Everyone who fears the Lord should really seek him in this matter because it’s a serious one as the Bible says that adulterers will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God! I would rather be on the safe side than trying to find fault in translations just to justify my actions and satisfy my flesh! This is why people really need to be sure that God chose their spouse for them and not rely on their own understanding or feelings! Many pastors have gone down that road too…
@deanfry879

Nevertheless, God's chosen spouse for you is the one you marry, but be sure that, depending on what you are as a person, the Lord will use your spouse to discipline and correct you. Unless you see that as part of the blessing of the Lord to make you more and more righteous, you will have a very hard time (see Romans 1:21,24).
@zazilicious
@zazilicious Год назад
@@deanfry879 Yes and that’s fine because everything God does is for my own good wether I like it or don’t so that’s why I said ask God to choose for you and don’t trust your own feelings! Some people end up with narcissistic spouse or materialistic or uncaring but it’s too late they should have asked God because divorce isn’t an option!

Amen. Well said. It might be hard, but I will always seek to find out what God's will is over *my* will. And if I can't figure it out/haven't gotten the revelation, I'm going to play it safe and not go down a road that I'm not sure of. My salvation is on the line, and that's more important than any earthly pleasure.

Amen brother ❤ True, I would stay on the safe side too and not find fault in wherever people feel like they need to satisfy their flesh, I bet if you really go deep you can find loopholes in salvation by works, or that we are not sinners or whatever false doctrine. Pastors really are going astray.

So... you are taking the stance that we lose our salvation if we remarry? Was adultery the unforgivable sin? If you lust after a woman for even a moment you are an adulterer... have you lost your salvation at that moment? David and Sampson are condemned to Hell? Sin is an Engish archery term for "missing the mark". Jesus made it clear that no matter how legalisticly we follow the law... we are yet sinners in need of a savior. In the scripture about adulters, thieves, murderers wont inherent salvation, it seems to imply the habitual, worldly, unrepentant who are not believing. I know Gods ideal for marriage, and all things in life... I do the things I ought not, and dont do what i should, WRETCHED MAN THAT I AM... Apostle Paul

Reading the comments of all the remarriage videos are something. I predict a lot of folks essentially condemning folks have never gone through it. All they offer in their comments are condemnation no solution no verses of hope just pure. "Stay single, lonely earthly existance while we judge you either way" Imagine being the person who never viewed divorce as an option but the other person in the marriage does and does it. Litterly nothing you can do 1 Corinthians 7:15. People saying your not bound to upkeep the marriage but u gotta still live in your secluded hole for remainder of your existance. Years go by no contact. Sorry bro your a less than christian now relegated to less than status now. I guess due to my circumstances maybe it be better if a truck just hit me or something... Im single and never been married and I had to break up with my girlfriend I was engaged to when I found out what scriptures taught. Her husband left her and married her best friend. She was divorced. If I had married her I would have been living in adultery. There are clear scriptures on this Mark 10:11-12, Luke 16:18, Romans 7:2-3, 1 Cor 7:10&11. I would rather be single and obey God than in adultery with God's judgement on me. There is a reason 2nd marriage have higher divorce rates and kid suffer mental and physical and sexual abuse.

This video ignores very important scripture. Scripture says that whichever man marries a divorced woman commits adultery. Scripture says that a woman is bound to her husband as long as he’s alive but if she separates, she must not remarry. The Bible says that if a woman has sexual relations with another man while her first husband is alive, she is called an adulteress. This is just what scripture says. Matthew 5:32, Luke 16:18, Romans 7:2-3. Adultery is a very serious sin

Yes but there are 2 exceptions according to Gods word. You can’t leave these out, they matter and so does context. If you stay in a marriage when an unbeliever is literally divorcing you and refuses to work on it God says let that person go in peace and it’s done. Aka a fresh clean slate which is what you get on top of having a personal relationship with Christ where you repent for your every sin and the lord leads you exactly where to Go.

I don't understand why Deut 24:1-4 is quoted. Granted this passage doesn't mention adultery, however it says: "then, her former husband, ...may not take her again to be his wife, after she has been defiled, for that is an abomination, etc.". Clearly she is defiled because she remarried. I think the only situation that allows remarriage is when the spouse was an unbeliever and left, and some add, neglected or abandoned the marriage in the way he/she acted without actually physically leaving. I am a divorcee and I really wish I could interpret the Bible as telling me it's OK to remarry, but if I m honest, I can't. I think we take vows very lightly today (incl myself). We haven't got a clue most of the time about God's holiness.

