Agreed. Disappointment and frustration are only caused by unfulfilled expectations. And Plarium is really, really poor at setting expectations. Players want to know what is going to happen so they can plan accordingly, but when no plan is laid out (or incompletely laid out, e.g. every fusion) players are left to invent their own expectations which invariably Plarium doesn't meet. If the only thing Plarium did was to tell us what they were going to do in advance, they'd be a much, much better developer. "Nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying" - Joker, The Dark Knight Rises.

I quit raid a few weeks ago after years of playing. There are too many champs, so it gets even harder to get the champs you need. That and so many small things like crappy market, energy cap at 130, doing Arena to get bonuses for PvE content etc.

Agree with all the points made here. At some point we are going to have to blame ourselves for continuing to support a company we feel is bad.

I would say the devs who make the game are not a problem, it's how the game directors and publishers that are the problem.

It's important to remember that Plarium is not a game developer first. Their parent company, Aristocrat, is a gambling machine developer. And they have applied the principles they've learned well.

I can't prove it, but I think they use every exploitive practice in the book to get players to spend money. They target the behaviors of gambling addiction, obsessive compulsive disorders and addictive personality traits. WHY DID RU-vid ADD A SLEEP TIMER?!? it's where playback speed WAS, so I keep selecting it by reflex.

Im a huge ARPG fan and decided to start Raid a few months ago from getting roped into it from a co-worker, never thinking id enjoy it. Never been one to enjoy gotcha games. Now im addicted to it's potential. Plarium suffers from not having any good competition. If there was any other simular alternative then the cold food weve been served for years then they'd be forced to change for their wallets.

Raid is easily the worst mobile game I've played. The amount of time you need to play is horrible and the way they schedule events is purposely made to screw over players. I'd literally have double or triple the champions if events lined up properly and not right after each other.

I mean if you want to stay in the top, yeah you need to play non stop, but if you're just playing for CB, CvC, and to stay in Gold arena you really don't need to be on all the time. Most fusions and fragments aren't even worth it in the long run.

Great vid. The one thing I disagree with is viewing plarium solely as an entity. Thats kind of a cop out. Companies are not individuals. They are made up of individuals. Companies dont get reputations like this while having nothing but a bunch of Care Bears working there making well intended decisions. There are clearly some individuals working for plarium that severely lack any form of business and personal ethics.

It took them three years to implement BASIC filtering for champions and gear. The game should not have launched without filtering. Development wise it is extremely low hanging fruit for anything with a database. Over the years there has been a lot of examples of missteps, bad design choices, and decisions. I did not write them down but any long time player knows they have happened. Like really obvious mistakes. My opinion of them being a bad developer is really rooted in game design choices and turn around time to make obvious win/win changes so it is good to hear a more "average" user reason list. Honestly I must say they have a relatively low bug rate. Which based on their responses regarding their code and being asked about changes I am surprised since I always imagined it was spaghetti code. I mean when they say something would be complicated when I know it should be simple my mind immediately always goes to "it must be written like shit".

Plarium created an eco system that forces you to save every resource for use at an optimum time, then use the fact that players are hoarding resources as the excuse to not increase the resource acquisition in the game. They actively try to force spending on Masteries by refusing to update minotaur. I am 1000% convinced that the only reason we got something as simple as a champion filter in the game was because Watcher of Realms and Dragonheir came out and were actually successful. Look at the Market and the Token Trader for examples of them not wanting to give players any actually useful things in the game. They not only didnt fix the Trunda meta in Hydra 18 months ago, they actively encouraged it by saying that the team was "difficult to build and the champions required were rare" and that Trunda only really shines in Hydra so they wanted to keep her useful there. That was until the comp stopped making them as much money, but only after they ran a couple last ditch 15x to milk the last bit they could (also refer to the brogni 15xs when cadaver teams were usable, and the whole Urogrim debacle when he released). Taunt was "working as intended" until it wasnt as profitable. Entire champions were negated, that they built with that meta in mind, and then claimed that same meta was outside of the scope of their planning. It is not just aggressive. It is actively predatory, manipulative and abusive. They are the patron saint that used car salesman pray to and we are the fodder that they prey on. TL;DR Fuck Plarium.

As a developer(~17 years), I can clearly see a bunch of mismanagement at Plarium, which directly impacts the dev team and snowballs the rest of the workflow. An example of that is events, they are completely random, when I started to play we could preview when 2x, 10x, or guarantee events are gonna happen, another example is rebalance. It only occurs when it sort of affects the community's humor, not by a roadmap, like other TI companies. Looking at the new champions they added this year, I can almost say for certain their kits are AI-generated, by the way, they are trying to release an Armanz-killer. I stopped playing in 2022(hydra release I guess), then I came back a month ago and the game is still quite the same. I mean, if you look at Cursed City, it's almost a Doom tower expanded horizontally. Siege seems like a bunch of placeholders where players have all the hard work. A mid-dev team can implement hard mode dungeons as well on 2 sprints, in which all the heavy work relies on art design, which at least for me, is the best part of RSL. Discord and community interaction are a joke, great part of news came from social media posts or the calendar on plarium play. Sorry for the wall of text and lack of conciseness, it's late here in Brazil.

