Ange has stuck to and perfected his formula for nearly 20 years.. at each new club he gets them ready faster and faster.. Ange is a winner every where he goes.. EVERYWHERE..
ange is the best man i have ever seen speaking with fans and media on football world. super stoic, humble and ambitious. for me he's the right man with no doubts.
the right man for speaking to people or to manage spurs? He is nearly 60 years old, if he was that good as a manager, why has he always managed micky mouse clubs?
@@RogerEriksen-l6h you know nothing about football, mate. these eurocentric way of thinking about relevance of conquers have diminished your capacity to think to embarassing levels.
@@grahammerry7031 well mate, say that he only managed mickey mouse cubs is a atrocious statement, that is only done cause of his eurocentric way of seeing the sport. ange was successful on australia, japan, scotland and international football in very different scenarios. adored in every place he has managed, but not just that, he arrived at the premier league with the best start on 10 games a manager have ever had, and is having a very solid first season at tottenham. how many managers on england today have worked so hard to earn their places?? i am not belittling him, but arteta literally got his first ever job at a big 6 club. the mate is highly connected with the club culture and the supporters. and if you want to talk about high reputation managers that managed tottenham in the last years, antonio conte and josé mourinho, they did not solve anything. that is why this mate knows nothing about football, and barely anyone that uses the term "mickey mouse clubs" do, because is just a pathetic way of belittle foreign football.
Lets not forget Spurs lost Harry Kane at the very end of the transfer window and didnt replace him. A brand new GK and the majority of new signings had no Premier League experience, and a manager who previous to this had only managed in Scotland, Japan, Australia and Greece. He has done wonders IMO
Don't be arrogant in your comments. Everywhere he has gone, he has won silverware. Just because he now working in England does not matter? Your league has far more money than any league in the world. Alex Ferguson, Arsène Wenger are 2 of the most successful managers in Premier league history. Both where succesful before coming to England. It is down to their mentality and philosophy. In my opinion Angecis cut with the same cloth. He will be a massive success in England no matter if it is Spurs or elsewhere. He is a born winner.
Been a Spurs fan since 1981, Ange hasn't got the full team assembled yet, a few more quality player's and lets see what the team is made of next season and fans complaining about the style of play, I love attacking rather than park the bus football
Beat you by 5 yrs ....1976 I was 16 yrs old and brought up as an arsenal supporter by my father who I was so close to ...I had to tell him I've changed to SPURS ...I ALSO WENT TO HIGHBURY GROVE school...my sportsmaster was CLIFF JONES ...IMAGINE THAT 😂😂😂
I'm an Arsenal fan, I watched Spurs play Everton a few weeks back and I don't think I've been so impressed in a while by a performance as I was with Van De Ven. He was everywhere. His reading of the game was incredible. HIs recovery pace was incredible. He gave no one a sniff. Yes, it was Everton, but his all round game was absolutely there. If he keeps improving he'll be one of the three best defenders in the league, easily.
A wider context is that the league is WAY more competitive than at the start of Klopp or even Arteta. That he is so ahead of them after 26 games is remarkable.
Or maybe apply context and realise that every situation is different. E.g. Arteta had a way worse team, took over his 1st job during covid and wasn't given money until he cleared the squad and cut the wage bill. This is such a basic argument that Klopp and Arteta took a while so other managers will take a while. Not all managers are Arteta and Klopp. So now we see people advocating for managers like Poch and Ten Hag, who won't succeed with their flawed tactical set ups, to be given time because Arteta was given time. Having said that Ange looks better than Poch and Ten Hag.
No that’s recency bias. Chelsea were a far more formidable force back then. And Liverpool were starting on a far far lower footing than spurs in terms of player quality. And don’t compare them! Klopp broke into top 4 in his first full season it took Arteta 3.5 years!
@alzer6467 ange walked into a team that finished 8th last season, with a manager that drove the team's confidence into the ground. Then Kane left just before the season kicked off. Half the team was injured for most of the season thus far. I would say ange has walked into a situation that is no better than when arteta took over at arsenal or klopp at Liverpool. What he has done thus far is incredible.
