A lot of youtube and other internet beauty peeps have been meh about R.E.M Beauty because it's a Forma brands, brand. Aka: the parent company of Morphe. So everyone has basically been thinking it's overpriced Morphe.
I’ve heard a lot of people not like it bc it’s another celebrity cash grab. They don’t care about the products or customers, they just want to make a quick buck. Ariana Grande owns this one, and I fully believe it’s a cash grab. Their products don’t seem that great and they’re overpriced for being an infant company
Everyone has been ragging on the packaging but I actually kinda like it, it's got that 60's futurism vibe going on which at least fits with Ariana's style it's more than most brands do when they get a celebrity face.
That packaging is causing some real cognitive dissonance. On the one hand, I see a really cute Y2K pulp space thing and I'm totally here for it, and on the other hand, it just looks like Almay.
I personally feel like Selena comes off as really passionate about and involved in Rare Beauty which makes me want to buy it. REM feels like ariana just did a makeup brand because everyone else was, but her interest in the brand doesn't seem as genuine
I’m not really a fan of Ariana Grande herself, but once this brand launched I really was interested in it. 😅 I like the whole space theme and personally to me it reminds of late 90s/early 2000s. Whenever I see the products it reminds me of Britney Spears running around in her silver tops and pants somewhat around that time. 😆 Maybe that’s why I never thought it looks cheap. But thanks for the review, I have two friends being die-hard Ariana fans, could get them smth from the brand on their b/days or Christmas, knowing it’s not gonna be a total miss. 💛
So funny! I just bought one of these lipsticks a few days ago randomly (was not interested-just liked a color). And- I had the same reaction. I was IMPRESSED! Very smooth and creamy... And, the bullet is a magnetic closure, which I am a sucker for
the packaging is a complete copy of Kiko Milano, which is a great drugstore brand, so I have no intention of giving more money to a brand that is obviously a cash grab. I may be too strict, but there are simply so many brands on the market, and if the products are not very cheap, I can't tolerate such things, especially at those prices. Sorry for my English i used Google translate😆
@@grandetristesse3370 to be honest I'm not very interested in them to be mad. I think there are many worse people in the industry who earn much more than they deserve
I love how the shadow palette worked, I think it was better than the 2 Huda Palettes. Stunning look, cant wait for your monthly haul thoughts roundup after using the products more. Thank you for all your hard work you do for us Angi ❤
I feel like people forget that before rare beauty launched everyone was pretty skeptical the products would be good. My local ulta was putting out their REM display last time I was there and I feel like they had most of the products. I am going to go get some this weekend to try!
You know why I trust you? You never kiss anyone's ass, but you are also never overdramatic. I feel like you have a very analitical brain which just speaks facts as they are. Speaks to my brain very much. Never change, you beautiful creature. Also, please show your furbabies more, it's been a while. I've been watching you for years so I'm attached to them 🤣🤣🤣
REM just looks cheap. I wish she created Bomb eyeliners as that’s what she is famous for. Side note Billie Eilish’s perfume is bomb. If you like Black Opium you will love it. The bottle … bronze and it’s heavy feeling lux. It’s worth the buy!! Sharing is caring.
@@therealloubird ah i see, makes sense eyeliners is something she can really expand esp.with color too- she could really use that branding and run with it
Right? Like Gwen Steffani with GXVE, she launched a small line of products that actually are what she’s known for in terms of makeup looks. Or even Selena with Rare Beauty and the concept behind the brand. I respect that kind of enterprise, it’s inspiring. To me, it is strange that Arianna Grande’s makeup line seems so detached from her own aesthetic, or am I wrong about this?
@@therealloubird rem beauty outsold all of your fave.... And Floppilie eyelash flopped and her perfume flopped harder... That industry plant tried to pull an ariana Grande by releasing perfume line but she forgot that Ariana's line is about to hit a billion dollar market while hers doesn't even sell at ulta 💀
So, off subject, I just received the Hela box that Oden’s eye did along with the mystery boxes, and the Hela palette is ABSOLUTELY beautiful ❤️❤️😍😍 I can’t wait to use it
Really love how the lipstick matches the outer corner colour and also how spacy the blue lid is looking. Totally vibing with the retrofuturism aesthestics!