Remarriage is not scriptural for any reason except after the death of one’s spouse, even if one spouse is guilty of sexual immorality. The exception clause is stated ONLY for the question of divorce, NOT remarriage. Plus Jesus was answering their question in regards to Moses’ law, not Christianity. Paul states in 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 that separation or reconciliation are the only two options because you are BOUND TILL DEATH, 1 Corinthians 7:39, Romans 7:1-3. Remarriage is not part of God’s plan for forgiveness, reconciliation, or redemption. Remarriage, if your spouse is still living, is done purely out of fleshly and worldly desires. Reconciliation is God’s will and perfect plan, not remarriage!
@michaelberhanu199

This conclusion is just a fair opinion but not God's opinion. It is better to stay on the safe side and not get remarried if divorce happens for any reason. If you don’t want to be an adulterer, don’t live in an adulterous relationship. You would be in sin, in needing repent. Living in an adulterous marriage is sinful. Look at John 4. “The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” Your dispute isn’t with me, but with God’s word.

There's no remarriage with a living spouse. The scriptures is clear about this. It applies to the innocent party and guilty. Notice he kept saying "in their opinion." He's making the scriptures contradict itself. The scriptures says God can't lie. The scriptures have to harmonize. "The Creator" has one wife. The Church. The Apostle Paul said we grafted in. Look at all the backsliding and spiritual cheating believers do. But God is still coming back for his bride, (believers). If you repent and be reborn again.

This subject(divorce and remarry) is such a sensitive one, but this video makes a lot of sense. The part in the video that said something to the effect:"continuous" adultery makes so much sense! In my mind, the person would have to be willfully getting married, then divorcing, then remarrying, only to satisfy their own sexual pleasures and certainly not to glorify Christ! I am divorced but my spouse has passed away so I can remarry but if the person wasn't dead, it would be very difficult for me not to remarry because I love the institution of that covenant, I really do! Thank you so much GotQuestions ministry for this contextual and timely video. God bless you all. 🙏🏽

Did Jesus give us a loophole to get out of our marriages by saying, "except for marrital unfaithfulness," or was He acknowledging adultery cannot be caused by divorce if it already exists? If this is right, then divorcing our unfaithful partners is still hardhearted toward the spouse and toward God, who can heal all things. There is no command to divorce an unfaithful partner and there are many marriages healed after adultery.

Just because it's grounds for divorce, doesn't mean the covenant is broken, so remarriage is not an option unless that spouse passed away, but you have to understand why that was said who it was meant for, unless you are a jew that statement would be more understanding, but if you are not, then that verse in Matthew doesn't apply to you, for every other gospel never mentioned an exception clause and Paul would've been contradicting himself saying that remarriage is ok.

@@325ariel Nonsense! Any material breach of the terms of the marital covenant would give the other spouse the right to terminate the covenant. Covenants can be voided just like a contract can in the event of a material breach of its terms. Paul makes it very clear that it is no sin to marry if you are unmarried for any reason, regardless of prior marital status. See 1 Corinthians 7, verses 9, 15, and 27-28. You claim that any and all remarriage after divorce is adultery. I wish to test that claim with a series of questions: (1) Was adultery lawful under the Mosaic Law? (Exodus 20:14) (2) If not, what explanation is there for Deuteronomy 24:1-2? (3) Was Esther guilty of adultery when she married King Xerxes after he divorced Queen Vashti? (4) If remarriage after divorce was always adultery, why was it ever lawful? (Deut 24:2) (5) If remarriage after divorce was not always adultery, when did it become adultery? (6) If Jesus abolished divorce, when did Heaven and Earth disappear? (Matt 5:17-18, Luke 16:17) (7) If Heaven and Earth have disappeared, why wasn't I informed? (8) In what Scripture are people in a 2nd marriage commanded to get a divorce?

@dh605x I'm an adulterer in my heart just being a single, very healthy, male. I desire a mate. Divorced my wife after 6 years of neglect and forced celibacy. I understand that it is not Gods ideal for couples to divorce, he allowed it through Moses. We technically sin in remarriage, but we do not loose our salvation! The legalistic ones here are the Pharisies making rules of no divorce or no remarriage... so people would live in sin even if forced to stay married! The scripture about not inheriting salvation seems to be about the unbelievers who live lives in continuous sin as their unrepentant, unsaved, lifestyles.

What is interesting about people justifying remarriage is that they fail to read Mark 10:11 Luke 16:18 Romans 7. What is even more disturbing is how pastors will use Matthew 5:32 that says fornication is the reason one can divorce and remarry. Fornication and adultery have different application though they both are sexual acts. Why is this so sensitive, is because people's hearts are hard. Jesus was so wise in that he always took the so called religious folks back to the beginning. If adultery is truly grounds for divorce and permission for remarriage, would it be fair to say then God have permission to remarry another nation though his covenant was made with Israel?