@@SiddharthJaggavarapuhe was given a pile of cash and he's got 2 points more than Conte. Relax. He's done well and the media love him. He's not not a title winning manager but he'll get Spurs top 4 more often than not.
@@alzer6467 lol. He lost a generational talent and spent that money wisely. Van de ven and Madison cost as much as Havertz. Klopp spent the Coutinho money and took a while to implement his ideas. He won the CL and the PL in an era of city domination. Arteta spent 3 seasons and a fortune to keep the seat warm for city.
At least now the club different department are actually working toward something they all can agree on let it be the youth, transfer and of course the main team. Ange brought that from the moment he came in, so yes definitely on the right track as long the entire club keep working together as one on it.
he's quite an old man - only managed micky mouse clubs. if he was any good, you would expect him to manage a porper club. Arteta got his first manager job at arsenal, took over a big basket of rotten apples
@user-jl1ry7qp1y clueless comment! Managing any club is difficult, and he could have managed a "proper" club years ago if there wasn't such a strong bias against managers from smaller footballing nations. By your reasoning, Lampard is a good manager because he has managed "proper" teams. It's not just who Ange managed, its how he got teams playing.
Oh get lost chicken club you will never be better then arsenal we are the king of north London we won the premier in your sht White House stadium don’t even remember the name you will never be arsenal with your stingy Jewish owners
@@RogerEriksen-l6hAbsolute peak brainrot comment. By your logic the likes of Lampard and Solskjaer are better managers than Sir Alex Ferguson because SAF managed in the SPL before moving to the EPL instead of immediately walking into top level clubs. Idk how his previous jobs have any effect anyway considering he's objectively doing a great job atm with what he's been given.
Because the premier league and especially Spurs' is littered with false starts in the past 10 or so years? And not to mention that after once topping the league their form really fell off a cliff recently
The xGC is from the nature of the style of football, its a very high line and with both fullbacks occupying the forward half spaces it leaves massive gaps down the channels. If it wasn't for the recovery pace of micky and front foot defending of Romero we would of conceded a ton more. I do however, believe that number will reduce when we have a more commanding midfield. If we got a proper six, an anchor like rodri or rice and manage to control games throughout the game states then the defence won't be as relied upon. It starts from the front and pressing as a team, winning balls back in the final third and being first to the second balls in midfield. At the moment it's a little chaotic, moments of great football and periods of hanging on for dear life. Give it time, only after two to three seasons will I properly judge Ange.
Bissouma goes for risky turns and dribbles. He's got more style and flair than Declan which can be a negative once in a while. I've seen him lose the ball on the edge of our box multiple times this season. @@fangdog29
Sick of people talking shit about Ange, the expectations and the selfishness of people expecting miracles. Comparing him to this to that, will it work all nonsense talk.. bunch of precious human beings, just enjoy the journey. Nothing is perfect in life or a guarantee. Do u need assurance that spurs will play the football the way u want, win everyweek, be champions. Nothing go wrong, because as a fan we deserves it. Wtf is with all that.. u came here on earth to experience the emotions it has to offer, good, bad, funny, sad all of them. U want perfection , start looking for it within yourself..
This chat has aged particularly well after the Villa game, with the defensive numbers and Sarr's importance specifically... Spurs left Villa absolutely broken by the end of that game, with a compelling clean sheet and an immense performance from Sarr 👌
Compared to the past few seasons it's been a joy watching Tottenham. No defensive football. No negativity in press conferences. Its not perfect far from it. Enjoyable so far.
I think it's more the rebuild. Say what you want about Arteta, he has broken the PL duopoly of Pep/Klopp in the sense those two have been forced to take a 3rd power seriously.
People forget how dominant spurs were before their injury/suspension crisis post-Chelsea game. With some more reinforcements in the summer (which their competitors might not be able to match), they will likely be challenging next season.
