the tiles were detaching slowly from the floor, and we had to replace the entire floor. and again we did with stick on tiles, no regrets easy job, thats been my experience , just a tip buy a few extra ones if one gets scuffed real bad or in our case a hot frying pan was dropped on them , you can use a heat gun, or even a hot iron over a thick towel to heat the glue under the tile to pry up the old tile and replace it and make the floor look like new again . You can't do that a linoleum one piece covering.

These tiles will come up real easy in a flood situation. They are not at all waterproof. Any standing water will INDEED seep in the seams and under the tile. So you dont get the floor real wet. Damp mop like anywhere else and its fine. But any standing water will get in, under and lift those right up. I had them in my laundry room and they are quite robust. But we had a flood and those came up without any effort at all and under them was a sheet of water. No flooring is waterproof unless its sheet vinyl with no seams or real tile with mortar and no open seams/grout.

I saw vinyl tile in an RV shower stall. It was stuck all around the walls vertically as well as the floor. This is a small van type RV where a couple lives in it full time. So it does get some use, but only 2 people and probably used every other day. I am assuming from another comment below, that this was not a smart thing to do. The shower stall looked very nice like slate tiles, but I was questioning that constant water exposure and possible mold issues + damage to sub floor.

Good video but if you have dogs and you work, sometimes they can have an accident that stays for a couple hours. :(

Need advise. I am thinking of getting these tiles for my kitchen, My floorboards I have are in great condition. My question is... Does it make a BIG difference If I lay the tiles on 3 or 4 mm HARDWOOD ? Or do I HAVE to lay them on PLY ? Reason I ask is I have been told THEY WILL BUBBLE if I lay them on hardwood.. ;-) GREAT CHANNEL by the way ;-)

Would it be a good idea to install peel and stick tile under my kitchen sink and caulk the seams and borders? I want to prevent damage under my cabinets if there is a leak. My Dad said water would get underneath and make the situation worse.

I have groutable laminate floor tiles. Can I use them in my shower if I use an additional adhesive and use grout between the tiles as well?
