You should also mention that remaps void warranty. They will find out straight away if it's mapped. Also, it puts extra strain on running gear, obviously. Lastly, I would always recommend custom maps, generic ones are a big risk, since they're not customised to your specific vehicles condition, etc

I've been thinking about getting a remap for along time for my E90 320d now. I do around 80 miles a day and I always thought a custom map would hurt my MPG and I really didn't want that. But yesss, I will definitely go ahead and get a remap! Great video bro

Jamie, I just bought myself an E70 X5 40d and was really intrigued by your improvements in MPG. I live in a rather hilly part of the south west, where it's regularly a lot of 1:10 gradients and switchbacks. My MPG hasn't been better than 25mpg with me driving like I'm a IAM member! What were your power figures and torque curves saying before and after? Who remapped your car, and what mileage did you have it done at? The N57 engine is an absolute tractor of a lump that just ticks away on torque.

My car is running on a completely custom-made map which perfectly meets my needs - in my opinion, remapping a car is totally worth it. But there are some caveats. Do not remap a non-turbo car, tuners will still give you maps for those cars but mostly what you get is a pedal tune. Do not go overboard - aggreseive maps eventually affect your engine, clutch, gearbox, etc.One of my friend's stage-III Skoda rapid has its clutch slipping badly. Manage your expectations - do not expect both higher mpg and higher bhp/torque figures. A remap may be able to give you only one of them at a time. Try to get maps customized for your needs and don't just go for one off-the-shelf because the tuner said it will give your car 30% additional horsepower.

Remaps often lead to other mechanical problems given time. Unless you know the technical capabilities of the vehicle and understand how changes in torque affect those then you will keep paying.

It is good to hear about your experiences with remapping. One thing you did not mention is that some manufacturers limit power output for no apparent reason. For example a Mazda CX-3 with the Skyactiv g 2.0 engine produces 146 hp. from the factory. That is enough for the FWD version with the manual transmission but not enough for the AWD automatic which is about 240 pounds heavier. The strange thing is that the same engine produces 155 hp. in the Mazda 3 and 160 hp. in the Miata. It seems they have limited the power for the MX-3 for no obvious reason. This makes the 3000 lb. beast of a subcompact lethargic at highway speeds and increases the risk of crashing while trying to overtake another vehicle. It is easy to understand why someone would want to remap the engine to recover the lost power to make the vehicle safer. I expect there are other cars that have been hamstrung just like the CX-3. Between a BMW 118d and a 120d for example, it's not only a question of factory dumbed down engine to the 118d, the 120d although have the same housing engine, the pistons, the injector, the turbo areor the same. You can check the OEM real parts. The exhaust are not the same too, so it's not only just about typing on the keyboard behind a computer. It's an association of both...

Load of waffle, and a genuinely ugly car inside and out. I don’t mind x6’s but this one is hideous.

I know someone who had a fiesta 1.4 tdci with about 68hp and a 0-60 in about 14.2 seconds. Did a stage 1 and it upped it to 84hp and slashed the 60 time to just over 11 seconds. That's not bad and no flat spots and a decent chunk of torque. Not worth mapping the 1.25 petrol though.

Remapped my 2001 Saxo VTR last year. Was worth it yes. However, not good enough. I want it quicker! So adding a race cam this year....

U can get 40bhp form a ep3 type r with bolt ons but will set u back 3-4k depending on what parts our wanting. 421 manifold, 3 inch catback, cold air intake, different inlet manifold should see them go from 200 to 240 with a 40-50bhp increase in the midrange. Impressive for an N/A car!! Getting my dc5 done this summer and I can't wait!

Turbo Diesels are best for remapping. All the power and torque are between usable revs. Really enjoyable.

Any car with a turbo is worth mapping. More power is more fun and more effortless driving. If you don’t drive it hard your mpg improves. Every car I’ve had I’ve had mapped infact only bought my car last Friday and it’s in for a map on feb 9th

I remap every 1 of my cars. My e60 was remaped shit ton of torque.. but bought a Saab TWin turbo diesel. 2008 . Remap. Lighter car close torque figures 250+ bhp.. quick deisel. Good to embarrass the young ones lol

A 35d isent a 3.5 mate its still a 3litre but has twin turbo and bigger injectors