There are two competing forces at work here As his players have more time and he builds the squad he wants Spurs will get better at playing Ange's brand of football But the longer he's in the premiership the more time opponents will have to think about how to counter it Quite where the equilibrium ends up is anybody's guess
You imply he only has one way of playing which, with all due respect, is nonsense. Compare the performance away to Arsenal with home to Man United and with away to Villa today. The tactics vary hugely. Ange definitely uses the clubs social media to his advantage. The twitter videos will show the same routine over and over again, ball out wide, crossed in low. But I’ve seen them training, these routines are 10 mins out of 2 hours. He just wants people to think he has one way of playing. See the goals since Christmas, how many have been ‘typical Ange goals’? Very few. Balls over the top to the pacey forwards have created more
Ange is like Klopp and Pep. He’s succeeded almost everywhere he’s gone and chosen where he wants to go. He’s also not a young coach. He knows what he’s doing.
@@ht8286:...and....? You don't think having good relationships with bosses and players is important? Not every successful manager became successful by being on wink wink nudge nudge relationships just because you're trying to be!
His first year is always not great... as an aussie I always thought with better players he could get results quicker which I think he has... next year will be huge for him. he usually he goes for tricky wingers which he doesnt quite have atm.
From the beginning Postecoglou had a long term plan. He was criticised for playing the subs (mostly) for the Fulham game that they lost on penalties, but given that he had such a disrupted preseason that was the only chance to assess in a serious game who would stay and who would go. And he made the right decisions. Also, the game that Spurs lost against Chelsea shows his long term vision, playing with 9 they didn't go back and defended but kept playing exactly the same, and they could even have drawn the game. He is playing several players who wouldn't get a chance with previous managers, young, skilful, attacking minded, and brought in people who fit the same mould. Enjoy it!
Even when refs and VAR are wrong, Ange never blames them, he respects the game, very few managers like this, Brendan Roger’s on the week end embarrassed himself at having a go at the refs and VAR
The future is really clear: Levy didn't spend almost a decade building this stadium for the purpose of 20 homes games a year. It's an insane cash cow - he wants 30 homes matches a year (plus 30 major secondary events, council permission now pending). You only do that by going deep in the (3) cup comps. Next stage is a full City-sized 25-adult squad, with under 21s pushing them. Goodness knows Levy has been shaving adult numbers off his squads for 1/4 of a century. Now, though, with the stadium heaving and the fan base buzzing, is the moment.
I think you are discounting ange's history in delivering with teams that have not been expected to win. Brisbane, Yokohama in particular. Personally, I'll be putting 100 on tottenham for the league next season.
Until we get rid of feeling a pressure to win something we'll always fail. As a Spurs fan it's obviously frustrating we haven't won things, but looking for a quick solution isn't the answer. We need a long term plan and to find the pieces that fit and simply be patient. Build for sustainability and not look for immediate success. Ange has brought the culture of entertaining attacking football back to Spurs and you can see how players with certain skill sets can improve his playstyle further. VDV has shown that and I wouldn't say Maddison is anywhere close to being world class, but he's shown the style of player needed for that role...even he can be improved on though!!! It's promising and we need to get away from thinking Spurs/Ange has limited time to win something
The measure of a good coach is getting the most out of the players you have. Ange has done that at every club he has coached, and he’s doing it at Spurs.
Please stop with these crude comparisons between initial manager stints at clubs, totally lacking context; the same comparison was trotted out to laud Ten Haag even though the stats + eye test could tell you he was overachieving and reversion to the mean would catch up with him. The rest of your analysis is where the value is, i.e., comparing him with with his predecessors in terms of football ethos, man management, recruitment and progress on the pitch and off it.
100% easily our most important player this year it's nuts that we looked at this kid who was in a relegation battle in the French league and decided to sign him
Considering its his first year and Spurs are arguably in a rebuild, losing a few of their most senior, important players, I think hes doing a great job. As a neutral, even though the trophiless jokes can be funny, it'd be nice to see them win something. Also, the more teams in the mix for the top 4/ title the better imo, especially when they're playing such beautiful football.
