Is Sentinels Deadlock Experiment NOT WORTH IT? | Sen vs G2 Analysis

This entire video, all I see from JohnQT is uncomfortability playing Deadlock, it doesn't seem like he knows how to play her comfortably and is second guessing himself because of it.

so, in my opinion deadlock is incredibly useful, and sentinels actually showed it in the past, just like fnatic did on ascent, but this whole series just felt bad. I feel like they were just not into it, I still think viper is way better than deadlock on bind, but I can confidently say that she's busted on lotus. What confused me the most is that the lotus meta is shifting towards using the cypher cam as the main jolly of the comp, like the whole team plays around the cam position and the infos, but sen just weren't doing anything about it, plus the deadlock utilities weren't being used as efficiently as they should be used, and cypher too wasn't doing well on attack especially, and I can tell it's not the comp, sen just had 2 rough maps, you could see it in Jordan's eyes too, they all seemed pretty stressed out. I'm sure we're gonna recover, at the end of the day jhon on deadlock is goated, lost a battle but not the war, still believe in them

Funny how Sentinels struggle playing a sentinel

I am glad to see Deadlock be played more, and I think its less so agent choice but moreso lack of real practice with the agent (and what other agents synergize well with Deadlock). I know TMV brings up Viper a lot, but the games post-nerfs have shown that the Viper is not nearly as strong/needed as she used to be. I do hope Sen (and other teams) do keep experimenting and realize that they should not just be practicing for Deadlock but for other agents that work well with them (i.e maybe Skye/Gekko instead of Fade to retain info but also Raze combo potential).

SEN said they underperformed that day but that it wasn’t because of the comp. Plus, Valyn is great at plying to the weaknesses of the opposing comp. My guess is that next time we see the comp it’ll be a lot more polished.

You nailed it with the analyses of Johnqt and the overall game plan. There was many times the Deadlock util was used poorly, or the overall strategy didn't compliment the strengths of Deadlock.

I think that they bind Comp could work well with a Omen instead of a Brim

i think deadlock is fine they just need to play more in too deadlock and get combo value through her grav net and i think sen maybe is still learning deadlock so some mistakes was made and can be better overtime

I think the deadlock fade combo just isn’t good because they basically have the same ability twice and it would be better to have some faster util like a skye to capitalize better

This may be hella copium, but I do think that the round 15 on bind <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="330">5:30</a> was a bit of the audio issues fault. Zellsis was the one without any sense of spacial audio, and when the raze satchel out onto site, he just didn't turn around which would have been a free kill, and I feel like anyone above silver would turn around to kill the raze and almost guarantee the round

I think teams could work around the deadlock comps, and we saw her getting quite a lot of value. The thing thats off about Deadlock is still the wall though. The gravnet is a good ability. The sensors can be situational, but extremly good in postplants and pretty good on defense. The wall is just so easy to destroy, doesnt recharge and doesnt provide enough value for what it is. Its not worth to sacrifice that 5th agent spot for deadlock with so many characters being so good currently in my opinion.

I don't understand why they went away from the Deadlock/Cypher combo from their game vs NRG, it seemed to be pretty effective, especially on defense.

Deadlock has insane potential especially on a map like bind. Her delay along with slowing a lane down whilst being able to fight the other is what makes her one of my favorite sentinels. I think her biggest understandings is timings. For example, knowing the fast timings that your opponents can take space (like walking up or running up). The other thing is the durability of the wall. Knowing at specific intervals during the round when the wall will break. On my team I would never wall early as it breaks at the 1min mark in the round which is not ideal. I think with more prac from Sen with deadlock we might see some better changes. Again deadlock is a sentinel that is unpredictable and harder to destroy her trips. She is my favorite to fight consistently on sites regardless of ult economy (my favorite thing is to deny ults like gekko or raze rocket with the wall or grav net).

To be honest, Viper has been weakened, but he still seems like an essential character for Lotus.

The problem with Deadlock to me seems to boil down to this: Deadlock wants to be in game states that she can not create herself. Deadlock loves post plants, especially big post plants, 5v5 to 3v3, since that's when her sound sensors are most likely to find value, as contacting is just not an option, but she doesn't have much to offer her team to get into a 5v5 post plant other than maybe some wall lineups to slow down rotates. Similarly, on defence, she wants to disrupt and delay big site execs, but she has no way of finding out where and when they are coming herself. Deadlock sets certain compositional requirements for her team to get the most out of her, and those requirements can be difficult to meet. She loves Cypher to play off of his info on defence, but also needs enough threat on the site exec to get into post plants on attack. With 2 agents on the team that do basically nothing on an exec.

Just make deadlocks trips gain info. They can keep the proc if sound is made gimmick but give an indicator to the player if someone has walked past the trip making it on more usable as a solo senti.

Hmm throwing the wall mid site huh. I don't think I ever see that done ever. But it's kinda intressting.

for me it was a team issue not an agent issue. Watching it the castors pointed out multiple uncoordianted moments that had nothing to do with deadlock and instead communication or strategy.

In the last few minutes you talk about the "C site sentinel util dump" which is even worse bc since G2 is playing a raze the "default nade trip" should destroy every piece of util except the camera. Right?

the two games that they won comfortably there was no deadlock which were kru and c9

On bind it’s def a troll you need the viper but I think on lotus it’s good because they struggle on defense and it’s very helpful on offense so you don’t get flooded as you say in streams

The deadlock trips are useless 90% of the time, the wall lasts way too little time. Atleast the trips need to reworked to make her a viable solo sentinel to be picked at the pro level imo

I think Deadlock is good when paired with Cypher. MIBR got very good value from the pair on Bind. And that's frickin MIBR

I just know in ranked or even unrated, double sentinel feels like the slowest possible comp that can't deny or provide info at all. I hate it. I'm rooting completely against this strat. It is cool seeing the variety and attempt tho, I love experimentation! But for this one, I root against it. Maybe my brawlhalla beginnings show as I hate passive play in any game lol, especially this slow af one

I honestly think they used yhe wrong comp against the wrong team, g2 are infamous for passive and slow pushes, and silent reclears

0 reason deadlock cant be a insane pro play agent, good nades, the stuns are fucking insane and both great for combo util with tm8s if u know where u can hide them and still hit spike and her ult is 95% a free kill, if u dont have a decent amount of defensive setups for her i could see her being worse on that end, but she is also a great great stalling agent so i dont see a ceiling on her

A lot of this was overall comp problems and sentinels problems, I still think deadlock is very viable

Sentinels really gave cypher deadlock their first loss in pro play “I believe it’s their first loss in the same comp”

Sen didn't play that game well, and they all admitted it on steams and stuff between audio issues and low mental it shows they are by NO means a bad team I mean they're in the 2nd seat in playoffs for a reason gg go next I guess

if what zelsis is saying is true sen was handy capped with broken coms due to device issues where as g2 seemingly had no com problems

I think g2 got a lil lucky on both maps and sen got unlucky in many situations

The absence of Sachi this game was visible, hopefully that sacy sub can step up 😔

Is it a comp problem, or a problem with the fact that G2 are fricken insane right now. Reminiscent of how 100T played Stage 1.
