Farhaan Khan but its easier to build wall footing than plinth beam. Plinth beams gives even settlement than wall footing.

@@silentwatcher1455 it's not about easy or difficult..It's about economy..Footing will cost higher then plinth beam and the added advantages of plinth beam makes it preferable for engineers

Farhaan can we build masonry wall directly on footing without this plinth beam?

gowtham varadareddy as he already said “ plinth beam indirectly adds to the bearing capacity of the soil “ as it is placed right above the ground level therefore in case of soil not able to withstand the load of super structure the plinth beam comes handy. Imagine a plinth beam as of a tire of a tank which distributes its massive load evenly and over a large area of a soil and therefore never gets stuck or sink into the soft soil. Similarly plinth beam prevents the structure to sink into the low bearing capacity soil by distributing the load over a wider area. Since it’s a part of a structure and not of a soil obviously ; therefore he used the term “indirectly”. Thank you.