Hes had a good start with a quick turn around from where they were. Whether they get Champions League/not will be interesting but yeah solid effort so far, even with seeking vindication. On the tactics of being quite offensive all the time, but look Im an Aussie. So aside from that VAR moment Im not gonna have a bad thing to say about him. He was the bridge between previous national team management and now Graham Arnold for Socceroos. And now done well in the club sphere again after that
Turned 50 last year. Tottenham born and bred..poor me. 🤣 I often wonder if we’ll ever win a title in my lifetime. Not holding my breath, but as most fans would realistically hope for, I’d be over the moon just to see us win silverware more regularly and be a great team to watch. My biggest disappointment was not losing the CL final, but not progressing thereafter. An interesting discussion, but ultimately we just have to see how ambitious we really are, and for that to happen, we need to spend like never before. And that’s up to the owners. Is Ange the man to then get the best out of a deeply talented squad? 🤷♂️
Top 4 and Europe is a priority in Ange Head- He is deflecting the pressure away from his players- skill full management- You got to be in it to win full stop so I am backing the experience in Europe as part of the development.
The most exciting aspect of Ange's presence at the club has been putting the attention on the academy. Changing how we go about scouting, retaining and training young players to have a greater success rate from academy when it comes to first team football. Important building blocks for creating sustained success is so important to tottenham.
Some perspective, please! Tottenham are currently 11 points behind the Arsenal, when at Christmas they were just one point behind them, and are currently sitting in a worst League position than when Conte was sacked exactly one year ago...
Who have we signed ? Maddison and van de ven are the only players that would get into the top two team squad. Bj, kulu, timo arent that good. They are OK, but do you really think they are good recruitment. We signed drago that doesn't even play
@@stephen2992 in the past 24 months I’d put into the top signings being Porro, Udogie, Vic, Micky, Madders and Kulu it’s about potential and building for the future. It took Klopp 4 seasons to win his first league title.
Yeah but Tottenham will never be better then arsenal ok fine from 2014 until 2022 your useless club was better then my beloved arsenal but did you ever win anything atleast we won the fa cup even in our bad time
Tottenham have conceded 13 goals in the 12 games that their first choice back 4 have played. Ange issue is the drop off to the back ups, and having to play Emerson and Davies as CBs for 10 games.
In fairness, a lot of Tottenham fans who watch the team regularly could see that Hojbjerg and Skipp were far off the quality in the middle of the park that rivals had. Sarr clearly had a lot of potential but was so young, so it's not clear how much Ange has developed him vs. a natural progression of a top U21 player globally. Bissouma hasn't really improved on his Brighton performances. Udogie came straight in and is elite. Ange cannot surely be credited with this: could see from his Udinese (??) games that he had some incredible qualities. Son was developed in a big way by Mourinho. As was Kane who was given the freedom to roam a bit like he did at youth level. Romero and Porro have certainly improved under Ange, though.
@@theblackswordsman9951you just can't give some credit can you I tell you what give arteta or klomp or pep sheffield with a minimum budget and lets see how they go I can guarantee you ange will do better with sheffield then the other three
one thing spurs have struggled with even back when poch was in charge had a great first 11 but just a first 11 doesnt win you trophies we need an actual squad with decent players to bring on off the bench when its not going well and i feel we are on the right track for that now which i feel in next few seasons could make all the difference
The answer is "No, he's not on the right track at Spurs." If he were on the right track, the team would win more often. Just compare them to the scoring ability of Arsenal.
Everyone forgets it was Arteta catching covid that put football on lockdown , so Arsenal is a very special case which makes Arteta progress even more impressive on his first job
Additional * for Angie in his favor… he lost Harry Kane before the season. Not a bad egg player like auba or Pepe…. The greatest striker in England tat is English’s and academy product. The day before the first game. That’s a huge dressing room loss, in addition to the goals and assists.