Door Dashing tiramisu tells me exactly that Ricardo is still in the lab a lot! Haha. I have been apart from my partner for a week now (and will be for another week!) for the first time in 3 years of the pandemic. We spend every day together, so bubble tea and dessert just arrives sometimes..
Even though I don't care for Ariana Grande I love the cream blush formula from this line. I have oily skin and it stays put pretty much all day and leaves a beautiful natural sheen on my cheeks that somehow doesn't look weird. Works better for me than the compact cream blush Rare Beauty released. And the shade range for highlights, cream shadows and blushes is great.
The mint you smell and taste in the Gloss is peppermint oil. Peppermint oil and cinnamon are commonly used in plumping glosses because they irritate the lips causing blood flow to the area which is what gives the plumping affect
I feel like everyone wanted to hate this from the start. Im not and Ariana Grande super fan or anything but I thought oh something a little different 🤷🏻♀️ her packaging is not the basic light pink that everyone is trying to do haha I knew you would actually be honest about the formulas, if you can make it work and enyoy it I know its worth taking a second glanze at.
It looks like there are some good products in the collection. The packaging and eyeshadow palette looks way nicer here than in the promo pics. I checked out the products at Ulta and the reviews are pretty good overall. I think people in the beauty community are being pretty hard on this brand.
When i think of Ariana Grande i can't take of my mind the video of her spitting / licking doughnuts, that she did not buy, at a small bussiness. She was a 22 year old woman and that wasn't funny. I can't support her im any way.
A woman after my own heart!!! When you said tiramisu, girl I love tiramisu!!!! I believe the Walmart stores carry it by the bakery section in the front coolers. Not sure if you might like theirs but hey I can always try it! Love this video!!!!
I'm glad you found products you like and I hope this video does well for you. Question as to why people don't like this brand? I can't speak for everyone but for me personally: it's a celebrity I don't particularly care for who has products that aren't particularly attractive to me aesthetically both in packaging and in product (the eyeshadow palette colour stories and liquid shadows) In formulas I'm not that interested in (traditional shimmers, eye goop, blush that stays dewy). I don't 'hate' the brand but there's nothing interesting there for me, nevermind the fact that it's not even here in Europe. 🙄🤷🏻♀️
@@grandetristesse3370 I make a comment explaining I don't hate the brand, but it doesn't interest me, which you've apparently interpreted as me being 'mad'. Apathetic would be a better word for the feeling. Also I never said the brand doesn't ship to Europe, I said it isn't here (like in store to see in person). Also, I'm 41 so I'm not exactly the target demographic for the brand. Ariana isn't from my generation and isn't relevant to me. 🤷🏻♀️
@@grandetristesse3370 are you actually making fun of my age? You came onto my comment, the one where I specifically state it's my own opinion of the brand, to give me a hard time about it. Then, when I clarify, you decide the thing to do is to clap back about my age? Your behaviour is disgusting
This look is amazing. I have learned that if Angie can't make an eyeshadow work then it's absolute trash. Your the first person I've seen review this brand that did an amazing look with it. ❤
I will say the mint jelly shadow does behave more like a topper, but the red DOES NOT. The red shade is VERY vibrant and can be worn as a main shade/by itself for sure.
I think that Rare Beauty has an ethical approach as well as nice products and I think people like that. Also, as someone else has said, Selena is much more visibly involved in her brand so it seems more like something she is fully invested in it rather than it just being a cash grab. If REM comes to the UK might give it a go as I do like the look of the packaging but could totally pass on the eyeshadows.
@@grandetristesse3370 yea because rat ass arianators buy everything with ariana on it ☠ her merch always looks and feels cheap and gimmiky, but pop off i guess
Thanks for the review. You are right, the marketing pictures not do any good to the packaging and I also thought, that it look cheap. I am really impressed by the products you try. Especially the topper shades and the lippie. If they come to Germany, I will also try it. 😊
Thank you for the review! You had me laughing out loud with that comment about the lashes. I picked up a lipstick from this line because the packaging was adorable, and I’ve been curious about the highlighters. I agree that if they came out with better color stories for the eyeshadows, I would be more interested.
