Thank you for sharing your adventures Lisa! I’m in the US and I love learning about Russian cuisine because I find the combinations of food items very peculiar. I don’t see them anywhere else and it’s very interesting. Like that summer soup with veggies & kvas is soooo wild to me! Love to learn

Usually okroshka soup can be made with sour milk drink or with kvas. Kvas is very sweet drink so imagine eating sweet soup with cucumbers 🥲 weird!!

It looks much better in reality than in photos and videos, trust me. I was there for the 1st time in my life in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations: the city is full of surprises. For example, the whole city is connected by metro, and besides metro you also have MCC, MCD, then Sheremetyevo airport is so modern & beautiful, MKAD circular highway around Moscow, then 7 sister buildings built in the Stalinist style (socialist copy of Art Deco architectural style), then GUM and beautiful but less known central children department... etc., etc., etc. In this video I see that Caesar salad costs 299 rubles, that's just 3 EUR, that's cheap considering it's Arbat street, prime location.

@@ArturoGarzaID Why? Is the airplane ticket too expensive? I heard an electric visa is issued fast. You can reach Moscow with Turkish Airlines, Pegasus from Istanbul, Air Serbia from Serbia, Qatar Airways from Qatar, Etihad, Air Arabia, Emirates, FlyDubai from Emirates, AirEgypt from Egypt, and from seceral Central Asian and Chinese airliners. 30+ airliners still fly to Russia.

@@takoto2610 No there is an entire process to be able to get approved to go from the U.S. to Russia you need to go to the Russian consulate here in the U.S. and provide proof of employment or adequate funds, explain how you are going to get around, your intentions for going, you also can't even go unless a Russian citizen goes to a consulate in Russia and requests for you to go. Even if a person meets all the requirements, they still might not even get approved by the consulate. And I don't know anyone in Russia, I will probably never get to go. Requirements to travel from U.S. to Russia is strict because of the rocky relationship between the U.S. and Russia. Politics.

Wonderful food. I have never seen a restaurant that had so much exciting food. I wish you had talked more about the dark bread. I assume it is rye bread. Most bread around the world is now white bread. That is sad since white bread is very unhealthy. Thank you for the tour of Mosco. You did a great job. 😍🤩Visit Russia's huge Bazars/Market somewhere deep into Russia far from Moskow and then compare the aroma/smell and taste of everything food especially meats and fish to what USA have which is 0 to compare you be surprised how much Russia is more organic 0 GMO 0 chemicals and so much taste and smell of perfect food even bread and drinks there is way better then anywhere in the world in my opinion Russian food and drinks number 1 in the world second place China and Japan third

Okroshka is a traditional Russian dish. But this summer soup is not popular in all regions of Russia. A large percentage of Russian citizens have never tried it and they don’t really want to.)))

Plants make all the difference in a city/urban landscape. I have not been to Moscow since 1999 so I am very much looking forward to getting back to it. Is fantastic to observe the really positive transformation that has occurred in Russia. Very largely thanks to Putin. Have eaten at a similar restaurant near kuznetski most last week. A full meal and drinks for the equivalent of £9 which is excellent value (no alcohol). In 1997, I took 6 people to the best restaurant (the only one that accepted credit cards) in Rostov Velikiye. The bill was the equivalent of £35 including alcohol so I paid it all. Food and alcohol can be much cheaper in Russia than the UK. Also Russian vegetables are much tastier (all organic and no genetically modified).

They use wrong type of kvas for okroshka. Kvas as a fermented drink can be different same as wine, it can be dry (sour, almost no sweet) and sweet. For okroshka it's better to use "white kvas". It's sour, packed with aromas of fermentation. It looks like they use sweet dark variation which is more preferable as a beverage.

Много раз проезжала станцию "Библиотека имени Ленина", а на самой станции ни разу не выходила. Красиво там. Думаю, сравнение окрошки с салатом + Кока-Колой не очень удачное, потому что Кока-Кола дико сладкая. Если её смешать с заготовкой для окрошки, будет совсем не то.

Кстати центр Москвы ремонтировали и обновляли по лекалам ремонта Владивостока перед ВЭФ в 2015. Сам с удивлением увидел сходства проектов и деталей в прошлом году во Владивостоке.

Most of your larger cities there look so clean and well kept, at least from what I've seen in pictures and video. The Kompot looks refreshing, but not a big fan of Kvass. Maybe because the stuff you buy in the USA is rubbish. Probably an acquired taste.