Correction to the intro of your video, Raid in no shape or form had an impact in the mainstream popularity of Gacha games. That right belongs to Fate Grand Order (2015) and Genshin Impact (2020) being two of the most successful, popular and record breaking gacha games to release (you must have Ignored or not known about these two). Raid is just a joke next to them (honestly Raid is a joke next to many Gacha) that most people know from memes from all the advertising that was being done. In my opinion Raid it definitely one of the worst if not the worst Gacha game I've played in may ways (I've played many since 2013) with the visuals being the only redeeming qualities when it released.

your basis of this information is quite......stupid. You just looked up a wiki page on the highest grossing mobile games and made a blanket statement over it. The fact of the matter is, Raid is still a billion dollar game, as seen on that same page you looked at to make this statement. You know what game is also on that list? Fortnite. Guess where Fortnite is on that list? 42nd. So by your logic, Fortnite "in no shape or form had an impact in the mainstream popularity of battle royale games". See how stupid I sound? I don't think you know what "mainstream popularity" means. It's not about who can make the most money, it's about being RECOGNIZEABLE to a wide audience. Compared to the games you mentioned, Raid is known by basically everyone due to widely aggressive marketing. Ain't nobody heard of Fate Grand Order, nor has anybody even seen an ad for it. I've been on this platform for over a decade and never once seen an ad or video of that game. I'm just now hearing of its existence. I've actually never even seen it in the app store. Genshin is more known, but it doesn't touch Raid in this category either. You don't become popular due to earnings, you gain that from marketing, something Raid is meme'd over because they spend so much money on it. There's a reason there is no meme for Genshin or FGC, it's because they don't exist. We don't see ads for those games at every turn, on every social media website. Name any YT'er, guarantee you'll find them doing a Raid ad somewhere in their library. That's what mainstream popularity is, the reach it has on communities. It has nothing to do with amount their players have spent on it.
@WutTheDeuceGaming
@WutTheDeuceGaming 2 часа назад
I also forgot to mention, there are two puzzle RPGs that have earned more than FGC and Genshin Impact, that were released before them. This further proves my point, why? WE'VE BOTH NEVER HEARD OF THEM, meaning, no impact on mainstream popularity cuz again..........dollars do NOT equal popularity.
@TheDarkVyers
@TheDarkVyers Час назад
@@WutTheDeuceGaming Guess you didn't read the part where I said two of, not the only or the most. I also mentioned recording breaking and popularity, not just how much money they made. The two games you're talking about are Puzzle & Dragons and Monster Strike. I'm sure if you look around social media and forums, almost no one talks about those, yet Fate and Genshin are constantly being talked about. They've become so popular that they also have other media (anime, games, manga, novels) and merchandise for those two games. Can't say that for the others, including Raid.

In absolute terms Platinum is a terrible developer. In relative terms, all the MMO developers make micro-transactions, shops with a bit of game attached. No one is making good games. It's all parasitic, players in abusive relationships. Bear in mind it's the krakens/whales that facilitate developers to act like this.

We need to realize that corporations are not people. An AI system can and will run corporations like Plarium and their parent companies with just as much concern for the well being of their players as the developers and executives in charge there now. If they could find some algorithm, psychological theorem, or program that would allow every player on Plarium Play to automatically fork over every cent in their life savings (even if it meant they could not feed or house themselves or pay their medical bills) it would be done in a heartbeat...because that is the capitalist imperative. This dynamic is only going to get worse and worse as AI and understandings of how to manipulate human psychology advance.

Mad Capper is right! Move to somewhere that actually exists. Plarium is a good art department with fairly good programmers. The marketing dept, management, and accountants are the problem. Similar to all monetarily successful companies. The creativity of the programming team ends up hamppered by management and accountants lead to the lack of creativity being pushed out into the game. Creativity in a digital asset costs time, money, and people who cost both. Management and accountants are inherrently risk adverse, and will lean on their "formula" as thats what made them succesful instead of testing something out that could hinder the game.

lol man I love your content….but I would have to disagree with you about the bugs. Almost every single fusion they have done in the past year and a half have been bugged. Examples of this is the rabbit with his passive, emic with his sheild growth, gnut with how his A3 destroyed def to fast just to name a few. Then also the red dot that should be cake to get rid of but they seem they can’t get right. Then characters dying during PVP and PVE stay in the up right position and still move like there in the fight but no health bar. Also the AI is super screwed up in hydra and in pve were ally attack for some reason attack heads or champs that have block damage or unkillable on them even tho there’s better options while your running auto lol. And the glitch that happened awhile back were people were pulling extra copy’s of Ronda out of shards and when raid caught wind of this they removed all the extra Ronda’s from these peoples accounts and gave them a “ compensation pack” .

But well, Plarium can behave in such manner is because players are the one that allow them to. Plarium are spoiled to the core, because they know that no matter what they do, how much players complaints, and how many ppl leave the game, they can still get the $$$ they wanted and desired. honestly, they dont even bother much about f2p players, because they bring no benefit to them

Plarium is just a subsidiary of a literal slot machine manufacture. The only good games are older at this point, everything is so toxic and such a money squeeze. The way games like Raid work, they continually add systems to chase with your money, but they often have poor core gameplay loops. Just look at summoners war, a fun gameplay loop, real time arena is great in that game, and you can actually do everything free to play all the time, the events, rewards ect. are all geared to the F2P player and they are awesome and fun. Plarium is notoriously "cheap" with in game rewards, which they have to be because the core gameplay sucks so bad that the only hook they have is gambling.

I disagree with you on one thing in this vid, the forge pass is a good deal. The amount of gear you get is extensive and the amount of energy I would have to spend to farm the equivalent amount of gear is insane. Now I do hate that you can’t guarantee at least one substat with those stupid charms, but overall it’s a pretty decent deal compared to other similarly priced items in their shop. Need more vids like this!

I guess that's kinda like saying that a 15 dollar big mac is a great value compared to an 80 dollar fillet mignon. I mean everything is relative. If Plarium has already gotten people to accept their ridiculous price structuring as the norm then sure, forge pass might seem like a good value.