I have been waiting to hear your opinion on the NYX product because I was wanting to know if it could possibly double as my bronzer. I know one is a bronzer and the other a contour but the NYX Contour Stix+Highlight only has .28 grams of product total and the Rare Beauty Bronzer has 0.25 oz/ 7.0g and I don't think it sounded like it was on par with the Rare Beauty so I am just going to wait until the Rare Beauty one comes back in stock in my shade. Thanks for this great review. 👍🥰
**Disclaimer: I don’t know if it’s just the one pallet I got on initial launch, or if it’s something a lot of people have experienced. My friend purchased her pallet after the second launch and has similar feelings about it as you do. I got my pallet on initial launch. My pallet was dry/dusty and performed like those old Revlon shadows from 2005-2010. They faded after about 2 hours of wear (I used painterly paint pot as an unset base) and they weren’t very pigmented to begin with. I did spray the shimmers to get extra oomph on a few different uses. I’m going to use it because I paid for it, but mine is like an overpriced Revlon pallet.
Can't remember who but someone mentioned in a video that they thought they might have changed the eyeshadow palette formula between launches, I think quiet a few people have had a similar experience
I was preparing to be underwhelmed with the REM Beauty products, but you did a thing there, Angie! Not totally sure if it wasn't more about what you can do with the make-up rather than the make-up itself though.
This is the best review I've seen of this brand.... but I still don't think i'll try anything. I can get products that are "okay" or "good" at drug store prices. That lipstick does look nice though! If i swatch one and love it, i could see myself picking one up :)
REM beauty has a much harder up hill battle than Rare beauty. Ariana Grande is a much more controversial figure over Selena, It’s through Forma brands (Morphe), it looks cheap in the promotional material, and they started off with much “trendier” products (eyeshadow, highlights, lashes, etc.) versus staples like foundation. Ariana is really the only face of her brand where Selena is Rare beauty ads but there are other models there too. Also probably some bias here but it’s much easier to believe that Selena Gomez actually wears rare beauty than it is then Ariana Grande wears REM beauty.
I really like creative vision behind this brand. the space theme is super cool and I feel like nobody is paying attention to that. most new brands play it safe and launch neutrals, but REM put out colourful highlighters and a large variety of interesting eye products. That's bold for s first launch and I admire it!
Man, the things I would do to see you do a bracket showdown (a la March Madness in the US) to find out what would come out on top: a matte inner corner versus an orange blush. 😉 Anyway, watching you apply makeup is what I imagine the other workers felt watching Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel: mesmerizing and inspiring and just a “I’m not saying this is sorcery, but I’m pretty sure it’s sorcery” experience. Even with iffy products, you pull a stunning look off every time. So appreciate you, Angi! 🧡
First! Phuxache! Aww. You're still married! You have a ring. Like who demanded wearing a ring was ever a sign on commitment? And of course I also follow Ms. Gräs!
First, have to say, I love your nails. With celeb brands, people bash the person and almost get nasty. With teens, we get the mentality as they don't yet understand the big picture of life. It is strange when 30+ yr old women, who should know better, are saying even though we all get only one chance at life, celebs or certain people shouldn't fulfill their dreams or goals because they, a stranger on their phone, don't approve or know the celeb's personal feelings & intent, having never had one conservation with them. If a celeb or anyone wants to create or achieve something in their one shot of life, they should, and as adult women, we should appreciate and applaud that.
