Enormous food tour! With only a few days in Phuket we knew we wanted to see see as much as possible, understand why Phuket has become this food mecca in Thailand and obviously taste as much as possible. Visiting the Phuket Old Town Market seemed like a good start.
Thai food is so much more than Pad Thai and A Chefs Tour showed us that's not always the best food option either, depending on your taste of course - Chinese, Malay and Burmese food influence the food of Thailand and Phuket so much, so in this vlog we spend 5 hours learning and tasting it all!
Safe to say there was enough food to last 4 and a half days worth of eating haha.

The funniest part was the policeman sitting to the left of the frame, I was being cautious and trying not to film him much but we locked eyes and laughed for like 2 minutes straight. He found it so funny.

Great vid as always ;)) the sticky rice and banana inside that you had it’s purple becuase of it’s the color of rice. In thai we call this type of rice as “ข้าวก่ำ or ข้าวเหนียวดำ or black sticky rice” it is a natural color.

I did the same tour a couple of weeks back. Pima was fantastic but be prepared to get grief when you can’t eat anymore! I’m looking forward to going back and doing another tour with Pima

Another wicked food tour! Always enjoy what you guys find on your plate.What's the weirdest thing you've ever come across? Here in Cambodia it's those creepy crawlies which seem to be available everywhere. Love all the fruit which is edible all read round. Plenty of soy which keeps me happy👍👍

Fish intestines is definitely the weirdest thing of late that I actually ate - then the weird bugs and insects are all over the place in Bangkok as well, Khao San road mostly haha

Always great 👍. Please tell me what FPS u shoot in for typical walking talking. I’m guessing 24 But maybe 30. And r u shooting in anything other than 60 FPS for your slow motion. Thanks guys👊👊👍

We shoot almost everything in 60 or 50 FPS and export in the same frame rate, we like the crispy 'there in person' kind of feel rather than the cinematic look of 24/30. Some slow mo is shot in 120 or 100 FPS.

Daneger and Stacey thanks 1080 at 60 FPS and you narrate over others 60 FPS with some sound. It works. So nothing in 4 k correct?

Yup that's right. We don't shoot anything in 4k or 10bit either. The GH5 does a good enough job at 1080, 8bit, 60/50 FPS.

5 hours is a long time! Lucky theres walking around though, you sort of get a bit of a walking tour at the same time and can burn off some of the meals haha

Thank you. I did this same tour in January and loved it. It almost looked like a different tour in your video apart from Pema as almost all of the restaurants were different. Perhaps a sign that I need to do the tour again on my next Phuket trip.

Apparently, according to the internets the purple colour comes from the dark unpolished bran from the rice that leaches into the white part of the rice. You can buy it by the bag to make it at home but I don't think you will 😀

No, it’s not color from bran. Rices themselves have so many colors, not just white which is the most popular. There are red, brown, purple, black (completely back not kidding) and many shade of white. They maybe more colors than what I mention here. The colors to told you are colors I saw myself. I am Thai but not a rice farmer so I don’t know all the colors rice can be. Here is one example of rice that is not white. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riceberry

Hey guys! great video, I love your content, especially your Thailand series. I was wondering, how did you stumble across the tour? I'm planning a trip to Thailand but I only have a couple of weeks off from work so I want to experience as much as I can in the time I have to visit. Do you recommend that type of local tours? What would be the best way to cram places and experiences during my trip? anyway, thanks a lot! :)

Definitely consider taking a tour with these guys. Much more than food, you get the history, walk a good distance, see lots of the city and have an asesome day out

Thanks! Check out the Google Translate app, its got an image section on it that translates... BUT, from last time I checked they didn't have Thai in there yet. Honestly the majority of places you visit will have English menus, tours can show you local spots, the remaining 5% places you can just wing it for the experience

That sounds awesome - we went with 'A Chefs Tour' just look them up and you should be able to find the same tour. Make sure you go with an empty stomach because this tour is long!

Depends on your preferred tastes really, Phuket was more eye opening and educational with the various other cultures. Bangkok was probably tastier in our books.

That was pretty amazing guys - so much variety on offer. Authentic locations too so this was a classic D & S vlog :) We love the vermicelli noodles and nowhere better than the fabulous Bar B Q Chinese restaurant on Park Street in Kolkata. Fortunately we have an excellent take away near us at home whose Singapore Fried Noodles are delicious too!