Jesus shut down Moses law about divorce and remarriage. Jesus said if someone remarry after divorce that person shall be called a adulterous. Paul said the same thing in 1 Corinthians 7:39. Paul said only way to remarry is the death of a spouse. There are reason to divorce and separation but never remarriage. In Gal 5:19-21 Paul warn believers that works of the flesh can't inherit the kingdom of God. Adultery is one of them. Jesus called remarriage after divorce adultery. This is pretty plain in the bible. I found fascinating that Jesus (GOD) talked more about remarriage after divorce that any other sins. All the gospels and Apostles taught about remarriage after divorce. The Bible also, teaching about family and children. This subject about divorce and remarriage was a big topic in Jesus and Paul days too. But Jesus shut Moses law down that allowed to remarry and Paul did the same in Corinthians letters.I don't fully understand how can a unfaithful spouse cheats and the other spouse can't remarry for that person unfaithfulness but that how the bible reads. You even say it in your vows. 1Cor 7:10-11 say to remain unmarried or reconcile, it never ever says remarry. Notice it's all their 'opinion'.

For Matthew 5:32 and 19:9 you used an inaccurate translation to prove your blatant eisegesis. Joyce Meyer does this all of the time and she isn't a Christian. Read it in the Greek! This pertains to Deuteronomy 24 and it's about a woman who has committed fornication but presents herself to her husband-to-be as a virgin. Btw, Matthew was written to the Jews and there are at least four ante-Nicene fathers who have testified that it was originally written in Hebrew. The Jews knew exactly what Jesus was talking about and they understood that this escape clause was only written because of their hard hearts and for NO other reason. How hard is your heart? The Bible gives ZERO reasons for divorce & remarriage (though two are given for divorce only - with NO remarriage). Most Christians are unsanctified and worldly and homosexuals are correct in pointing out the hypocrisy. As an open air evangelist I have had to listen to homosexuals express anger at Christian hypocrisy such as divorce and remarriage (especially because some turned to homosexuality due to the resultant dysfunctional family life). HYPOCRITES.
@deanfry879
@deanfry879 Год назад
You are seeing firsthand just what Paul was talking about in Romans 1:21 and following. You could use this Christian hypocrisy to show unbelievers what God does with those who lack thankfulness, turning them over to their sins as a result. Sins though the acts may be, Paul implies they are also punishment to the unthankful. You have seen a lot in your line of work, see if this fits what you see.
@deanfry879
@deanfry879 Год назад
Another thought. You are dealing with more than one set of hypocrites here. Going back to Romans 1 but starting with verse 18, along with Proverbs 22:14, we see that the sexual sins and divorce and remarriage result from God's wrath coming on the people who live like God is not, but with lip service (Isaiah 29:13). Yet these other people see God's wrath and instead of giving thanks God shows His wrath on the disobedient as an example to others, they double down on their own sin. Jesus was not a hypocrite, so their anger is only an excuse. You may need to speak to the people about most Christians the same way Jesus spoke to the crowds about the Pharisees. As a reminder, these thought are not useful to you until you think and pray over them. May the Lord bless your open air preaching so many will believe the promise of God for eternal life because of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the context of the scriptures, specifically within the Jewish tradition, the terms "putting away" and "divorce" often refer to two different concepts. Putting Away is commonly used to describe the act of separating or ceasing to cohabit with a spouse without legally dissolving the marriage. It can imply a physical separation or a temporary break, but the marital bond remains intact. In some cases, "putting away" can refer to a form of separation due to a variety of reasons, such as adultery, abandonment, or irreconcilable differences. The purpose of putting away is to allow for reflection, reconciliation, and potential restoration of the marital relationship. Divorce, on the other hand, refers to the legal dissolution of a marriage. It is the formal process of ending the marital contract and releasing both parties from their marital obligations and rights. Divorce permanently terminates the marriage relationship, allowing both individuals to remarry if they choose to do so. Divorce can be sought for various reasons, including adultery, abuse, desertion, or irreconcilable differences. It's important to note that translations that refer to the word fornication as being the exception of when a man is allowed to 'put away' his wife is infact correct. If there was fornication it is because the couple were betrothed to be married but not yet legally married. In Jewish custom and law, an engagement period was called the 'betrothal period' and it was the first part of the two part process of Jewish marriage, which creates the legal relationship without the mutual obligations. This is why it reminds us that we need to remain faithful until Christ's return as the believer saved and redeemed is also like the betrothed. Beware of idols lest we too fornicate during our salvation and Christ returns and 'put's us away' Pray and seek the wisdom of God on this matter and I hope this helps all those seeking clarification.