After spurs winning the milk cup back in the days . Levy had to pay out bonuses to the players . It made levy very uncomfortable and said he wouldn't be doing this again 😂😅
You can use Liverpool and Arsenal as examples to gauge how well Ange is doing IF you apply some context. Both of those teams were in disarray and needed a lot of work to turn the ship around. Whereas Tottenham had been consistently stable for quite a long time before Ange took over. Use them if you want, but the way you're using them is just a way to pat yourself on the back, its of no benefit to us or yourselves because you're not being honest about the true reality of it
So, I subscribed to this to see if the Athletic was something I'd like to sign up to. But, over the last 6-8 weeks, all I have seen is endless content about Cite, Utd, Arse, Pool and Spurs - do you ever do anything on other teams? [ever not meaning once or twice a year!]
On the podcasts, not much. Once every so often you will have a midtable club that is mentioned, particularly when a new manager arrives. The Athletic itself has several articles on clubs outside the big six, however, as you say, you need a paid subscription. Honestly, I tried it for a year and while some of the in-depth analysis of games is top-notch, I didn't really feel it value-for-money. That and most of the Athletic's podcasts are available for free in Spotify or Google Podcasts, so you don't even need to pay for their flagship content.
People don’t dismiss winning Scottish league with Celtic because they’re snobby about Scottish football - it’s because winning a league with a team that’s done it 10 years in a row isn’t that impressive
The uneducated have no idea about the context of his achievements at Celtic. They finished 25 points behind Rangers the previous season & Ange was a last minute appointment due to first choice Eddie Howe pulling out shortly before kick off.. Cleaned them out & turned them around completely in that first season. won the title plus another trophy. Next season the treble. Historically his teams perform vastly better in the second season. Expect no different at Spurs.
@@michaelriley828The fact remains is that Celtic won it 9 times in a row before that one season and his appointment. The chances are that anyone else would have won it again after that one poor season. Celtic won 11 league titles out of last 12 ffs. With 4 different managers, and neither of them is considered a top class manager. For comparison, Neil Lennon has won it 5 times in 9 seasons and he is currently without a job. That's how 'hard' it is to win it with Celtic/Rangers in Scotland. Hell, even Steven Gerrard managed to win it. The way people are talking about it, you'd think he won it with St. Mirren or whoever is the worst over there.
I think it s really lame that these chaps make no mention of SON, for his contribution as the captain for building the oft alluded ethos, and SON's MVP contribution on the pitch. Lame.
Arteta took over a team with one of the best forward lines in the country. They won the FA Cup in his first few months with someone else’s squad. So he had way more to build on Ange took over a dinosaur team that played fossil football. You say he had a pre season - agreed he did. But ended it by losing by far his best player! He’s rebuilt the team and indeed the club, in weeks. He is the real deal. He will win plenty with spurs
Regarding recruitment, Daniel Levy has personally chosen the vast majority of incoming players since his appointment as chairman of THFC 23 years ago, and has undermined each and every one of the many coaches he personally selected, backstabbed and then fired!!!
Tth allows threat like a mid table side. This “famous” draw with City, in fact they were thrashed and got lucky, so it’s not a “gave them a game” like even Chelsea did. No, it’s hard to not admire this season’s overall success, especially if they will manage to qualify. But let’s see. They will lose points, I promise you that.
Assume Klopps Liverpool was always good? IF ANYTHING ITS PRETTY WELL KNOWN WE WERE STILL SHIT until the 18/19 season where we went for the Champions League but got "broken" by the goddamn Los Blancos
It would be interesting to know how pochettino thinks atm, how he looks at today's Tottenham. And is it just me or are the enic out crybabies more silent atm?
All Spurs fans have been here before, Levy won't fully back the manager with the necessary funds to truly challenge and he will hide behind the FFP rules to justify it even though we are more than capable of outspending anyone.