I like R.e.m beauty. The shimmery liquid shadows are so beautiful. I have the purple one and I want to try the cool toned pink iridescent liquid shadow I think its called 'Fembot' so beautiful. I also want to try her jelly eyeshadows. You can use these shadows on your lid and a mate shadow in the crease for dimention. I also wanted to try her cooling undereye gel and I love it because it does what it says. ❤
I actually bought several things out of the Chapter 2 collection. I got the GoGo Boots palette after I saw Morgan Turner do an absolutely gorgeous Spring look with it in one of her videos, and I got the green goop and the purple goop, lol! Also bought three blushes, and I really enjoy all of them. I'm on a bit of a cream blush journey right now, and I agree that these don't dry down that great but I wear my hair up and work from home, so the sticky factor isn't a problem for me. They wouldn't be my first choice to wear out of the house though. However - the goop, with a little bit of black eyeliner in the upper lash line and in the waterline is a nice, quick, one-and-done look. I grab for that when we have a sudden, unplanned video meet, lol. I'm very excited to try the lipstick now though! Based on your description, it sounds like something I'll love! I'll close my thesis on REM Beauty now. LOL! Thanks pretty lady 🙂
I feel like the first product photos people were so put off by the packaging that they didn't give the brand a chance. I really like the look of the lipsticks though. And if they do a palette that has pretty colors, I might go for that too
I feel for you about losing a ring. Mind you mine is an engagement ring but I am damn near lost my mind. I had taken it off and couldn't remember when I put it. I usually put it back in the box it came in. It was not the an box or any of my normal spots. I hid it from him for two days until I caved and told him. We were making the bed that morning and I found it wrapped up in the bedding. I forgot that I had taken my ring off two days earlier while I was sitting on the bed. We had went on a date and wanted to do my make up. I don't wear my ring while I am home. I usually put it on when I am leaving my house
From what I understand the quality varies greatly on the batch you get, two people can buy the same product and one gets something good and one gets something garbage, so that's probably why people (including me lol) have been hating on the brand
I love Ariana as an artist but her brand wasn’t pulling me in. Maybe because it has a futuristic vibe? Not sure lol but I bought the volumizing mascara so I hope that works for me! I agree though the aesthetic of Rare is a lot more me!
It just seemed that everyone was jumping on the bandwagon to condemn this brand from the very start without giving it a fair go. Honestly, how can every single reviewer all hate the packaging? No-one was thinking for themselves except for Angie. I'm not a great fan of the packaging either but it's the product that we're spending the money on. I must say that I thought the lipstick looked like a little space-man too. We need to start thinking for ourselves and base our judgements on what's presented to us. I admire Angie for giving her honest opinion without following all the others.💖🕊
Good morning Angelica!! I've been wondering about this too, I've not tried the brand, but we started selling it at Ulta, and I needed to know more about it until I'm able to purchase it myself
I have one of the eyeshadow palettes from Chapter 2 - I like it, but it does take a bit of work. Partly because it's pastel and partly because of the formula. It's not the best shadow I've ever worked with but I can get a nice look with it. I like the 'goops' too! I use them as a one-and-done look with a little bit of eyeliner. The only issue I have with them is they actually dry down a little TOO fast. I love that they dry down completely, but you have to be real sure you put them where you want them because that's where they're going to dry and stick, lol. I'm excited to try the lipstick after Angie's review too! Oh, and the blushes - I got three of them. They're very, very nice, and they actually do work as blush and lipsticks, but they don't dry down. If they could combine the dry-down time of the goop with the blush, it would be epic. LOL! Hope that helps a little bit! :-)
I really appreciate that you didn’t just write off this brand immediately and actually gave your unbiased thoughts, not many people were doing that. That being said no matter the quality I personally am skeptical of this brand as I read that the packaging is a rip off from the brand Color Zone…😕
I know you don’t contour very often, but that contour color is really good for your skin tone for any days or occasions where you do want to contour! It looks great 😊
I love the eye look. I have this palette, and the babydoll one. I haven’t used them. But I bought it for that blue. I love the lipstick, it reminds me of the Juvia’s place lipsticks. I will be trying them asap…I agree, don’t like sticky blush.
I like the aesthetic of this brand’s packaging. I’m not interested in buying, though… Idk why, but the products themselves don’t inspire me, except for maybe the liquid eyeshadow toppers. I’m glad that I’m not the only one that finds the color stories of the eyeshadow palettes weird and uninspiring, lol.
I work at Ulta so I fuck around with all of her products. The liquid eyeshadow is amazing and the cooling eye gel feels nice. The concealer is thick which is good if you want to hide breakouts but I still use lancome
Side note: does anybody else think it’s a little odd that the brand is named R.E.M. as in Rapid Eye Movement? Like there was no double meaning or other acronym they named it R.E.M. and I can’t get over it