“Irreconcilable differences”, unfortunately, goes against the nature of scripture… Jesus said that we are to forgive 70 times 7 and to live our neighbor as ourselves.. A husband is commanded to love his wife AS Christ loves the church, and a wife is to respect her husband.. Unfortunately, “irreconcilable differences” stems from selfishness and pride in the marriage, which neither are grounds for divorce.. We are to die to our flesh, take up our cross daily and follow Jesus.. The fall out of unrepentant pride and selflessness can lead to the act of adultery.. But the root cause is pride and selflessness.

It would help if people regarded the marriage vows as to God in regard to each other rather than vows to each other. It is better to ask God to give one the spouse they need than to demand of the spouse to be what they want, which is quite hardhearted. Paul spoke as one considered faithful by God, in whom the Holy Spirit resided. While he talked about letting an unbeliever leave, he did not permit a believer to initiate a divorce. Paul's goal is peace, and he expected the believer to submit to the Prince of Peace in their marriages. Not much of that happening is there. Paul never says anything that allows divorce if there is infidelity. Jesus talked about divorce causing adultery, which it cannot do if it already exists. So maybe we have latched onto a loophole that is not really there because of our sinfulness.

In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. I say this as a concession, not as a command. I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that. Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭2‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

@325ariel we have been together for 6 years his wife kicked him out over 3 times 9 years before she was committing adultery with several other men and is still sleeping with several men . And they have had a divorce for awhile but I was never able to divorce. This guy I'm with and I have a child together as well who is 4 . We have been seeking God together and now that we have been seeking God we have found all this stuff out but I know that there is stuff in the Bible about abandonment and about how you can divorce if there were in fact infidelity and I was abused in every way imaginable by my so called drunk of a husband and he also cheated on me many times even with my own sister. I was loyal until I couldn't take it anymore and now I'm with someone who treats me well and I him and his ex wife is still just selfish and only cares for herself. So I guess none of that matters? Even what Moses said about divorce? I keep going in circles trying to seek what God wants. But what of our child ? They are already divorced it says that once you are divorced you should never go back. I can't remember where in the Bible I read all of this. I do want to do what is right.

Sister, you are already married to the new man spiritually. You have had a child by him and have already joined yourself with him. Do you even think your deported husband will take you back with someone’s child? And if you really cared about the first marriage that much, you would have moved back to Mexico with him or find a way to legally bring him back. Continue your second marriage because you are already married spiritually with a whole child from the union.

Why get married if marriage is no longer holy to Americans??? It scares away those women who are wife material! Why divorced singles want to remarry again if marriage is no longer HOLY to them??? Why third party like mistresses want to get married when they don’t believe on marriage holiness??? Now I understand why Monica is still single because she don’t believe in marriage holiness!

Matthew 19-9 The term Christ Jesus used was "fornication." He was referring to the Jewish custom of the betrothal or engagement period. He didn't use the term adultery because He was not speaking about marriage. There's no justification for divorce. You can not remarry another. Be reconciled or stay single praying for your ex spouse salvation if they divorced or walked out. A pastor must be the husband of one wife.

Matthew 19:3-8 KJV - The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but "from the beginning it was not so." It means Gods heart has no thought of divorce. If anyone commits adultery continually(without any guilt) he or she not saved God said about saved family. Gentiles can do whatever they want to do because they are not saved or no salvation. And another thing u should not marry at age of ur children marriage age. U have to overcome sex flesh if wife dies after 45 age Moreover marriage is not only for sex its God given responsibility ( if he becomes impotent u should not have sexual relationship outside its sin, its God allowing situation u have to pray or use medication. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion. 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11 But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 12 But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13 And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15 But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. This is a false teaching. There is only one reason a believer is allowed to divorce, and that is in the case of marital infidelity during the betrothal period. We see this example with Jesus’ own parents. The way Joseph was going to put away Mary is the only divorce that is allowed in God’s eyes. If you do a word study of the Greek word infidelity, you will get this true meaning. In God’s eyes, sex is marriage. That’s why the only divorce that is allowed is divorce before marriage, i.e. during the betrothal period.

You are assuming the greek word pornea means fornication when in fact it is much broader, pertaining to all sexual immorality. When you confine the greek word to fornication alone, then you can possibly make your case; but that word encompasses all forms of sexual perversion so as not to restrict the innocent party from divorcing someone who commits adultery through other means.
